Saw a couple of them on the road so far, maybe still test drive models only.

Gen2 can't replace Wira coz it's not as practical and the price was too high...
Was wondering why they didn't release Persona 1st, then oni Gen2...

^that's highly unlikely since the persona is the sedan and bug-fixed version of gen2. so if persona is released first, it'll have all the flaws of the original gen2, and the so called later released gen2 will be the bug-fixed, aeroback version of the persona. time paradox eh?

But since the model is to replace WIra, shouldn't they release the sedan 1st then oni the sportier aeroback?

Persona is improvement from Gen2, not a new design. They are no way to release Persona 1st.

the previous CEO try to go for young sporty executive. But failed miserably. Now their target are switched back to family type of customer.

maybe at that time they feel that they don't need a sedan version of gen2 because they have the waja?

malaysia no need sporty car lor..... jalan sempit dan negara kecil.... nak pi mana sangat...

didnt see test drive sticker ler. saw the HL blueberry tea at Proton showroom Mutiara Damansara. and the SA told me no HL OTR yet.

just call proton mutiara damansara. SA said 4 HL need 2 wait 2 month . . . still have to QQ,QQQ

2 month oledi fast leh. In Melaka it's 2-3 months for base and M-line while H-line it's 3.5-4 months

a wrong strategy i should say.

supposedly a more practical version should be released first, before coming up with a different version.

my guess it was more of a gamble as P1 presumably thought market perception in Malaysia had changed but it seems with the Persona's launch, it shows that Asians still put a premium for 3 box car designs

I did test drive it but it was at the Tesco supermarket so I can't give a proper impression about it. Unless I get to test on mixed routes then I can say something

The gen2 was the brainchild of the former CEO Tengku Mahaleel (as u all know, his the main reason why proton screwed up as well ) and the car was designed according to his taste and decision, hoping that the buyers will follow his choice. It was a huge mistake as he did not bother customer's feedback and that resulting to one of the main reasons why the gen2 failed.

To make matters worse, the gen2, supposely a wira replacement, did not replaced the gen2 as they felt the wira should be continued as that is one of the proton models which is selling well still (of coz, coz there no replacement yet )

However under the new MD, Syed Zainal, and management, the persona is designed based on the gen2 owners feedback and customer feedback as well. The MD, being a customer priority person back in the days in perodua, has resulted the persona the car finally malaysians wanted for.
