Ofcourse lah I meant the suggies tongue.gif

If you get from KL, you can travel by public transport back with your suggie without a problem wink.gif

You see, they sleep during the day and love pouches. So if you bring them back on a bus during the day, they will only sleep quietly in the pouch wink.gif

That's one of the beauty of suggies biggrin.gif

I travel as far as KL-Kelantan with my suggies(but ofcourse in a car lor)... They'll just sleep snuggle in their pouches until arrive to the destination smile.gif

Oh yeah, there's a lot of commitment having a glider and it's a long term commitment too smile.gif

Where are you from?

Some countries don't allow keeping gliders as pet.

Haha, bring them shopping also, people won't know unless I bring them out, cuz they will be sleeping in their pouch hung around my neck tongue.gif

besides.. after graduate I'm not planning to go back work.. here or SG better lol

where u stay? if near here... maybe we can meet up.. or when the time u out for shopping call me la.. wanna play with ur gliders... haha can?!

I see smile.gif

Haha, don't say like that lah, I enjoy Indonesian movie culture and some parts of the country itself smile.gif

I think Indonesia can keep gliders cuz even the ones that comes into Malaysia are from there, not Australia or Papua New Guinea. I heard that they are selling it damn cheap over there, but just be caution if they are wild caught or captive bred.

Haha, I think I stay in far-away land lah tongue.gif In Ampang area...

I always go to Ikano area for shopping or window shopping or just plain eating out smile.gif

Better don't risk it. There has been cases where the S'pore authorities have actually capture people for doing so. The term & fine is definitely a killer. So, just don't bring in your suggies when you visit S'pore...

hello everybody,
i dunno nothing abt SG [sugar glider] blush.gif 1st page has all the info needed, my siggy too and there is a thing called google!
but i wish to have one soon..anyway i need some information abt SG.
my Q regarding diz..hope anyone can answer it ..thx :
1- How much should i spent to buy a pair of SG? Where to get it?...I'm staying at Puchong actly
A pair of suggies will cost you anywhere from RM500 to RM750, depending on where you get it. You can find them at pet shops, online or on LYN.
2- Do i need to buy it in pair or one is enough?Don't SG feels lonely if i jz buy it alone?
I will always advise a pair. They are colony animals so they need constant companion unless you can provide them. YES, they will feel lonely being alone.
3- Normally, what kind of foods dat i can feed SG?Do they drink milk? yawn.gif
Fruits, insects & mix. For further info, refer to page 1. They can't take normal milk cuz they cannot tolerate lactose. It is also not advisable to give them milk unless they are rejected by their own mother. They should be nursing fully from their mother and must be fully independant before separated so that you do not need to feed them milk.
4- Is it difficult to look after 'em?
YES, it is difficult to look after them. Crazymouse has explained how it is.
5- At what age SG will b considering as sexually matured?
7 months and above.
6- Will it bite me? hmm.gif
YES, if it is not fully tamed or scared or not handled properly.

Refer to all my answers above in Bold.

i have a question...

how to know d glider is sick ?

coz mine, the body tempreature like abit high la..

ada beza like that...today i hold a bit warm and the pee like suam2 abit

from the normal pee...
*

Unfortunely there is no specific way to know if your glider is sick. They can mask or cover their sickness very well until it is too late for us to do anything.

However, how do you know you glider's temperature is higher than normal? Did you use a termometer to check? If not and you felt it by your bare hand, do remember that they are not human and you cannot just tell it's temperature by holding it.

Furthermore, they are mammal, warm blooded, so they should feel warm to your touch.

Pee will always be warm or suam. I have never encounter any animal(or human for that matter) pee that is cold or not warm.

All my glider's pee is warm.

I do not think there is anything for you to worry here.

