Who's that CFP?

Sounds pretty stoopid to me...

Hedgies no one wants and sugar glider hard to find in the market... Pfttt... Nonsense!

Keep all 6 together in one place and wanna breed them?

That's a pretty idiotic statement...

There are many-many sugar glider joeys or adult sold in the market. Problem is, the joeys are underage and the adults are mostly wild and untamed.

Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Breaks my heart.

Vincent,

Your suggie is adorable!

Nope, I don't think she's fat... Mine is fatter and I've seen even bigger suggies wink.gif

Perhaps you can take a pix of her on your hand/palm so we can see the difference smile.gif

Yeah, like Reanne said, do lessen or restrict the grape intake, it's not good for them even tho they love it very much.

-----

Have you ever noticed that when you buy mealworms, sometimes they are small and skinny?

Since now I buy them a lot at one go, I have to keep them in proper container and feed them too. Last night I found that all the mealworms are bigger and fatter... Some are really-really big and juicy! laugh.gif I really couldn't resist on indulging my suggies with a lot of fat and juicy mealworms last night, I can tell they are all very-very happy by the chirping sound they make rclxms.gif

So they had a grand feast of mealworms last night, haha...

Iggy seems to know when to stop as he will turn his face around if he doesn't want it. But Luna keeps on begging for more, and more, and more... sweat.gif

Yep, saw the reply smile.gif

I only heard that there are some eucalyptus trees in a park here in KL, but we obviously can't go chopping down the branches of it unless we wanna get caught by the authorities tongue.gif

Other places, I have never heard of. Even some of our local nursery do not know of eucalyptus. Furthermore I do not know the local/Malay name for it tongue.gif

Yep, hope he/she can lead me to where he/she found out about those eucalyptus trees smile.gif

So far the skinny Hibiscus branch keeps my suggies occupied smile.gif

"KP: as for the eucalyptus trees, remember i told you i got two big trunk of it...and now they are growing...but the tree is too tall for me to get hold the leaves...ahhaha...have not given to my glider to try yet ... but i was told not to feed them too much as apparently it is like alcohol where too much will make them "mabuk"...from the documentary i saw last time for the koalas....anyone can advice..."

Sugar gliders may eat a small amount of eucalypt leaves but it would if anything me minimal. On the other hand the diet of Koalas is exclusively leaves & yes the reaction of the leaves in their digestive system can cause a form of alcohol - that is why they sleep all the time. I gather the word "mabuk" is Malay for drunk !!!!!!!!
*

Cheaka,

Yeah, I remember you told me about the tree but after that I got no updates from you ma...

Haha, yeah, too much eucalyptus leaves can make animals "drunk"/stone/high tongue.gif But I have never had the intention of feeding my suggies with the leaves, I just want the branches to make their home more surreal and give them something safe to chew or tear the bark off wink.gif

Congrats on the joeys!

Yes, male gliders are amazingly good fathers wink.gif You will be more amazed and understand their colony and caring nature by observing them more now smile.gif

Taipan,

Ditto, "mabuk" is drunk in Malay tongue.gif

Hun,

Let's go eucalyptus hunting... Haha laugh.gif

OMG! Cute joey! wub.gif

*dies...*

The joey has fuzzy irregular fur coat. This type will definitely look more fuzzy and fluffy.

I noticed that the suggies here has 2 types of fur coat, some will have that fuzzy type, some will have the sleek type. Iggy's fur is the sleek type, while Luna is the fuzzy type. I will try to take a close up of their fur and post it here wink.gif

Hey, when are we going to have a gathering?? It has been a while since all of us met up tongue.gif

Hun, mebbe we can do a big scale gathering plus info day on suggies and call you-know-who to do the coverage smile.gif

minumum how much do i need if i wanna get 1 baby SG , cage and food stuff ?? can SG afford noisy place such as arcade , cyber cafe ??
*

QUOTE(shelter_7 @ Oct 28 2007, 02:43 AM)
i live nearby puchong n sunway area , where can i get it with cheap price ??  smile.gif
*

Cost wise, it's like what CFP has posted. NOTHING LESS.

Starter stuff for keeping suggies are NOT cheap. All must be of the requirement.

Please read up more before deciding on wanting cheap suggies and cheap stuff. If getting cheap is your concern, than a suggie might not be the suitable pet for you.

