 Shopee Dispute Problem, Warning everyone about Shopee

UPDATE : Dispute closed! Please see edit 3&4 below to find out what happened

This is to warn everyone to avoid Shopee if you want to avoid problems with delivery and disputes. Their customer service sucks big time and always side with sellers. I didn't know this before, until i encounter a dispute and check on Lowyat for advice - only I found out there are many similar cases in which buyers have to waste so much effort in problematic disputes!

My story timeline as follows :

12 June - Place order and paid for an Amway product
21 June - Order status still hanging at "to ship". cannot wait already since 10 days has passed and I need the item urgently so I cancel order
21 June - Seller rejected my cancellation and immediately update status "shipped" with DHL tracking number
23 June - DHL rider called and inform me the package is empty - just a plastic package. I told them to return the package to seller.
24 June - DHL rider delivered empty plastic package and inform me to request return via Shopee as seller is refusing to accept return of the package.
24 June - I requested refund/return via Shopee
27 June - Seller raise dispute
28 June - I provided all evidence to Shopee
29 June - Seller provided statement saying item is "shipped via Amway Truck"
30 June - Shopee agreed with seller and informed that request to refund will be rejected since item is shipped
1 July - I demanded shipment details because seller has not provided any information at all
1 July - Seller provided a tracking number which can only be tracked via Amway website in which the account user (the seller himself) can view the status of delivery.

So that's what happened - 3 weeks of frustration. I had to purchase the product from another seller (it's not cheap!!) because I urgently need it - got it within 3 days too.
And for this particular seller - i still have no idea when his item is coming.
Seller has abused the delivery tracking system setup of Shopee by sending fake empty package to ensure i cannot cancel.
Shopee has supported such seller by not holding him accountable.
I have done all I can think of in this dispute, and now I am just sitting duck waiting to lose the dispute. Maybe someone have advice for any further action.

Just additional information - I did check the reviews of the seller - they are all good reviews (fake or not, i'm not sure). I've always been careful about choosing which shop to buy, and never face any problem or dispute on Shopee until now - consider it bad luck on my side.

But bottom line is - bad luck can strike anyone in terms of horrible sellers, but we get the choice to determine which platform to use - so I am definitely banning Shopee from now on!!!

Edit: adding image of dispute proof because someone is questioning the authenticity of my story, also to add that this dispute is still not closed, but Shopee has informed that it will be closed once I receive the replacement product
Edit2 : Some people are questioning DHL's rider's action in calling me - I wish to point out that the rider is actually very good in proactively checking with me before he deliver the item to confirm that I am actually expecting a package from the seller and that he notice it is an empty package (he was just holding the plastic package and felt that it was empty) - I received the plastic package unopened, in good condition - just that it is an empty plastic package (refer to photo below). The product order is a very bulky item which should be packaged in a box.

Edit3 : Update 2nd July - Took everyone's comments to heart (thank you for all the support and advice) , I decided to make a huge fuss by writing a long rant on the dispute channel scolding the shopee agent for not checking properly the seller's evidence, threatening to complain to KDPNHEP if this this is not resolve immediately. Also, i found out today that a friend of a friend works in Shopee - due to the large value of this dispute, I decided to ask favor from for my friend to check on my dispute. I don't know if that has any effect but I finally got a reply from the dispute agent finally providing some form of support to me by instructing the seller -"upon checking the tracking is invalid. Please do update us on the shipment details by 03/07 before 5pm."
So hopefully I can get some resolution out of this soon.
Edit 4 :
Update 2nd July - Seller is now saying the delivery is via "Ninja Van" - but he still gave the same tracking number that he gave for the "amway truck". Went to Ninja van site to track - but the number is invalid
Update 3rd July - Some driver in green Proton car delivered a package today noon. Was totally caught surprised. Yes - it is my ordered product.
Upon checking, took note of several shady details on the consignment note - printed on the note is showing that it is a city-link express, & not ninja van, not amway truck. Consignment note tracking number is still the same as that given by Seller during dispute, so i again check the tracking number status in citylink website, but it shows invalid. I'm guessing by now that the delivery tracking is most probably fake. Anyway it is all totally shady.

