I buy Neutrovis kf94 from their official store on Laz/Shopee but not sure how to test filtration. RM29.90 for 10. Much more comfortable but there is some leakage at bottom on exhalation because of face shape. Seals pretty well on inhalation.

if u find it hard to breath in ur mask, it is 99% working. When u cannot take oxygen from outside air when wearing mask, it is clearly been filtered or blocked. It is a very good reminder that you dont stay too long outside.

If its somehow easy to breath, maybe 95% or less working, depending on your needs. I know it is a weak judgment but it will work.

Yeah thanks to this thread did some research and seems like Neutrovis kf94 is not yet in the MDA database. So far only been wearing it in the car commuting or open window to talk to policeman at roadblock. It's too bad as just made a big order and now have a bunch of masks. Now decided get some Respack someone mentioned upthread as it's in the MDA database at least.

Though will stick to 3m for real protection when going out. I was stocking up on the kf94 cause the earloops & was cheaper to throw away daily. The 3m one with earloop (9501?) is awfully uncomfortable & pinches the ear down even after 5 minutes. The new-ish 9513 has earloops but super expensive at $4-5 each but that's probably the way to go for me then. Will keep an eye on this thread to try out actual korean kf94s but tbh i rather buy from 3M official than some random store.

Yukazan is China made. How to identify, whenever you see inside your box got small piece of cert, means exported out from China. Also if individually packed higher possibility it's made from Korea.. Yukazan is pack of 10s in a box. I'm using it currently. So far I've bought a lot of different brand KF94 even made in Korea ones. Yukazan seems to better fit my face , although do note that per pack it comes with 2 colors blsck and navy blue, 5 per color, the straps for blue ones are super tight so if you're wearing it for long hours your ears will literally hurt very bad.

I bought a box of 3M kn95 9501+. The earloops are not suitable for me too, as they're too tight. And unlike its predecessor (?) 9501, the 9501+ doesn't have the piece of foam at the nose area, causing minor leakage despite its tight earloops.
However, 3M is definitely easier to breathe as it does not have many layers (uses electrostatic charged material to capture particles).

for safety purposes, I only buy from 3M and from its flagship stores. 3M has NIOSH N95 certification which I dont think those local brands hv it. And talking about KF94, how do we verify their cert? Many doesnt hv a cert too, they just write there KF94 and u believe?

When you said you bought to test, what sort of tests are you looking at? The thing with coronavirus is, unlike the haze where you can smell it, we cannot tell whether the respirator is indeed filtering the virus. Just have to trust the manufacturers.

I don’t have any specific tests but after buying what’s recommended just see if suit my face shape or irritate my skin and see any inhale/exhale escape, how much in general but no precise readings. The subreddit does talk about ways to test at home like making a scent spray and whatnot but not sure how deep i wanna go with all that yet.

No since with kn95 it may reduce efficacy like n95 so they don’t recommend. I used to double mask with suspect surgical mask (prob dust, thin from hardware store) when i was saving n95s to rotate in early 2020. If you want save n95s to rotate/reuse maybe?

If you soap/wash and dry it away then test, maybe not accurate, normally will leak.

I think can't wash a mask, only before throw KN 95, in dry situation put the water and see how, this more accurate.

Above I just copy and paste and see other last update approx. wrote is Respack 5 layers not leak, but for me I don't know. I also don't know this kind leak is normal and still safe? I still question it.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what pattern or lines you're referring to. I tried googling but all I got is light (as in candle fire) test where you try to blow it off.

I avoid reusing N95 after visiting high risk places, and I certainly will never wash N95 respirators, especially 3M respirators that use electrostatic material to trap particulates.

As for whether it's safe to reuse, nobody can tell you yes or no. Imo, the most basic thing to be aware is whether the inner side is contaminated when you remove or store the respirator, hence always remove the mask after sanitizing your hands and sanitize the hands after removing the mask. There's no way to know whether the outer side is contaminated, so to reuse or not is personal decision.

