Am thinking of getting an FE due to the rebates. Wanna ask the sifus, how long does it take for honda to entertain steering rack issues and how long does it take for honda to replace the steering rack?

Also, anyone has idea whether the thai facelift uses the same steering rack?

It’s take long and is frustrating. They use a lousy China aliexpress audio sensor thingy to detect max turn “bump” sound. If your rack registers a bump sound large enough on only one end CW or CCW, then it’s not qualified for replacement or warranty claim. You need to trip their sensor on both ends. On my case which I ranted about in this thread you will see that my steering already sticky and unsmooth to my hands, but only register small sensor reading limit on one end of the turn and can’t even see qualify to get warranty claim. That’s one day wasted. Be prepared to spend days in ordering grab in and out of your service center. Or if you are in Penang island south I can let u test drive my car and then you can decide if you can live with the issue or not, permanently.

The tuk sound you mentioned is happening all the time ? I have just had my rack change but the tuk sound is still there and is driving me mad.

Last time they did recall this items, and that time many thoughts HM already found the solution etc, maybe change vendor to a better company, different parts design with better materials. But unfortunately it is still the same issues for the rack, and many said it basically the same similar parts except the invoices are much cheaper in price for the updated rack

So barely 4 months into the ‘new’ steering rack I can already hear tuk sound when turning the steering to the left. If go by previous rate of rosak, I can confidently say in a years time my civic will be undriveable and I’ve got to get it replaced again.

drove mine for 2 years without the steering rack issue.
SC ask me to change due to my car got the recall notice during my usual service and i thought might as well.
5 months later i have the 'sticky' feeling of the steering and is damn annoying. especially obvious on the straight drive or during one of the long turn on a cloverfield interchange where i have to make some minor sterring adjustment, felt like losing control of the steering. Not sure if this is also from the steering rack issue

guess that explains why HM is so chill.... KPDN also another culprit I guess, basically tai chi consumer back to Honda

Guys.. for those who are changing tires soon… just enquired Honda Malaysia on changing tyre porfile… they said will void warranty even if we’re still using original rim but different tyre size.

I am wondering if it's the electrical steering rack that cause the problem coz hydraulic ones does not fail that frequently. That is what my bawah pokok mechanic told me, increased steering rack failure does not only occur with Honda only, Toyota also got a lot and it is all electrical steering racks, very rarely hydraulic (that old hydraulic failure mostly wear and tear, aging).

Hi just wondering if this is the symptoms of steering rack . Only 6000km mileage in . When my car is fully braked , sometimes when I start moving from the stop position and turn the steering slightly there is a "Tuk" sound .

Other than this no stickiness and no sound on normal moving speed

I just called the bank for the early settlement amount , it will be only rm1k more than my principal around 117k .

Probably only need to top up abit if I manage to get 110k++ from used car , this is quite tempting . Don't get me wrong I love the car very much but not really a big fans of having a flaw that have to be replaced so often . 

The financial bomb that might come after warranty period is over and this steering rack flaw keeps repeating itself. Steering rack is really not cheap.

Yeah its a V-spec 2023 Aug . Yours is V-spec as well right .

I think selling it off before the facelift launch might be a good idea , to me I can't really stand the issues . Even my 10+ years old Kimchi car has no issues like this .

Then it is completed, all model affected for the steering rack. Funny HM still smiling happily even many raised concern for the rack. Not even a single local YouTubers brave enough to make some sound to HM for the rack.

I hate to be in your situation especially foresee taking abit money lost due to selling the car at lower than expected price due to this rack, HM giving rebates for 5 figure. Is there any specialist that able to come out with solution on the rack?
