Been using Acer Nitro 5 since 2019. Other than it being slightly heavy, I have no issues with it. Work, game, movie all with one laptop!

A majority of students on tight budget would definitely be on Acer. Those things last an average of 5 years. Batteries and hard disk account for the common problem of failures. Mind you most of these are like sub RM2000 laptops.

5 years is a long time. My Acer only last 2 years.

Which brand do you recommend that can last more than 5 years?

has been using illegear for many years.

after 1 year of using, some keys on keyboard wont register when pressed. Battery died quite fast because the design, they put the battery near the HOT vents.

then forgot since when, the motherboard a bit problem. When i boot up the pc, the power will cut off only then boot up again.

if want replacement part, rm100 item they charge you 5x the price whistling.gif if you ask for the serial number of the replacement part, so you can buy cheap from china, they dont give. whistling.gif

about the design part, cant really blame them. They just rebrand Thunderobot china brand into theirs, every thing else same whistling.gif But will i be their repeating customer? hell no

Been Surface Laptop 1 since 2019, sent it back to Microsoft due to dent and they replaced mine with a new one. Already sold to my brother last year and still kicking.

Bought Surface Laptop Go in early 2020. Had nothing against it except for the non touch screen.

Just bought new old stock Macbook 12, so far okay.

My laptop history:
1. Cheapo entry level Acer, less than RM1.8k back in 2008. Unusable after 3 years, too slow - what to expect for an entry level laptop in 2009.
2. Dell Inspiron with 2nd gen i7 in 2011/12. Very reliable, lasted me full 6 years and actually should be still working until today, but I moved on to a desktop PC and the plastic parts have decomposed.
3. My sister's Dell Vostro bought around 2.5 years ago, all good until now, just changed battery.

Not all models under same brand have same quality.
Most important is how good their after sales services and warranty. But sometimes no spare parts also.

Dell Inspiron. Bought 2015 still in use for engineering simulations. Light stuff nothing heavy.

Changed battery in 2019 and SSD in 2020.

Few months ago all the rubber fitting around the LCD and below on the bottom cover start to deteriorate. Don't know why and how to replace. Asked few repair shops they also don't know. Any idea?

Most computer nowadays don't last beyond 5 years. 5 years is a long time.

I am thinking of either buying Huawei, Lenovo or Asus. Why did you choose Huawei?
