can't really compare US and Msia since they are both made in respective CKD plants, and with CKD there's bound to be quality variations with locally sourced parts as well

Speaking about the media preview drive at Sepang, Honda Msia prepared a FC Civic and Corolla 1.8G as a comparison, but for some reason left out the Mazda 3 sedan

Wonder why. Pricing?

Basically just paying more for cosmetics (technically the 18 inch rims should have better handling but you lose out on comfort as well)

Guess I will wait until they decide to release the 10.2 inch cluster. Next year possibly gonna have corolla and mazda 3 facelift as well.

strange.... i rmb I read someone saying here (or another thread) that corolla NVH better than his new Mazda 3. Either Mazda 3 NVH really sux or maybe its up to personal preference

ii) FE Civic price will be same as FC ketam (unlikely)

Yes I know new Mazda 3 improve a lot on NVH

But the poster claiming Corolla NVH better than his Mazda 3... so yeah. Maybe everyone have different perception

all spec the speaker only 4 ???

doesn't seem right there. Even Honda City got 8 speakers for a C segment like Civic, 6 speakers is the acceptable minimum

Anyway I hope its just an error. No way they gonna just put 4 speakers in Civic. Otherwise.... I wont be surprised if Civic RS is somehow similarly priced to FC Civic 1.5 TCP since this is the cost cutting they made

Its sad we will be the only market in SEA to miss out on that full cluster on RS spec... (Thai, Indon and Philiipines all have that 10" cluster)

You kinda see where HM priority is when you see their slide especially the target market. Kinda explains why we getting that 18" rims on the RS as well... (Thai and Indon have 17" rims on RS while Philippines is also 18" but they have everything inc Bose audio and full cluster)

Our Civic RS is purely a cosmetic premium over the V. Really sad. At least with City RS you get more features and a different drive train

think i'm just gonna test drive and hold back my purchase. the lack of that 10" cluster is a dealbreaker for me especially in the RS spec

also waiting for MK8 Golf R Line 1.4 TSI. Rumoured price is around 130 - 140k+ also

my C segment upgrade shortlist

- FE Civic RS
- Mazda 3 2.0 H+
- Mk8 Golf 1.4 TSI R line

Corolla is out because I really can't accept that interior

I'm ready to retrofit those safety features myself if I end up getting the Golf (found a few shops that does this with original VW parts). but it really boils down to how much they price the Golf, 120 - 130k is the sweet spot, otherwise I'll wait till year end for deals. I also believe its gonna be easier to get higher discounts for VW (since its considered a 'cold' brand) compared to Honda or Mazda. My only concern for the Golf is the usability of all those touch controls in the interior... this one have to try out myself

For Mazda 3, its expensive and honestly other than the overall design and interior quality, nothing to shout about for me. I guess I like it because its the only choice (other than the Golf) to still have a conventional AT rather than CVT


Well I'm looking at segment rather than price...so yeah my range is 130 - 150k+. And personally I don't really want a crossover or SUV so naturally the choice is limited to the few sedans/hatchbacks

more like spend more but have to make sure its well spent. have to pray not ending up getting a lemon

because when it comes to buying cars, I find it very hard to accept lower spec parts if something better is supposedly available, that's just me. I'm someone who is willing to pay for more, just give me the damm option. And this is also just my opinion, the meter and LCD in the Mazda 3 was well designed and integrated. The lower spec display in the Civic is not instantly looks like a lower spec option already compared to the full digital one

I was not gonna consider VW at all until they mention the new golf will come with 8 speed AT from Aisin instead of a DSG. But still if I were to get it I prolly will opt for pre reg or year end discounts. Also reliability issues and so on, I'm going to gather opinions from owner group first rather than hearsay on internet

Anyway a car is more than a A to B tool for me, so in the end I have to test them all to see which one I like spending time in the most. To put it simply.... I'm buying with my heart rather than brain

Engine is a different story, can be few ten thousands of difference there

But that 10" cluster..... how much difference its gonna make? Also the fact that we are the only region in SEA to not get that in the RS spec just made me more sour

This is exactly my concern as well

Not really in a rush for a new ride so I guess I'll just wait. The longer you wait the more choices you get as well when it comes to cars

Only thing is missing out the SST free period currenrly

RS is just a cosmetic premium over the V. Only those who really care about sporty looks would probably get it...

You want a crossover or sedan? For family purposes probably the cross is more practical