We have been giving out advise about suggie price countless of time, why they cost a little lot more than other pets, yet people still question this. RM250-300 is nothing if you count their lifespan and loyalty to you for an average of 10 years! (Provided if you care enough to bond and care for them during the whole time...)

As for their basic stuff, it will cost you a bit more than other pets because they need space, lots of space, so a big cage is a MUST... They CANNOT be kept in a "hamster like cage", it's a torture to them if you do so... Toys are also important to keep them stimulated in the long run as they are active and intelligent little creatures.

Read more about suggies and decide for yourself on the pros and cons before getting one. Ask more questions if you do not understand and we will try our best to assist you.

Owh, and yeah, they can stand noisy places if they are exposed to it often and gotten used to them smile.gif

Please read up more before promoting cheap suggies.

We have been giving out advise about suggie price countless of time, why they cost a little lot more than other pets, and what is the difference between those that cost less than RM200 with those that cost more than RM250... Yet people still question this. RM250-300 is nothing if you count their lifespan and loyalty to you for an average of 10 years! (Provided if you care enough to bond and care for them during the whole time...)

Like Hun has mentioned, anything less than RM200 are adult suggies - WILD and NOT TAME. No pet shop seller in the right mind would sell a joey for less than RM250 because joeys are easier to handle and tamed.

But for those who still insist on getting cheap suggies(despite what we have told you), you are more than W E L C O M E to go and get those cheap ones... After all, they ONLY need MORE time, MORE attention, MORE patience and persistance to be tamed... In which you'll also probably suffer bloody bites and scratches and countless high pitched crabbing throughout the process.

hun, kp, thanx for replying in the sales thread ya smile.gif

another advice needed: wasabi likes to poo on my arms. u see, at night i just let him roam around, n he tend to come to me, main main n nibble nibble n jump jump on me, which is fine because it's so adorable.

the thing is, he always, ALWAYS poos n pees on my arms. on average 1 night i go wash my hands around 4-5 times. 1 time i felt so uncomfortable i go mandi at 5am

help me ya smile.gif

how to stop that? i dont mind him poo on lantai, i can alway buang/lap.

QUOTE(sense_less143 @ Oct 28 2007, 09:08 PM)
I'm.. a.. tree..?

so short from caging him at night there's no solution meh?
*

Yes, you are a T R E E to him tongue.gif

And I'm afraid there's no solution for that... Suggies can't be litter train, they will go wherever they want, whenever they want smile.gif

Think of it this way, you're lucky he doesn't do his business all over your bed sheet or your pillow or your clothes which will require you to wash it every single day wink.gif Or even luckier that he didn't poo or pee on top of your head laugh.gif Now wouldn't that be a mess tongue.gif

-----

As for me, nothing much to report cuz my suggies are just like my suggies tongue.gif Forever keeping me a slave and entertained at the same time wink.gif

i wish to get Baby but not adult , i went to MV pet safari yest , what i saw is the Baby SG very very pity , the workers just provide them space like hamster cage !!! : < the price at MV pet safari is RM488 , will it be very expensive ?  i did keep on repeating read the info bout suggies ..
*

Yes, RM488 is super expensive, plus the suggies at PW are mostly adults, do be careful.

QUOTE(Taipan1 @ Oct 29 2007, 11:22 PM)
I think "Gizmo" was the original one & turned into a gremlin once exposed to light - correct me if i am wrong.
*

Yes, Gizmo is the original one.

Gremlins popped out when water was spilled on Gizmo.

Gremlins die when exposed to lights.

Haha, that's the summary tongue.gif

Anyway, Gizmo is no match for Stitch as the character of Stitch is actually based on Sugar Gliders wink.gif So Stitch is the closest resemblance to a suggie biggrin.gif

QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Oct 30 2007, 12:59 AM)
LOL.... do gliders look like gremlins? To me gliders look like that blue alien Stitch hahahah...
*

Haha, like what I mentioned above, Gizmo doesn't look like suggies, Stitch does!

Stitch's character is based on suggies.