Also, kf94, kn95 and n95 are not supposed to be used together with another mask.

True make no sense to wash the mask then test. As washing you changing that composition of what's coming from the factory. Tbh since buy from 3M i don't bother testing. Once come home i throw away in a bin outside the door. Even want to handle cut to open check layers don't really want. For now just buy from reputable sources then don't need try test at home.

It's probably dumb but the best test for me is if i can't smell anything at all, then the mask is good enough for me. Put on once step out of house then don't take off until at front door at home.

For now since n95 and kn95 are plentiful for healthcare workers plus public, no need reuse. Whenever go grocery shopping for example, I wear one then throw. My husband unfortunately has a huge head so he finds them all uncomfortable & hates the double band behind head (plus stubborn) ... so when he go work he only wears a 4-ply medicos surgical mask. I did force him to wear a 3M n95 9010 when he go to PPV but it was tough going lol That's why I keep hunting for new masks as want him to have more protection daily. But it needs to be comfy and easy so lots of 'testing' i.e. buy and try. That's why the kf94s are appealing. Top runners are kf94s and the new 3m advanced filtering/9513 with hook but still trying convince him. So keep the kf94 recommendations coming ...

Your husband reminds me of my MIL. Bought a face shield for her after asking if she's willing to wear, but she complains it makes her feel stuffy. I don't know where the stuffiness comes from, it's not as if she is wearing full chemical suit with breathing apparatus.

As for tight masks, you can try stretching the headloops especially if it's 3M respirators. It helps to make it more comfortable. Unless he has abnormal head size, I don't understand why 3M respirators don't suit him. One basic characteristic of PPE is it is never designed to make wearers feel comfortable at the expense of protection.

It can be reused if u know how to handle it, mainly bcz our hands and the outer surface of the mask is contaminated.

If u wanna reuse, make sure
- do not touch the inner surface
- keep it inside a safety box
- wash ur hands and disinfect ur phones, wallets, keys. And go take a bath.

It all depends on one's risk appetite. If you assume that the loops are also contaminated, storing it inside a safety box - whatever that is - may introduce virus to the inner surface if the loops touch the surface. This is after taking the steps I described before.

And when wearing it, one needs to assume both his hands are contaminated and need to be sanitized.

Yep its quite technique sensitive. For normal person better just don't reuse. Reuse only for those who have enuf knowledge and are very careful with handling masks.

The filtering performance is similar enough not to matter. The advantage of KF94 is that the Korean govt is more stringent in certification and punishing companies making fakes.

Actually is quite simply to identify the real KF94 facemask, if the mask is not approved by KFDA or made in Korea, technically it not KF94 mask!

Another tips is KF94 mask should have print out the manufacturer name and the address at the back of the enveloper.

The benefit is that you don't even need to change the filters very often (stuff that gets stuck on the outer layer will just stay there), just wash the inner plastic part.

Amy Neutrovis KF94 users here? Can you check your packaging?

I just noticed that I had 2 different packaging after buying from 2 different sellers on Lazada.

On the left, just arrived from smart care pharmacy, packaging is not glossy. On the right is from mdes supplies, packaging is glossy on both sides. Both are manufactured in June which make it suspicious the difference in packaging. Box looks the same though. I still haven't open up the non glossy one to check if there's any difference. Will wait tomorrow when wife wants to wear.

She had used the glossy packaging ones from mdes, and since I tried out respack for the first time, I had the chance to compare both. I think neutrovis is very slightly thicker, had longer adjustable bar for nose, but the biggest difference is the inner of the mask. The surface on neutrovis feels smoother, compared to the respack which had many tiny fibers, like those normal mask. I can see that my wife acne has improved after wearing Neutrovis for few days.

Why didn’t you buy from Neutrovis official? Then no doubt. Mine pink color also June manufactured date glossy. Most pink come from Neutrovis official Lazada and few from Watson’s (less than 5). Both packaging mine seem same.

