last week just bought a 1kg pack Nutriedge Lamb and Rice, then try to feed FIFI with it. She straight away wallop the whole bowl. doh.gif
Now mixing Canidae with it to encourage her eat, must finish the remaing Canidae Lamb.
Nutriedge really smells better, and the ingredients looks good too, no corn no soy. But for that price, quite alot of filler (rice).
Anyone else feeding Nutriedge to ur furkid????
*
Yes I do... I feed Moonie Nutriedge Stage 1 and I realized that Nutriedge will have worms easily at the end of the box if kept too long. Got some white white things on the kibbles. I'm not the only who have said this, read page 2 or 3 of this topic, someone else said so too. I give her Nutriedge because it is breeder's food, transitioning to Blackwood puppy.

A quick report...

Tried half a packet of orijen (got free from a friend  brows.gif ) Discontinued feeding Novacoat supplements. Siu Kat's coat is indeed shinier and smoother than usual. Normally if i discontinue Novacoat, there'll be noticable dryness/dullness in the fur.

Most importantly, with Orijen, sh*t size is very much reduced and smells less (a must for indoor dogs  smile.gif )

Siu Wan unfortunately developed some kind of rashes after a week or so. Mine are indoor, couch potato dogs, so perhaps the high protein content is a no-go.

A real bummer then because for Siu Kat, Orijen works wonders  sad.gif

Since Orijen is out, went to Seapark to replenish Eagle Pack supplies, but guess what, something new came in...

A bit pricy, but seeing that Orijen doesn't work for Siu Wan and that i am no longer satisfied with Eagle Pack or Blackwood, decided to give the fish and potatoes pack a try. Plan to try the organic one next.

Anyone's tried this before?
*
Hihi, I tried this before. Bought it the first day stock arrived at Seapark. I think it's OK but expensive. After Casper finish the pack, I went ahead with a 7kg Evanger for both Casper and MOonie. Now, I'm like everyone else, looking for container to store the dog kibbles. Cant seem to find any.

Hi, i've been feeding Nutriedge to my dogs for 1.5 years... so far the best brand i've tried..
here are the reasons why:

1) The LEAST filler percentage in any dog food...
Try soaking Nutriedge , Eukanuba, Eaglepack, Blackwood and Innova Evo kibbles in water....
It takes 5 hours for Nutriedge kibbles to soften....
But guess what, all the latter brands, the kibbles swollened in 15 mins!!!!!!!
I'm very impressed with the compact ingredients Nutriedge actually contains!

2) NO preservative...
that's why if you dont put them in air-tight and moist-free environment...
White stains (i.e. maybe fungus) grows....

So far, i've bought 25kg breeder pack... kept them well in air-tight containers for at least 3 months,
never i've encountered the "white stains" and "worm" problem wor..............

3) Less smelly poo poo
BIG difference from other brands!!!!!!!!! Less cleaning work for me too!
All in all, i've tried so many brands.... and the results that Nutriedge brings to my dogs are undeniable satisfying...
My two dogs used to get sick a lot..... Serious... I used to run them into my vet twice a week...
But after i feed them Nutriedge, they're now healthy and happy!
*
Wow, first time I see people promote NutriEdge. On the other hand, my dogs cant seem to get themselves settled with Nutriedge lor. Watery poo, dont want eat, etc.

QUOTE(angelgurl_nee @ Dec 7 2007, 01:43 AM)
got those container de...especially form tupperware..just that its very costly for a gd airtight container...
im gonna beg my mum to gimme one of her tupperware product to store mikey de food XD

Acana has practically half of the protein content in orijen right?
i tried acana and even acana mikey oso showed too many not gd signs so i don dare to even think of switching to orijen jor ler...im sticking with blackwood XD
*
Acana is low profile of Orijen also Mikey cannot take? I think the protein content should be around the same with Blackwood?

QUOTE(iluv2zzz @ Dec 7 2007, 01:45 AM)
I use Tupperware product... Giant Canister 9Liter one lolz... 4kg should be okay....

Added on December 7, 2007, 1:47 amAnd oh.. I went to Carrefour saw some Big Round tupperware... those people buy to store keropok one ah... I prefer Toyogo brand (oh of course Tupperware the best for me).. Toyogo cheaper..
*

All the talk about kibbles, anyone have any idea where I can find a big container, large enough to keep 10kg of dog food and preferably air-tight? Else, those keep keropok ones will do. I have seen them before, just no idea where people bought it from.

So many NutriEdge supporter. On the contrary, I dont really like NutriEdge. It was the brand that the breeder fed Moonie, my second Westie.

When I first got her, she was a bit sickly, so I bought the NutriEdge just to ensure that she dont have to change her food and give her diarrhea. I only fed her about 2 weeks, then I throw away the rest for the crows to eat when white fungus / worms start appearing at the bottom of the tong.

Casper vomits often. We often think that its because he is hungry and his stomach build up acid, so we give him more food but that didnt help solve the problem. In fact, he still does vomit some times, mostly in the morning and yesterday, Moonie did too.

Anyone can share some experience of why my dogs are vomitting sometimes?

pennywise, after they eat, did they induldge in playing?

My sister told me that they actually vomitted in the cage. Sometimes, in the evening, Casper also got vomit in the cage before... Too bored wont cause vomit, is it? I stopped bringing them out for these few weeks. WAiting for Moonie to get her last vaccination this Sat before taking them out for their daily walks... That should not be the cause, right?

