Woot, woot! Looks yummy to me It's definitely a feast for them! QUOTE(siokjinlim @ Jan 25 2008, 08:26 PM) nice pic !! hi ppl, am studying about suggies.. just visited a website which says suggies can be trained to be in my pocket for half a day, can even bring to college and work, and they will just sleep soundly in my pocket. so, just wondering if its a myth or its real.. if its real, then cool lah, cuz that'll be real nice to have 1 xD Sounds pretty much like the critters I have with me currently So it's definitely real man! QUOTE(ruffyfluffy @ Jan 25 2008, 08:38 PM) KP, do means to me? The pics shown in my threads is not a permanent cage. just to show off to ppl only.. Im still waiting my big cage from supplier as them promise me to get a cheap price. Measurement of dat cage is around half smaller than urs, and exactly the same pattern. Birds cage. *My temporrary cage is not really small, and not a hamster cage. its a birds cage, something for "burung Nuri". Enuff to fit one glider. Consider comfortable for a moment. Yes, the answers was meant for you I was just concerned because you did not mention about it being temporary in your earlier post. I hope it's not gonna last for a month or two. Even for a burung Nuri, I can tell it's considerably small dear, I was supplied a similar cage when I first got my glider and I can tell it's not even comfortable by the way he was making that loop trip around and around the cage everyday. I do hope you take him/her out often from that small cage. QUOTE(siokjinlim @ Jan 25 2008, 09:39 PM) Nope, they don't need to be bathe. If they start to stink, wiping with babywipes should be sufficient. On extreme cases where bathing is required, do consult experienced people like Hun about it. But, on extreme cases only. QUOTE(Pennywise @ Jan 26 2008, 02:12 AM) I come here quite often, for the sake of satisfying my knowledge on these little creatures. Hope I am welcome here and some of you vet will be able to answer my questions even though I possibly will never own any. They are nocturnal animals, so does it mean that if you bring sugar gliders out in the pouch from 8am - 6pm (working hours), they would not wake up? During these long 10 hours, they sleep all the way through?? How about doing their business in this period of time? I also understand that we must keep them as a pair. Then, I read that some of you bring one to work today and the other to work the next day - take turns. I thought they cannot afford to live alone as they are colonial in the wild. So Monday comes, you bring A out to work for 10 hours. You left B at home alone for that 10 hours. Tuesday comes, its B turn to go to the office with you and A is left behind. Wont this have a negative effect on them, especially when they're alone for 10 hours, they wake up just to friend their friend... gone? Enlighten me please. Thank you. Hey, you're welcome here anytime. It's a never ending learning process... So far I've brought my suggies to work from 8am to 7-9pm without a problem They don't poo or pee during sleep time lar (I think I've answered this Q many times before...) Similar to humans where we don't actually poo or pee when we are asleep right (except if you have a really-really horrible dream of course So far, I have brought a single suggie to work, but the one left at home is never alone lah... I believe it is okay to bring only one along with you cuz they'll have you as company, but I've never left one alone at home However, for bonding process, I think it is still fine to bring along one and leave one at a time as long as at the end of the day, they are re-united QUOTE(jinhoe @ Jan 26 2008, 02:21 AM) will changing their sleeping time to nite affect them? they are nocturnal by nature. and ya, 1 thing tat my fren ask me, how many nipple a sugie have? more than 4? You can change they're sleeping time, but since they are naturally nocturnal, it won't vary too much and it is still best to allow them to follow their own sleeping time A female suggie has 4 nipples only QUOTE(Pennywise @ Jan 26 2008, 11:15 AM) I would like to ask how much do we need to spend on a pair of sugar gliders if we were to give it a luxurious good life? I know they need a lot of time bonding with their safest tree, their human. But I never asked, how