how do you guys seek a refund of the 1% charges from apple?

i got charged 1% too for my purchase of apple watch using CIMB card

Edit: Called apple store toll free number. Speak to the customer service about the 1% charges. They told because the item was not shipped from Malaysia so "some bank" will charge 1% then ask me to email them the credit card statement showing the extra 1% charges then they will revert back the 1%.

call your bank to request waiver, if they refuse to then only go to Apple CS.

can refer to earlier posts here and here

Lesson learnt. Don't use CIMB for Apple Store Malaysia purchases. Too much hassle.

I contacted Apple Support and they agreed to refund the 1%, although the email stated it was a one off refund.

Time to switch to other banks. laugh.gif

the one off refund is just a template they use, if you buy again they will waive it again biggrin.gif but to skip all the trouble, better just use other card..

ya I use foreign or local to differentiate for myself.

I use a local bank cc last time without such charges.

by the way, the 1% was the subsequently waived by stand chart after an appeal. sekian

also kena when using cimb card on last purchase. At first thought that is some kind of apple sales tax, but later found out is admin fee from octopus bank, but that time is a little bit late to waive it.
Have stop using cimb when buy for Apple accessories later.

Sorry, I don't understand. What you meant by a little bit late to waive it?

Means that I only found out about it from this thread after more than a month later (stupid me doh.gif ), by that time the transaction already completed. So cannot waive it already.
Should call Apple CS or bank to waive it when receive invoice update from Apple

I haven't had such an additional charge when using my Standard Chartered card with Apple Store MY.
Bought in 2019, 2020, 2021. Can't confirm for 2022 and 2023 though.

I can confirm, I just got hit with this unexpected 1% cross-border charge. Will go to their branch to attempt to waive it.

Update (26/10/23) finally got it waived (for one-time only) after making service request and lodging complaint in the branch. The person who called was nice and explained it clearly.
