I'm currently on Maxis 128, and they say to sign up for the new iPhone, I have to change my plan to Maxis 139.

Is this true? or is there a way around this?

yes for all 15 series you need minimum of 139/month, unless you port out to another telco and port back into maxis as a new line then you can go 109/month.

Thanks for the response. By the way, is it true that only the new plans comes with 5G? i.e. my 128 plans does not have 5G?

Maxis give 2 options
- permanent upgrade primary line to new plan which is additional RM11 on top of your whatever older plan; the whole account gets 5G, primary and supplementary(ies), OR,
- EACH line gets 5G by buying RM10/mth add-on. this one can subscribe and unsubscribe since it is add-on. if you have 3 lines and 2 of them wants 5G, for example, that means you'll be paying RM20.

be advised that Fahmi announced that telco agreed to not charge the 5G "tax". at least that is what he conveyed and written in newspaper. you should know by now how unreliable his announcement is. celcomdigi so far has remained adamant to continue charging it.

maxis has not made move, but ktards wrote in kopitiam that some of them who subscribed the RM10 add-on is no longer charged while still enjoy 5G (don't ask me they refunded or not).

it remains to be seen how maxis will treat those that had otherwise opted the RM11 route. as one of those who is "affected", i think it's only fair for maxis to reverse us back to old plan. it won't be fair that those who upgraded RM11 for 5G only to now find those who didn't upgrade also able to enjoy it anyway. i.e. if it's free after all, then we shouldn't have needed to pay more.

I should wait for this plan instead of the RM139/monthly..

I need two share lines, so RM139 is a must.

I just went to one of their roadshow, now they say to get the iPhone via the 139 plan, I also need pay RM40 for a new number that I can later cancel. This is because the iPhone I'm getting is considered to be in "limited stock" category, whatever that means, everything just feels bizzare.

No choice since you need two share lines then RM139/monthly plan only ..

Today, I was told by CS cannot check stock for 15pro/pro max. Hot item, their system not accurate vs store level actual stock.
Then I visited Maxis Centre Gardens in the evening just now, was told no ready stock anytime soon. Kindly order online for delivery/in-store pick up. If stock available, ready to collect in 3 biz days.

They didn't even want to take my order on the spot.

For checking of exact stock just before your visit, you can call 123 from your Maxis line, and ask the customer service personnel to help you check at the various individual Maxis Centres. They would be most willing to assist you. Did it before for myself.