much of financial commitment does it take to own a pair. Anyone can answer me your monthly expenditure on your pair of sugar gliders? Please break down the amount to each items. THank you!! Monthly for a pair, Mix = RM15.00 Fruits = RM20-40 Mealworms = RM4.00 If you are using a litter sand or sort, then add how many bags of it per month... I used to use the Litter Star, 1 bag a month which is RM13.90 Then the supplements are calculated per year appx. RM110.00 Hope that helps QUOTE(Pennywise @ Jan 26 2008, 09:20 PM) Well, I think things will be considerably cheaper if we bought fruits and store in fridge, right? Correct me if I'm wrong because I eat fruits but seldom have them at home, usually is also road side stalls so we never keep before. My cost above is based on the fruits are well kept in the fridge So like one apple can last about 2-3 feedings KP |

QUOTE(sharil_routh @ Jan 26 2008, 10:24 PM) today my friend told me that he went to pet safari, and he saw three dead sugar glider in that shop and they put inside glass cage (where before this there put racoon) and my friend said the dead sugar glider look dry, I feel really sad, why they must do to animal like this. and the one in cage at the counter look tremble. *speechless* QUOTE(huh? @ Jan 26 2008, 11:29 PM) issit okay if i cover the cage with fleece blanket so that i can keep my room clean from poo and pee? is the poo and pee has a strong odor? cause since it is going to be inside my room, i want to keep everything smells fresh and near to odorless You can cover the part you place their feeding station. It is not wise to cover the whole cage as it will only cause the smell/air to be trapped inside and make it even worse... The normal pee will have slight smell. Marking pee is the strongest. Poo will smell depending on what you feed them lor... Haha, it's very hard to keep it smelling fresh and odorless lar... QUOTE(siokjinlim @ Jan 27 2008, 12:09 AM) haha.. tat means better go for females suggie, no? um, btw juz wondering, is it okay if we dont give so many variety of food at 1 time ? maybe like, 1 day papaya, next day apple... or maybe this 3 days ciku, the next 3 days watermelon.. and etc... Male and female suggies are equally good! If the smell, marking or balding puts you off from getting a male suggie, then you do not fully understand the wonders of suggie! To me, my male suggies "ROCK!" Yeah, a variety of fruits does not mean feed a variety in a day. I feed them a variety of fruits daily, meaning today one type, tomorrow another type and so on, so forth QUOTE(broken_string @ Jan 27 2008, 02:09 AM) but i have done nothing to reduce his suffering yet he dint choose to be mine, i am the one who choose him therefore its my responsibility to take care of him. its been a stressful week for both of us, hopefully he can make it till my cny leave start then i can focus my full attention on him. i will bring to the vet tomolo morning and see how it goes, according to reanne his condition is not as simple. anyway thanks alot for ur encouragement. he is a very good boy since a joey and very manja with me, i love him alot. if he cant make it, i dun think i can ever replace him with another glider. most likely i will giv up the hobby, the hobby u so wish for, so ironic huh mayb god really like to play tricks on ppl Hey, be strong! You've done all your best and keeps on doing the best for him. I wish him speedy recovery! I understand how you feel, your first glider is always special, I have cried many-many times when my husband asked me to give up Iggy before... I cannot imagine life without him... Somehow I believe he will recover from this pain... You just have to hang on a bit more okay... QUOTE(silverwineus @ Jan 27 2008, 12:20 PM) Heyy... Wakaka, he seem to grew more understanding about my love and passion for suggies How'd you imagine his reaction when I wanted to get the HUGE cage? Ofcourse he flipped like 360º, but I managed to tie him down with some reasonable reasons Now and then he still ask me, "Until when you wanna keep these suggies?" Usually I'll just keep quiet, make myself busy and pretend I didn't listen... But in my heart I answered "Until their last breath lor KP |

I declined because they wanted to make a story about me bringing my suggies to work...