Update - i open all box. The matte with Neutrovis visible on mask is new packaging, cause the blue is new color. Purchased from Lazada official store last week. All the pink is glossy. Black 1 box is the new packaging bought at same time with blue and pink.

Just confirmed matte is probably the new packaging to reduce cost or whatever. My brother bought 2 pink from caring pharmacy and it is matte.

This is not advisable if you have not undergone fit test conducted by qualified trainer. The respirator has sizes and you need to know your size before using it.

i have been using the cheapo KF94 mask it says the brand is SUPMEDI
the layer seems pretty thin but it fits the face well and i find it a bit difficult to breathe using that

How do you tell if its counterfeit?

To be honest it feels pretty nice, seals well and everything (they gave me a half mask for free)

For me, if I will need to check the masks then I will do this:-

1) blow candle test
2) water test
3) Cut to see number of layers against product claimed.
4) Burn test to check if the layers make out of cotton or paper, it should make with hydrophobic materials (normally out of plastic).

5) For N95/KF94/KN95, I will also check how easy to breath and if the mask expand or contracting when breathe in/out to check for good sealing.

Additionally info I'm known here, the packaging should not have FDA symbols as this prohibited by FDA. The packaging for medical device should also containing - manufacturer address, lot not, manufacturing date & exp date, perhaps also claimed tested standard, GB or ISO, etc

There are some Chinese manufacturers of KF94 who may not bother with KFDA certification and only FDA/CE. I think they are still good.

Sorry Respack but shipping so slow, cancelled Shopee order. Maybe if go pharmacy see box will grab one to try. Seems reviews say they are a bit thin? And too large for smaller faces.

Someone in kopitiam thread mentioned wiicare (which is in FDA and MDA). They have official store on shopee. Got these instead - in white, from parkcitypharmacy shop. Maybe this will be the best fit for hubby's huge face as it says "large". The mask reviewer in US says it fits like LG airwasher kf94 good for large face but those are RM10 each if buy from LG official.

Do you know if the 3M 8210 mask filter is strictly a single use item only because its filter media relies more electrostatic charge?

Most people now use one time and throw. Back in 2020 when there was shortage people even medical professionals re-used it and it was perfectly fine even with their high usage. They layer surgical mask on top which is thrown away daily, put n95 in paper bag every day and rotate between however many n95 they had usually letting it air out in bag for 5-7 days. So if someone cannot afford to throw n95s every day, they may be able to get away with doing that process.

What I want to know if is if the filter media on the 8210 is less dense compared to KN95/KF94 and relies more on electrostatic charge to trap particles.

On the box it does state for single shift use only.

Imo the issue is with hygiene and virus. Surface contamination issue aside, there is no way for end users to determine if the filter layer is saturated with virus or has lost its electrostatic properties.

In usage during haze time (or dusty environment), users can smell the haze or dust if the respirator stops performing optimally, or will suffer breathing difficulty if the filter layer is saturated with dust. Both of these serve as indicator of the time to change respirator. With virus, one cannot tell if either of the above has happened.

Besides, a dirty respirator used in dusty environment can be easily spotted. Not so a respirator "dirtied" by virus.

So, to reuse or not strictly depends on user's risk tolerance. Just my 2 sen.

This is somewhat true for 3M 9501+ (kn95). There are a total of 3 layers, compared to 4/5 layers for non-3M type. The middle layer doesn't look like melt blown plastic, more like the 3M aircon filter insert that we can buy to put on our home aircon.

Let me check my 3M 9105 vflex (N95) once I have the opportunity.

As for the 8210, I don't have it now but it's more difficult to breathe in 8210 compared to 9105 vflex.

Maybe, maybe not. who know? many KN95 are claimed by the China manufactures are good, but still failed...

Personally, I will put my money on the real KFDA and Korean made KF94.

1st, the price is too low

2nd, there is no safe guard code

3rd. the packaging seal is not right

there should be a lot more points to prove that is counterfeit but the above 3 are enough.

Bought and tested Cofoe KN95. Cofoe seems like a reputable China company as it is a huge pharmaceutical company producing other medical-related products too.

