Since now Himedia don't launch new models, I'm inclined with the new Zidoo boxes to test out the Dolby Vision setting. Price of Z9X so expensive now

navigation n control no issues for the zidoo, personally for me, I prefer it over q10 pro, more user frenly

but android apps compatibility tat one I cannot advice, I never really use it

hi media android apps for me, not tat usable for my usage, DS video, DS file not stable, kept log out
navigation also not usable for me
Disney hotstar couldnt get it to work

I tried astrogo on the zidoo or Himedia once before, fren came over, wanna watch epl
had a really hard time trying to install on it, then log in, after log in, cant navigate
end up he watch it on his phone.......

I think all these players I have since those days have no issue on audio streaming to receiver/soundbar
only issues are some players cannot decode dts, then got issues for those who playback directly on their teebee

btw I think most or all teebee now also can play files off USB right? mkv n all sorts

I think astrogo is meant to be on mobile anyway

if play on usb, still can use hdmi arc right? audio will still be out from receiver or soundbar

I'm using Zidoo Z1000 Pro for few months now, overall quite satisfy with the product, but the bluray full menu support sometime got problem, cant really use for some BDISO/BDMV.

Quite enjoy with the products. Originally was thinking to buy Z9X, but after talking with the sales guy then decide go for Z1000 Pro.

Hopefully the bluray menu issue can be solve in next firmware update.

Yes, z9x, z10pro, z1000pro, even z3000 is using same chipset RTD1619DR.....

Not sure about the HDD max capacity, coz the one I put in just 1.5TB. The max capacity is not my concern as I mostly using NAS.

the BDMV and m2ts so far no issue playing 1080p or 4k contents, most my 1080p is run perfectly on Z1000 pro, other than menu issue on 4k contents, I noticed some movie cannot play not sure is due to my VS10 setting as I force it output as DV. Maybe I should try change to auto.

I not sure how to identify is MEL or FEL for those 4K movie, But so far my setting is force to output using VS10.

Lastly, I used bitstream to my denon 3700 so the audio type I didnt test out. But based on spec, it is covered most of the format.

1 of the reason i choose Z1000pro also because of the outlook. My old player is Dune been used for more than 10 yrs but was having problem after lightning strike.

so far is Jacky Cheung and Tsai Chin this 2 cannot do bluray menu. it is just 1080p only....but it upscale to 4k.
I dont trust wifi even the unit very close to my router, even my router is AX86U, i still prefer to use LAN cable as very stable.

in fact my home theater setup all using LAN cable to connect.... hahaa....

I off all the wifi on those devices.

cyclone I think u just need more mesh unit, but the most stable way is to backhaul

While playback of Dolby Vision is limited to mp4 and mkv so that there is no playback of DV with UHD BDs, the same does not apply do HDR10+ and its triggered for full menu playback as well.
YouTube’s 4K HDR specification (VP 9.2) do work with file playback, not for the YouTube app though.
In 2020 its suffice to say that all major HD audio formats like Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA/HR and DTS:X are bit streamed flawlessly.

I did tweak some weird setting and I notice the colours were off, then I decided to just follow some forummer setting on the SG site

I dont have that much UHD (sir David series ok or not?) but can test test, I havent even help cyclone to test the BDMV issues and also updating Jjoottt on the DV image