Enzymes for digestion eh? OK. I will try it out. While we are on the topic, those 15kg dog food, do those bags come with seal or we have to keep them in a container? I'm planning to buy a 15kg bag, brand undecided but preferably one with seal because I dont have a container to store 15kg of kibbles.

I opened a bag of 7.75kg Evanger for Casper and Moonie on 1st of Dec and by now, more than half is gone. I think it will only last a month. So I need to get a bigger pack next and share bit with my gf.

Yups. That's true. It is also better to have the water at shoulder level.... reason is gulping in air..... it causes bloat, which is a painful disorder of the stomach....

Every dog tolerates each brand of dogfood differently.... so eaglepack can be good for 1 pup but bad for another.

Dogs can vomit from eating too fast, wolfing down their food in a few minutes.... sometimes barking after food can cause vomiting, same with minor jumping and running or playing. So best is to let your dog relax for about 30 minutes after a meal before letting it play or run around.
*
Hi Hun,
Do you mean placing the water bowl at their shoulder level?

Yups, water bowl. As you put the water bowl at shoulder level, your dog doesn't need to bend down. It lessens the gulping so less air goes into their tummies. My boxer and lab both eat on stands, their bowls are on stands that are at their shoulder level and their water bowl is on a step, so it is raised up. Normally bloat is quite common in big dogs.... but for your dogs, you could try this and see if the vomiting stops or continue....

A water bottle controls such over drinking of water.... but not every dog likes a bottle hahahah....
*
The amount of water from a water bottle is too little. Every time their tongue strokes the cap, it drips a few drops. It needs too much work and Casper hardly ever touches his water, so I give him a bowl instead in order for him to drink when he feels like it. On the other hand, water is probably the best food for Moonie, she ALWAYS finishes her water bowl VERY quickly no matter how much we give her, so now, we only fill his water bowl ~2 - 3 hours for about ~125ml (soft drink can capacity), and she pees a lot. Is it healthy for dogs or will water wash away their nutritients?

Now, I need to look for a step up for my doggies to drink their water from. Thanks for the idea!

Yah, Chelsea gets very frustrated with the bottle.... so she takes from a bowl too but she doesn't drink too much.

Hmmm... somehow, Moonie drinks ALOT! Wow.... Hmmm... I would be concerned a bit. Do read this:

http://www.todaysthv.com/life/pets/AskDrBo...x?storyid=14134

Maybe get a urine test for Moonie to check.

Anyway, you can give a bit of Gatorade mixed with normal water for Moonie to drink so her body doesn't run out of minerals.... 1:1 of Gatorate to Water.
*
Yes she drinks aplenty while Casper drinks little. Now that's worrisome. I will speak to the vet when I bring her there for her last vaccination this Saturday.

Why recommend me mix Gatorade? Can I find that in 7-Eleven?

I am going to buy a new bag of dogfood soon. Hopefully something over 10kg cause the last 7.75kg of Evanger I bought, opened on 1st Dec... now almost finish. I think can last until second week of Jan only.

Any recommendations for something over 10kg? Best it be all-life stages cause Casper is 1+ and Moonie is 4 months old.

Natural Balance? I'm trying on the organic one at the moment. So far, their skin problem has been solved and the poos no longer smelly.. Quite good i would say...

If you dont mind spending, try sigma 7. The ingredients are superb...
3kg is RM 80++, 13kg is about RM 280++

Added on December 26, 2007, 11:06 am

20 kg is breeder pack wo... you got enough number of dogs to apply for breeder pack?
*
Junnie,
What's Sigma 7? I know there's another organic brand in a brown bag but then dont have big bag. Yes, I had previously fed d*** Van Patten's Natural Balance. I was hoping of changing to something else.

By the way, you have not send me the photos of the Westie to my e-mail. I hope you remember we SMSed?

I am feeding Natural Balance and the poo smell is quite strong. Kindly advise.

Mua..ha.ha.. I finally found a recipe to make the poo not smelly.  Add in an organic ingredient into my dog kibbles together with brew yeast.

I feed my dogs with Origen, and their poo really stinky!  Ever since I add that secret ingredient (dog show breeder secret) into their food,  their poo no longer smelly.  And that natural ingredient is supposed to  make their fur long and shinny as it contain Omega 3 & 6.

Ha..ha...those want to know what secret ingredient is, need to belanja me coffee/teh tarik first then only I share the secret.

Let me guess... Is it fish oil? Or is it cod liver oil? Hehehehe...

I dont like my furkids to drink from those water feeders because they have to lick about 10 - 100 times to get the right amount of water, especially if they're really thirsty from a walk, the tongue some more have to flap about 100 times to get the right amount cause its only a few drops each flap... Kasihan so much work.

Today, I noticed that the only pork dog kibbles are Back To Basic. Anyone know other dog kibbles made of pork?

On normal days, I let mine drinks from the water bottles, but if I bring them for a walk, when they reach home, I will give them a bowl to drink and clean them afterwards. That's the only time they will drink lots water. If on normal day I give them bowls, they will also lick once or twice at one time only  rclxub.gif

Hihi,
Cool cool... Whenever I bring Casper and Moonie out for walks for long distance (e.g.: a reservoir hill near my house), even if I bring the bowl and water with me, they wont drink it wan. They will only drink when reach home. Weird attitude. But I think drinking from water bottle like too minimal and too much work.

It's like eating chicken breast meat and chicken wing. Both require the same amount of work and peeling but chicken breast meat has more to eat. Bowl and water feeder? Same theory.
