RM400 is normal/standard pet shop price.

From breeders can get a better price.

And like what CFP said, a few hundred is a small price to pay for their long life span smile.gif

Silverwineus,

yeah, I've feed Teddy smaller worms since the giant one scares him. he likes the small worms A LOT. He's been eating non-stop. I stop him when its about his 20 worms, and he begs me with his sad eyes and licking me, and then he moveon to try and open the worm tupperware! tongue.gif

Sometimes they do.

Some say they lack of something or they didn't digest the food fully before pooing, that's why they eat it back...

Correct not Reanne?

Increase their fruit diet, make sure they eat enough...

Last night made a veggie and fruit salad toss for my monsters... Chopped celery, carrot and apples into small cubes, give it a good toss before putting it into their bowl and found everything cleared this morning! rclxms.gif

anyway i'm just curious wats the price range in KL/PJ...  i'm bac in PG now and plan to get 1 very soon for myself
*

Price range at pet shops RM350 and above.

From breeders RM280 and above.

Don't hurry in getting a suggie, take your time with some proper research and such. Ask yourself if you can really commit to having one. Ask here if you have any Q's. Run through the 1st page over and over again if must.

Thanks in advance for doing so.

do i really need a big place for it to stay ? coz wat i heard is that it can be bigger then a hamster cage but then i dont have a place for a bigger ones just for 1 suggie... some say that small cage i can bring it out often to social and play with it rite....

how do u choose and judge a young suggie... i was playing with one which is not more then 5 months old and its very tame with me.... not very active.... or should i go for the hyper active ones...  if that wat they said that every suggie suits different kind of owner is it ?
*

YES, the cage MUST be big. That's why I said, if must, read the 1st page over and over again. Cage sizes and pixs are all there dear smile.gif

It's way bigger than a hamster cage. Even a 3-4 tier hamster cage is not sufficient enough.

Best is a bird cage with a MIN height of 3 feet.

My first cage is a 3 feet one, used that for 1 suggie and then 2. But now I have a larger cage, almost same size with my wardrobe! doh.gif

To carry them around, it's best to use a proper pouch or a small proper carrier. But they must not be kept confined in the pouch or small carrier if they are awake or active.

Sample of pixs of TOO young joeys are also in the first page, you can use that as guidance.

To choose a non-active or hyper-active suggie depends on you and the suggie itself... No 2 suggies are alike... When you get your suggie, they might not seems active at that time, but they could just surprise you on the next day itself wink.gif So any suggie is as lovable as others as long as they are healthy wink.gif

Here's a clearer pix of a healthy suggie at appx. 7 weeks Out Of Pouch (appx. almost 4 months from birth)

Look at how big they'll grow with proper nursing from their parent wink.gif

thanks KP. anyway if i wish to keep my suggie in a small cage not till the saiz of a feet or 2... is it possible to make it happy.... i'm a luv pets but my environment sometimes seems to limit my capabilities to own 1.... use to have a pekingese but have to give it up to my uncle back after a few months of care from me....

thanks u so much for your attention anyway....
*

Oh NO, NO, NO...

Keeping suggies in a cage less than 2 feet or worse less than 1 feet is a torture to them... Even with frequent outing, I don't think they'll be happy even for one bit if being caged in a cage of that size...

The basic 3 feet cage is not that big at all once you get use to it.

If space or environment is a limit, then you shouldn't get one until you have the space or environment for it.

If you truly love pets, you'll think about it before yourself nod.gif

Yes, Pets Own is safe for suggies as its Lactose Free.

Hun has been using it for found under aged gliders.

I'm not sure in what form it is as I have never used it personally, but if not mistaken it's in powder form and needs to be consumed within a few days after opening if not mistaken.

Hun or Reanne would know more about using/feeding Pets Own smile.gif

As above, I have already mentioned 3 feet height doh.gif

Milk also we have been discussing just a few post above dear... Do look closely...

Only Pet Own Lactose Free is best for them, but milk is not necessary if your glider is fully weaned and at the right age.

No need to give an adult glider milk lor...

QUOTE(Reanne @ Feb 6 2008, 03:42 AM)
Got a another sad case today. A friend of mine, he's around his 30s now, has a glider that has been self-mutilating. He has kept it for about 5 months and it has severed it's own tail in half, half naked from pulling it's own fur off, chewed on it's paws until swollen and chewed off half of both patagiums. He also told me his friend has a glider that actually holds the bars of the cage and slams it's face into the bars until it draws blood.

He didn't seem to realize how serious it was already. I tried advising him and offered a home for it, but he seemed more keen on giving his friend(Dunno which friend). He said this friend had been keeping gliders for awhile and should know how to care for it(I disagree!).

This was a result of his girlfriend impulse buying because she thought they were cute and his friend telling him gliders are easy to care for. It is indeed a hard decision for him to make but what upsets me most is that he really didn't seem to know how bad the situation really was. I fear for the glider, hope my friend decides soon, the glider may not survive that long. sad.gif
*

WTF!!!

cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

What kind of person is this idiot??? (If he's your friend Reanne, sorry I have to say that...)

cry.gif

I'm totally speechless!

I know there's nothing I can do about this except that I pray to god to help this poor glider through his suffering and may it end very soon..... sad.gif

I do hope this story/case will open up some eyes in here about why we are too passionate about glider care and welfare... We are not mean, not rude, not trying to act like we know, but just trying our very best because we care too deeply for these little creatures...

It's breaking my heart terribly and I'm holding my tears away...

This is NOT a good morning...

For some reason, when we put it very nicely and explain, nobody really listens. sad.gif When I explained nicely and calmly, he just went, 'Oh, is it?', 'Ohhh... Really?', in a very calm voice, when he explained about the self mutilation he didn't have a pained or sad expression on his face.

If he does pass on at least he won't suffer anymore.

On average, they sexually mature at 7 months onwards. At this time, the bald spot is usually very obvious already.

Some also depends on the glider itself. Some can see little bald spot as early as 4-5 months.