Tests conducted:
1) Water leakage - Pass
2) Inflammable - Pass

Didn't try to blow candle. As I breathe, the mask contracted up and down.

Review: Quite small maybe because my face is quite big and wide. Despite that, the ear loops didn't break off at all.

Can someone buy and test? It is sold on Shopee for 5pcs per pack, each pcs is sealed individually. RM1 per pcs only.

The wiicare masks fit well, no gap or air leak under chin unlike Neutrovis. For almost RM4 each is a bit steep. The material feels like old school surgical mask or sheets with crinkly sounds, not as refined as N. But at least got MDA/FDA approval.

I would advise against respack. My bro just told me (he was given samples by colleague) black is thicker and slightly bigger (air leaks on top slightly) while blue is thinner and smaller. Today is my third day of using the black color (I didnt want to use but since I want to let my wife use Neutrovis, but she already bought 2 packs, black and blue) and I still feel the slight itchiness due to the inner layer material. Tomorrow I think I will try and see if blue is indeed thinner and smaller as claimed by my brother.

Although Neutrovis do not have the certification, I think the quality is pretty good on the inner layer which is smooth. After I told my wife about the difference in packaging, she proceed and tore up 1 new mask from each packaging and burn them to check the quality. Both are 4 layers and 2 layer melt blown (pain to learn that RM5 is gone just like that when there is internet).

Thanks to your wife for testing the Neutrovis masks. I have been wearing it daily this past work week, tho don't work close to anyone and it is very comfortable. But go grocery store still wore a n95. Dunno when my paranoia will ease to be able to wear kf94s everywhere.

Right now so many options so going to give Respack a miss thanks to all the feedback by you and others in this thread. Really disappointed with their official store, shipping out very2 slow & no communication ... compared to all those random Korean stores or other online orders all through week.

I went and got more wiicare plus some Bluna kf94 from Korea (RM99 for 30pcs). These are mostly for the hubby and his big face/head but still got to convince him to switch from 4-ply medicos to kf94 daily to work.

Another brand I think worth trying is Ezwell. I havent used it before but my cousin just started using it two days ago (he bought these after we condemned him on those unbranded chinese KF94). It looks pretty good upon inspection but havent tried to tore and burn to confirm the materials.

Well, it's expensive for sure. Before this my wife already using Neutrovis 4 layers. I already explained earlier the reason for my choice. She only use mask at work thus only needs 26 or so every month.

As for me, I have been using 3 ply medicos sure to nature of work, hot and humid. The machine broke down and repairman need to wait until mid September for 2nd dose thus I'm currently has some free time to try these mask. I also had some N95 before and totally can't stand the heat plus breathing difficulty while wearing it for work.

Update on Respack part2:

Today I tried blue respack KF94 and I was honestly surprised. On touch, you will feel it is thinner but I dont really think that it is a good indicator since we are human. What I felt is that the outer blue color layer is so much softer than the black ones. Not only that, the inner layer which touch the face is also softer and less fibers were seen poking out. I dont feel the same itchiness like when I tried the black ones. As for the size, I placed one ontop of the other and they looked the same but when you wear it, you definitely feel the difference in size. I think it has to do with the stitching lines difference between black and blue. The black feels like it can tuck in further than the blue creating a feel that the mask is smaller. The black can tuck in until the stitching line touch the chin but the blue can only extend until the flap wrapped around the chin nicely.

It is hard to say which is better really but I think I prefer the blue ones. It is softer, less fibers poking out from the inner layer which dont feel itchy at all, and it still fits my face.

Is Neutrovis KF94 certified? Didnt see any logo at box or individual packaging. Not kfda, ce or mda

Blue one got KFDA logo on the box. Black one just CE and MDA. No KFDA. Maybe that why its different

I got from Watson's official on Shopee the first two boxes. It's the same as the one got from Neutrovis official Lazada. Doubt Watson's bother get fakes esp for cheap plentiful products.
