Maybe not as your main drive. I use Samsung for the main boot drive, and cheap SSD for storage/games.

That way your important files don't get exposed to such risks.

Anyway there is little problem with the reliability of these SSDs tbh. Just go for it. No point paying more for perceived quality when it really doesn't matter.

Thanks for advice!
Which means, as external drive no need expensive SSD? so, price like RM350 - RM400 for 1TB good enough?

Haha. 1 super old Mac (2008) No Thunderbolt, 1 unit of 2013 office setup with thunderbolt!

I was thinking of NVME too. But, as you see, my old Mac needs an NVME external drive? Or just a very normal SSD with a USB Casing?

If yes, price for a SSD 1TB seems around RM380 - RM420 , right?
Wow... Crucial, cool! Thank you for your recommendation!
Cool! Another Crucial 👍🏻
How much is BX500 lately?

Check Lazada. Should be about rm400 plus minus. Definitely pick local reseller rather than overseas.

Ok! Appreciate your advice again! And yes, I always go for local seller!
Lazada is better than Shopee?
Btw, which seller did you buy from?

The store called Genesis Rapid Online. But any local store with good rating should be good. Have to look around to get the best price.

When come to Cheap, there's no chance to get non original or so called "pirated" SSD?

If you’re talking external = portable connect with USB type then yeah even more reason to go for the cheapest one since it’s not being used as frequently.

Just find the cheapest one from a reputable brand on Shopee/Lazada. Last time I bought a 1TB Sandisk for 450 as my game/storage drive for my laptop. Still working after 2 years of daily use.

Reputable means not some unknown kingkong Chinese brand. Adata, Sandisk, Kingston, Silicon Power are ok.

No problem.

Easiest way to check whether it’s acceptable is to search the same model and read reviews on Amazon. If there’s hundreds or thousands of reviews and it’s still 4+ stars then ok. PNY and Adata I think still ok

I need a SSD currently looking at Crucial MX500 4TB but the warranty spec some advertise as 3 years, some 5 years and some state no warranty in shopee and lazada. Anyone using this capacity model here?

And a portable case for this crucial ssd and can connect to type c and also type A usb port computer.
