I need a SSD currently looking at Crucial MX500 4TB but the warranty spec some advertise as 3 years, some 5 years and some state no warranty in shopee and lazada. Anyone using this capacity model here?

And a portable case for this crucial ssd  and can connect to type c and also type A usb port computer.

Honestly micron warranty very bad in messia. If you want good warranty then pick intel / samseng / seagate. WD a bit drop but still better than micron in messia.

it is depend on what model. But if for dramless SSD like 900P / 905P, strong like hell.

usable. But micron warranty claim for a country same like messia not good compare to their cmpetitor.

You need to find back the one who sell you the product in order to claim it.

2022 after pandemic, any shope can close/shutdowm/bankcrupt in any time right now.

Oh ... I see. Friend mentioned about Micron cause some used computer shop offered SSD Upgrade with Micron. They as well as selling used Micron.

Price also not cheap I think, around RM400+- for 1TB 😲

Which model specifically from those brands?

I use this as a guide and find for reviews of a particular model online: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1092033-ssd-tier-list/

This.

All brands got low end models. Like SanDisk PLUS. Mahai, can throw into longkang. I quickly sold it off and bought a better one.

You CAN buy cheap SATA SSD for regular use or running OS or apps in it. Any brand also can. With or without Dram also can.

But most importantly... MOST IMPORTANTLY once you installed OS or use it, run CrystalDisk Info and see the temperature. Run HWInfo or if your computer BIOS can see HDD/SSD Temp.

If the Temperature starts at 50c, send it back to claim warranty. 100% confirm will fail in less than a year. Throughout many years installing many brands and sizes, the early temperature is one indicator the SSD will not last long.

The other one that you cannot detect is SSD controller failure. That one really based on luck. Phison brand controllers are the most common for cheap SSD. Last year i have experienced Kingston 240GB A400 & Patriot 240GB with Phison controllers that failed in under a year before.

All SSD brands routinely change controller and storage cell types to meet profit targets and unit prices. There is no 100% trustworthy brand - Adata, Crucial, Kingston, Samsung have all done this.

When SSDs fail, they fail suddenly and (mostly) irretrievably - you will NOT be able to recover data.

You must back up your important data if you don't want to lose it.

Sekian.

Hi,
SSD like Adata, Kingston, Crucial... Would you recommend? If ok, safe some tokens from big brands like Samsung, SanDisk, WD, Seagate...

Nonsense. This is true a decade ago. Not anymore. Nowadays tlc is reliable and fast enough to be what slc were back then.

Even samsung flagship 990 Pro is TLC.
WD SN850x is TLC
SK Hynix Platinum P41 is TLC

These three are the most powerful (and most expensive) ssd you can buy in market to date.

MLC is now reserved to the highest end of datacenter storage you can't find without a special procurement.

SLC is pretty much nonexistent nowadays. Go find and tell me which ssd model after 2015 that use SLC, if you can find one.
