vinyl - tried all the combinations, probably need some tweaking to improve it, will redo when atmos pair arrives.

PLII is only good for AAC2.0... i never use it for HD audio files.. these, gotta select/auto the highest one.

outcome for DD+, DDtrueHD, dtshdma, dtsx are ok, yet to try atmos - still, will recalibrate, tweak again.

yea normally movies will be good post audyssey (we r not comparing with other room correction)
the problem is with music.. i think ur denon remote you can press the red button or yellow button at the bottom to see if that gives u different audio experience

yeah, those red+yellow buttons give variations... think meant to mimic movie vs pure music.

vinyls are all stereo 2.0.

take a concert originally pressed on vinyl, then digitized to flac or wav, u get just 2.0 audio.

take same concert remastered in dtshdma5.1/ddtruehd + 1080p video - excellent, this, i love!

playing vinyl set to multichannel mimics the 5.1 audio but is not always nice.

if u goes for red it will change the prologic for music.. more audio will goes thru front speaker rather than center centric..
yellow is direct mode
bypassing all the audyssey audio processing (eq i think will not be done according to audyssey setup but not sure abt time alignment) .. subwoofer will not get any lfe signal in this mode

you can long press any of the color button to change to stereo so your music will come from fronts only and your sub will function when u r playing stereo 2.0.. that mode some time sound better on my x2000

there are mono vinyls too....... so not all are 2.0

ada auto meh? why i cant recall? hahaha if auto means PLII then in most of the case ur music denon wont know is music because its same like tv / youtube that send 2.0 signal in and it will apply PL II logic into to change it to movie sound.. which i dun like for music as its center speaker centric

in the days before video killed the radio star and when things were simple, it was common to do a TT->preamp->power amp->speakers - u get great sounds.

now, i try to minimize the hardware... just plug in the phono input.

UHD3000... will take some time to evaluate, probably a toss up between a zidoo and a dune.

i think by default it is auto, will play the highest audio stream if multi tracks; or just direct, stereo if single track 2.0.

PLII will only kick in if u select it, right?

the last I tried, one is direct then auto on the yellow
direct sounded quite bad, then when I toggle the auto, it becomes stereo

yup maybe u r right.. for my sound mode for movies i had change it to PL II. So when my 2.0 signal come in then it will become PLII. I think if i left it with stereo next time 2.0 come in it will pick up stereo. And yes u r right, for multichannel track system will picks up automatically, HDMA ka, DTSMA ka automatically will pick up.

It wont be direct because that defeat the audyssey purpose, only when u press the direct button only will become direct and audyssey got cancel. So if direct mode sound better than Audyssey callibration for movies.. sometime it means the audyssey callibration screw up d..

as long as when u r playing 2.0 music the display shows Stereo that is something that worth trying.. then switch it to direct mode and compare and see if ur music sound better

Direct/Pure Direct will disable bass management, turn-off the subwoofer, and force the speakers to Large (full-band).

Stereo will retain bass management and allow the subwoofer to work.

Depending on the model AVR, some of them have a separate 2-channel stereo set-up menu found under manual set-up. If your AVR has this, make sure the bass management settings under that menu are the same (small/80 Hz).

What different between Direct & Pure direct mode? Direct still got Audyssey EQ working??