I don't wanna make it that public that you can start bringing suggies to work and I don't wanna make it seem so easy one... If they had wanted to make a story about keeping suggies and such, I would've accepted it... Sighhh... I was worried more of the bad outcome... I'll try and ask my colleague again if they would wanna make a different story lah... We are actually planning to try and make a media coverage about it IF we were to held the gathering lor... Get a reporter to cover/write about our gathering... But until now got no time to realise that gathering... KP |

QUOTE(Reanne @ Jan 30 2008, 01:15 PM) *sighhh* Amidst the busy-ness, we have to start doing something... Let's try and make the suggie gathering/workshop/responsible glider ownership talk - happen! I'm proposing 1st March or 2nd March as THE day... What say y'all? Need to confirm the date and day asap if I wanna get a reporter to cover it... QUOTE(spel'it @ Jan 30 2008, 04:34 PM) hahahaha.....well....for me aa...compared to toddler (1-3 years) i think suggies are more complicated. hehehe.... QUOTE(broken_string @ Jan 30 2008, 07:56 PM) hi thanks for ur concern he is not well yet but can consider stable for now i started work adi, many thing to follow up since i absent for a few day adi and also alot of thing to finish up before i go for my cny leave so bit hard to juggle between taking care of him and work i will update about him once i have the time. thanks alot Good to hear that he's progressing Awaiting more updates soon QUOTE(silverwineus @ Jan 30 2008, 08:32 PM) I have kept my gliders anonymous because their names may sound queer, wierd.. But anyway i'm going to start first, and KP promised that hers will be next..hehe. I don't know by what ways you guys differentiate among your critters..I can tell mine apart by their coat. The male has short and sleek coat whereas the female has fuzzy or irregular length of fur coat. Both of them don't have English names.. They only know their given Chinese dialect name. The full name of the male is called XiuMengZai.. in concise accent, i call him MengZai or XiuMeng or MengMeng The meaning of the word is as follows. Xiu - little Meng - clever Zai - boy So adds up to Little Clever Boy.. The full name of the female is XiuLai.. In short, i call her XiuLai or LaiLai Xiu - little Lai - pretty or beauty So adds up to Little Beauty. Anyway these names were not given by me, it was by my mom and i quite like it as well. Now KP, yours is next, haha.. No they don't sound queer... They just sound Chinese A name is still a name given no matter what it sound like as long as it feels right to your own tongue Okay, okay, will share mine below QUOTE(sense_less143 @ Jan 31 2008, 12:26 AM) hello~ I'm back after a loooooooong hiatus. Is anybody from shah alam? I've been wanting to get a partner for Wasabi, but keep postponing because there's a possibility that I might be able to further my studies overseas. I'm really afraid that Wasabi is lonely. Of course he's healthy as usual, playing and jumping all over the place, but I read that most problems in sg aren't visible until very late stages, and I really want to avoid that. So if anyone live nearby, can I bring my Wasabi to meet your sg? I think he'd like that Do read and understand what Reanne has replied. It's true, it's not easy to just get a friend or playmate for your glider... A proper introduction is a must. I can't simply take my glider and show to your glider in order to let them be friends or play together, that's most likely not gonna happen... Once a glider has accepted another glider pulak, separating them will only cause stress and depression. It's more advisable to get them a permanent companion. ----- Okay peeps... Introducing Micah and Molly... ![]() ![]() Guess which one is Micah, which one is Molly? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « So now I am full handed with 4 climbing, crawling, barking little monsters!! I suggest, to give some more allowance.. 