All my pixs are cropped, added caption, watermarked and such by using Photoshop wink.gif I'm a whiz at that, hahaha tongue.gif

If blur pix, Photoshop also cannot help, but if it's dark only, it can be brighten up and bring out all the detail with Photoshop wink.gif

he smells terrible..

he is just 2 months old..

from what i can see is that he lick his underpart of the body at the chest

area sampai all his bulu hilang...his underpart all like abit yellowish

he like cannot duduk diam...he will make noise while licking...

and i can see changes in his attitude...he is slow not as active...

im not really sure...coz right now 430am...he is playing at the wheel thing

can see he is weak lah...why ar ? i give wrong food or he ate fruits that

is already rotten ? anybody care to help ? any vet to recommend?
*

Are sure he is 2 months old?

Where did you get him from?

Upon maturity male gliders will develop a scent area at the chest, thus it will turn yellowish.

Which part is he losing his fur? Could be a sign of over grooming or lack of vitamin.

My best advise is bring him to a vet immediately. We can't see your glider, how is his condition now, so we can't tell and furthermore, we are not doctors.

Vet recommendation, Dr Yeoh of Yeoh Veterinary at Taman Megah, PJ. You can get his full address in the vet list.

Do it asap.

today he looks like very not terurus...

if lack of vitamins...food that i give is fruits and also hun's mixture

thats enough rite ?
*

Yes, a variety of fruits, mealworms or crickets and mix is fine. You can refer to the diet I wrote in the 1st page.

Losing fur can be something serious and like I told you before, we cannot diagnose what's wrong with your glider ourselves, further more we can't see him ourselves.

It's really best you bring him to a vet as soon as possible.

Don't wait and see what happens, get him checked fast.

the bold area on my ah choo's head... its getting wider.. ill try to get a GOOD picture of it later... just wondering if its normal...

Balding for male glider is absolutely normal smile.gif

Be it wider, a little or too much.

Male gliders have a scent gland on their forehead. This scent gland actually produces musky smelling liquids. When this liquid dries and sticks to their fur, some of the fur will fall off easily when they groom. My male glider once got a huge shiny bald patch, but not to worry as I soon found out that the fur will grow back every time they lose it wink.gif

Haven't been around for the past few days, so many things has happened...

Regarding those poor gliders sold at Petaling Street, it is just plain cruel and a sad-sad case... cry.gif Keeping them all like that and selling them for the purpose of breeding sad.gif Breaks my heart to pieces upon seeing the pix...

Yes, those are definitely adult gliders and definitely not less than 1 year. They are all NOT tame. Will definitely bite and be agressive. Even the health of it is not assured. That is why the selling price is so low.

I wish if there is only a way to put a stop for this kind of selling... But what can I do alone when our whole gov/organization is not doing anything?

Trust me, by next year or a few more years to come, glider's fate will become like what has become of hamsters today...

QUOTE(broken_string @ Nov 14 2007, 10:05 PM)
when u say wild glider does it mean they caught it from the jungle ?
or its locally breed juz that not tame?

I'd think that it is most probably caught from the jungle.

Definitely not in our jungle, but in Indonesia.

I don't think there is any locally breed adults as much as that.

*

Gliders cannot be bathe without the proper knowledge to do so. Their fur is highly absorbent, will absorb water very fast and can cause cold or sickness if not dried up properly.

Best to just wipe them clean with baby wipes.

QUOTE(buttercup07 @ Nov 18 2007, 02:20 AM)
2 months old glider can give pinkie ar ?
*

Why do you wanna give him pinkie?

I think mealworms and crickets and boiled chicken meat should be suffice.

Giving a pet glider pinkie can be messy and gruesome as they will tear off the limbs bit by bit to eat it... So unlike snakes that will just swallow it whole.

QUOTE(mypetisabunny @ Nov 18 2007, 06:35 PM)
really?
so..is it really wild & untame?

No sane pet shop or person or breeder will sell a tame glider for that price. Go figure.

QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Nov 18 2007, 10:30 PM)
Yah, really kesian them. They need some place to hide also cannot, so they hide under each other. I fear they may have poor health, diet also so cacat already. I frequent that shop to get other stuff, so i do see them almost once in 2 weeks. People buy them for breeding.... so their only comfort in life is each other and breed.... no human love and affection.... kinda depressing.
*

I don't think I can stomach seeing them like that as often as you do cry.gif

If the intended breeder here are like those in the US, who really will care for them, give them proper housing and food, I don't really mind... But almost all intended glider breeders here, just wanna breed them for money and not taking care of anything else sad.gif Atleast proper housing and food would be almost great already... But...

Pity those gliders, from one bad place to another...

If only I have the money, space and time...

Sigh...

It's better to give it with the food, not just like that.

I usually either add the the vitamin & calcium in their mix or I feed to the mealworms.

Haha, if can get those color variants here, I'd be the first to get 'em.

We don't have any color variants, we only have standard grey.

And I've also checked to import one, but it will cost a bomb and very risky due to the long flight.

Actually, there are so many color names that they use to refer glider colors, and most of the names just popped up along the way, like black beauty, red brown, champagne and so on. From my understanding these are all actually standard grey that has slight deeper or lighter grey coloration.

Some breeders are known to give the color name just to attract people.

Unlike white-face, albino, leucistic, white-tip, ring-tail and a few more I think are actual different coloration that can easily be differentiate between.

Yeah, we should be happy that we even have gliders in Malaysia, but no doubt, I still wish to own a leucistic or ring-tail or white-tip if possible tongue.gif

A 100% Leucistic is priced at USD2,000 and above. Very rare to get and mostly kept by the breeders themselves.

Shipping would cost from USD500-USD700. But it is still not encouraged/advisable as the journey is tooooo long.

That alone is the price form the breeders side, I have not checked the cost on our Malaysia side, cuz converting that alone, it's not affordable at all!

Imported from the USA.

I tried checking with a friend who is coming back from the US, but since her flight is connecting flight, it's so out of the question...

But I still wish... Haha laugh.gif

Thanks for the detailed information
Just checking As was offered before some " albino " glider ( not sure red eye or black eye Leucistic ) as from glider ranch in Indonesia  thus a lower price of just USD 800 - 1000 depending on number of animals bought / wholesaled  !!!

What I know is that not all sugar gilder are WC from jungle , some are ranched from WC parents !!!
*

I would think it's albino glider(with red eye). Leucistic are mainly seen or available in the US only as they do/explore on color breeding.

Red eyes are scary to me, so I prefer leucistic than albino tongue.gif Haha, but I'd take any other color considering our situation smile.gif

White face are more common so the pricing is not that steep around USD350 and above... Haha, with you guys going into colors and all, make me wanna negotiate with them again tongue.gif

Yeah, they definitely have a ranch of breeding WC gliders there in Indo, or else how could they be exporting so many gliders out?

But I wouldn't wanna visit the ranch for it will definitely not be a pretty sight sad.gif

like the white face, albino or those mentioned above...

those kind of glider is not from the normal glider that we are keeping issit ?

i mean, like they mate, then their joey like become abit so called cacat lah..

like jadi albino like that...or those kind of gliders memang from tua to

coz ABU is like 3 months old and the female is like 2 months old..at first she

mating rather then fighting
*

No, those colored gliders are no different than the ones we keep, the only difference is their coat color.

And a big NO that those colored gliders are "cacat" or anything.

Those color breeders study their genetics and do color breeding for a few generations past to see how it works and that is how they get all the colors...

Albino's are not "cacat", they only don't have color pigmentation, thus all fur and coat remain white. We have albino people what, they're not "cacat" in any way at all.

Regarding your Abu and his new mate, did you do proper introduction before putting them together?

Proper introduction will need atleast a week or two in separate cages and interaction or playtime with close supervision.

Gliders sexually matured at age 6-7 months above, some even later than that.

There is no sexual activity here, but most likely fights or playtime.

There is no problem putting a 3 months old glider with a 2 months old as they are still very young, but still proper introduction is needed!

For now, they should not be left together without any supervision.

Read up on proper introduction, playtime and fights, you should have read and studied more about gliders before even getting another one.
