Point to self. 30 years down the road, I am likely dead(hopefully, don't want to live too long, old and senile and immobilized). I think if can last another 20 years also more than enough. So I am not so worry about inflation. As long as passive income > expenses and DEBT FREE and you have at least 1 paid off property (so you have a roof over your head no matter what), I believe it is absolutely fine.

In this new era, the key for a long career is to find one which will not be so easily obsolete and replace by AI. Looking at the progress of AI...it is pretty scary. It can even replace jobs once deemed impossible like creating art ChatGPT is really the beginning of SkyNet....it's freaking amazing. I have even asked ChatGPT to write some codes for Commodore Amiga.... So one of the best career which I feel to go now is the AI field.
..you should be behind creating the technology of AI...then you are somewhat save.of termination by SkyNet....

The key to being happy is to live within your means. Target a few nice things in life is fine....but unnecessary luxuries like eating abalone everyday or drive a Lambo is not necessary.

Unker old already eat vege and egg also ok. No need eat so much. Why need so much money and cause stress to yourself. I don't live in my car, drive Proton or Perodua also ok.

I know people who drives big car and probably made more than me, doesn't seems to be happy. I also know a friend who is a high income earner, just live simple life, take MRT to work most of the time. Eat vege and egg healthy lifestyle. But I am pretty sure he has at least a couple of millions more than me.

Was told these fields should last longer, robotics, machine-learning, AI.

Most worry is MYR devalued like some of the MiddleEast countries like Syria, Iran, Lebanon, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey. So must park some assets overseas.

myr has been devalued steadily in the last 30 years. if gomen policy doesn't change, long term devaluation is likely to continue.

i disclose what i have in unit trust (saja declare if not she will question me how come so old no savings), cash or cash equivalent where there is no risk of losing capital.

stocks/etf i did not disclose to her during relationship. no point to bring this up because it might 1 day in future it might falls below 70% of the value.

another thing is that her family is not savvy/thrifty about finance management. got money then want buy new furniture, go travel etc etc. really can spoil my FIRE plan

well. i would certainly tell her a rough figure with a discount factor of 30%. but since she didn't ask me, i did not tell her.... until i told her where i place the will, and all the accounts statement (unit trust, shares, banks, insurance policies etc etc. i do print year end statement for security). one thing lead to another and voila...

nowadays bursa statement have the total value in ringgit. last time it only shows you how much shares you have without printing the values in it... kinda sucks