1st is a Saturday, 2nd is a Sunday. Either days lah. Timing, mebbe noon or not so late eve? Yes, appx. 1 month from now. Everyones having a P A R T Y ! And finally get to see Teddy!!! QUOTE(Reanne @ Jan 31 2008, 06:33 PM) We can chip in. Somewhere with a good amount of passerbys and a convenient place to get to. Bukit Jalil Park, I think got ppl that may have trouble getting there, or ppl who won't wanna go because of the location. I don't know where that is kedo... Hotel may not allow, but shopping malls may. After all, they do allow animal exhibitions, why not a Suggie Education Program? Aiyo, if Bukit Jalil, so hard for me also... I'd be chipping in some money for needs of set-ups and such, but if too much is needed, ofcourse will probably need some donations from some of you here I'm thinking a shopping mall too QUOTE(huh? @ Jan 31 2008, 08:25 PM) how bout klcc park? decent amount of people, dont have to pay for anything ( i guess ) , its in the middle of kl, should be convenient right or maybe not ? cause the traffic inside KL is a killer..huhuhu KLCC parking sucks! Wayyy to expensive... And before you say take LRT, for us/people with set-up or stuff to show, would be hard to carry it all via LRT right? QUOTE(silverwineus @ Jan 31 2008, 08:28 PM) Haha, currently I'm thinking of the pet friendly mall - IKANO Power Centre or One Utama... QUOTE(silverwineus @ Jan 31 2008, 10:57 PM) "Micah" is really a nice name, personally i like it very much.. Now in deep thought :"How you come up with such nice name?" It's gonna be a good name for a kid if i have one .. Don't you peeps think they are like identical twins or sth.. I think they must be very nice to be cuddled.. look fleshy fleshy and chubby chubby As for the names, hehe, refer to Reanne's answer below Haha, they're siblings bro and sis... A bit hard for me to tell the diff too, but Molly has more bolder gery stripes than Micah and Molly is a slightly crabby character QUOTE(Reanne @ Jan 31 2008, 11:04 PM) Aren't those names from Heroes? Micah the boy who can talk to machine and Molly the living, breathing tracking device? Ditto! I love to pick a name from characters I know KP |

We dont even do our own study except reading on the internet ( is it all true? Then how could you address yourself? As a pet owner for few months and studies over the internet for a year? Yeah, get mad at me for saying this but experience is not all.. Get these peoples to talk: - Researcher - Vet - Owner (did i miss any?) I noticed that members in sugar glider thread are likely to get angry and show off like they know everything.. haha! ( this is true Well, u guys really dont like me to post right? Just telling what i feel.. Again, it's your choice to argue or discuss nicely bout this. p/s- this is general, not appointing anybody. *Intruder, intruder, intruder... Ofcourse it would be good if we can get a proper researcher or vet to talk, but unfortunately we don't have any of those professionals about suggie here in Malaysia dear. It'll help reduce the red dots or scratches on your arm and most importantly it'll help prevent their nails getting stuck and them hurting themselves while struggling to get loose... Not only their nails grow sharp, but curved too, and because of that, if they get stuck it does take a while for them to let go successfully. KP |

Not the place problem or what, but if wanna get a reporter to cover, need some time to inform them wor... Neutering with Dr. Yeoh, if 1, no discount cuz the assistant said tedious procedure and such... If 2, dunno, haven't asked yet... I'm looking at alternatives at the moment, I mean try another Dr. but have not talked to her yet... Will keep you updated kay QUOTE(emino @ Feb 4 2008, 12:48 AM) Do gliders eat oranges? Doesnt see that on the list on the frontpage. I have a box full of oranges now. CNY ler. Yeah, I was thinking the same place where they had the Ferret Talk last time lar... Ooo, they call it the dog training room eh... Will check it out QUOTE(spinel-sun @ Feb 4 2008, 03:34 AM) the 1 hun gav me ia eagle pack holistic select, chicken meal n rice formula.. yea it's for dog's but it's save for snuugies too cz it has other added stuff like carrot, peas, apples, blueberries, cranberries n etc... i giv her 1 kibble a day n she luvs it...she also luvs milk..lactose free...pet's own milk.. wah..she can finish one cube a day... i sure hope she grows all big n strong... Yup, can try Eagle Pack or Orijen or Acana... I'd say only these 3 is safest and better Currently I'm trying Eagle Pack too, but not all my suggies eat it. Iggy is the most old fashion one, he never takes the kibble - at all! He goes for the fruits, mealies and mix only All these contains added stuff like fruits, berries and veffies too But just for treats/added supplements kay, like 1-2 piece a day only. KP |

Owh, sorry, I didn't realize it perhaps...
I've read thru the ingredients before Contents quite similar to Orijen... First time only I tried Acana, then I've been using Orijen all along, now only trying Eagle Pack... Is the contents for Cats and Dogs different? Mine all for Cats... KP |