Look at the eyes, ears, hands and claw, the way he moves up on the wall with all four feets, how he is known as Lilo's weird dog(becuz suggies bark too!) and the way he makes those weird growling noises when facing threats just like a suggie crabbing wink.gif

The nose does have a suggie shape nose, except it is made larger. And ofcourse the tail is made shorter in the character so that it would not obstruct his movement tongue.gif

I love Lilo & Stitch sooo much too! Watched the movies, series and played it's games, haha laugh.gif

Oh yeah, I have to agree with CFP, the tail does remind me of that marsupilami which I think is created based on a marsupial too tongue.gif

QUOTE(Taipan1 @ Oct 30 2007, 09:03 PM)
Who &/or What the hell is "blue alien stitch & marsupalami ???????.

Also is the plastic mesh people in Malaysia use a "rigid" type of plastic ??. We have rigid plastic mesh up here in about 3 or 4 "hole sizes " - I was thinking about using the rigid mesh but had thoughts about the gliders chewing holes in it & getting out - thought about using galvinised 1/2" mesh ( washed with vinegar or dilute acid bath before using though ). Yr thoughts please
*

Stitch is a blue alien cartoon in Lilo & Stitch, while marsupilami is a yellow polka dot cartoon character with the longest tail ever!

Hahaha laugh.gif I love cartoons!

Okay, about the mesh, most of us here would recommend and use those PVC mesh with square holes appx. 1/2" x 1/2". They have smaller squares too, but it's too small to even put a mealworm thru. It comes in black, grey or green color. I don't think suggies are actually able to chew out of the PVC mesh as I have never heard or experience such cases.

This is how it looks like(similarly), http://www.mcnichols.com/products/wiremesh...nylmesh_big.gif

Comparing galvanized mesh and coated mesh, I'd say coated are better. The coated ones we have here are only green in color.

This is how it looks like, http://www.jdswiremesh.com/images/DHW06.jpg

Hope it helps smile.gif

The ones circled in yellow tu is using an L connector with end caps screwed to it with taper screws smile.gif

Adding end caps can create 3 way connector or even 4 way connector smile.gif

Yeah, DIY a cage needs proper planning and a blue print too tongue.gif

Now all talking about DIY cage, now I feel like doing hahahah.... but must figure out space first loh.....

Ai, my gliders are so naughty, I forgot to cage Kapi and Kiah, at night they turned my room upside down, lots of my things were on the floor.... then they woke me up by barking LOL.
*

Haha, yeah, now I also feel like DIY also... But I want to able to carry it in and out the bathroom easily as I clean/wash the cage every week sad.gif

Almost giving up lah on the cage hunt, those distributors are not helpful at all mad.gif The pictures in the catalogues are just to temp people sad.gif

Haha, so Kiah and Kapi had a ball of a night last nite tongue.gif

Mine barked too last nite but I was too lazy to get out of bad to check on them...

anyone here got some bad habit like me ? sometimes, when i bring them in pouch, i kacau them and sniff sniff the pouch  sweat.gif

Haha, me too! sweat.gif

Since I carry the pouch around my neck, I always like to massage them from outside the pouch, pick up the pouch and kiss it from outside, rub it on my cheeks, talk to it and so on... Haha, sounds like a total nut case!!

What to do, so sayang them tongue.gif

Ohh, CFP, say the cage that you did for Caren, how heavy is it? Can it easily be carried around?

Haha, the disease comes with the suggies tongue.gif You'll be doing all those automatically once you get yourself a suggie, haha laugh.gif

Hmm, light ah? How about like yours? Can it still be picked up to move from one place to another easily? (Ofcourse not thru your door lah, since it's bigger than your door tongue.gif) I mean like pick up and move a bit to sweep the floor or something...

The one at Toby Reptile memang very nice, a bit bulky, but got wheels to move it around... The drawback is that it cost RM290!

I am aiming for less than RM200... If DIY a bigger cage pun tak sampai RM290 rite...

I've already found a big bird cage back in Kelantan with the measurement of appx. 4ft high, 2ft deep and wide for only RM150!! My husband said it is worth the price, but I find the workmanship not up to my par (you see, I'm a very anal person tongue.gif) Almost got it while I was there during raya...

But since I will be going back during raya haji in Dec, I think I wanna do some more hunting here first... If really cannot get, then I will either get the one I found in Kelantan (mebbe if buy a few, can get cheaper! any takers?? hehe...) or resort to DIY lah smile.gif