I decided to close this dispute up. Although I am forced to double purchase the same item (due to the fact that i bought from another seller after receiving empty package on 24th June), I will have to accept today's product as a spare because I am tired of feeling angry over this whole situation. Also, my initial warning still stands - I believe that it was only after I made the huge fuss (and maybe because at the same time yesterday I sort of got help from my friend to question the internal people in Shopee) that the seller somehow "magically" delivered the product via "DHL-Amway truck, Ninjavan-City-link" so quickly. I am not sure if Shopee will actually take any action against the seller for their shady tactics, but I included a list of all the problems i noticed in my message.

I haven't had problem with my orders before but Lazada is still my preferred platform because Shopee has shitty customer service. They don't even answer the questions asked directly.

I bought an item last week but it was shipped out late even though their system is supposed to automatically cancel it past a specific date.

If you use credit card you can file dispute with the bank.
P.S: you should have accepted the package and record yourself opening the sealed packaged.

i think story not complete

cause my own experience with shopee they usually biased towards buyer, whenever got dispute they take buyer argument one

i experience late send also i cancel, and seller reject, then i cancel say cannot wait need fast, so shoppee accept and refund

also like goods come not complete, order 5set come 4set, i take photo and shopee accept and refund for the set


so to say shopee biased towards seller like not full story somehow

Here lazada at least jack ma setup the KLIA hub and create few thousand job.

I only use shopee for cheap ass products. So even if I get burn, I won't feel too bad and waste too much time on it

There was once I nearly got cheated and made tribunal claim against shopee and they finally gave in to my refund request

Of course lazada isn't perfect, but in my case its wayyyy better than shopee. If buy expensive stuffs must use lazada, even more exp a bit also nvm

At the point where seller update with DHL number, I expected the item to be delivered within 2 days via DHL, so I accepted it since buying from another seller also start process again to wait for item to be delivered. I only decided to cancel/refund request once i found out the package is fake/empty package.

I used to buy via my sister, but she moved away and her membership just "died", so I don't know any amway member to buy from.
Purchasing via Shopee/Lazada for Amway product is very common. I've done it plenty of times before (just this particular seller is bad experience)

TS how is it possible for the shipping company to call and inform you that your package was empty ?

Is it their duty to open your package ?

That's the problem with online shopping platform. I tried to sell online and my request to deliver and install the product myself was denied. They wanted me to use their delivery platform. I am sorry I doubt the delivery platform is capable of doing a perfect job especially proper installation.

Just threaten to report kpdnkk, sure they fast fast refund. But memang lazada CS way better. Just few weeks back I bought few items and one of it damaged during shipping. Contacted customer service then next day itself refunded. They even personally called me to tell me they issue refund d.

Already repeatedly said in lowyat Shopee only takes care of seller and gives middle finger to customer. Returns and refunds if good seller will approve if bad seller your out of luck. That's why anything over 1k I never buy in shopee.

if empty then is bigger issue than late, its stealing money directly,, shopee supposely even more agresive in protecting your interest i think

My bad here - i used shopeepay to get the coins. That's just me trying to be frugal.

Also - in the dispute, Shopee is saying that seller already shipped the "replacement" product....meaning that they accept that the DHL package is failed, but since seller already send the replacement via Amway truck, then they will close the dispute after I receive the replacement product.

If you have waited to accept the delivery, record the package being given to you, and then open the package, confirm kosong, then you have the evidence already la. Then, you can tiao the seller and shopee. In the meantime, just buy another one from another seller.

In my experience, shopee will support the buyer WHEN there's photo evidence. If the seller sent out the item, of course shopee will still side with the seller, and ask you to wait to receive.

it's the rider who called me and I think he was just worried he's making a mistake sending an empty package - and it's very obvious it's empty. it's literally a small plastic package which has absolutely no feeling of any item inside it. You can just take any empty plastic and feel it - you will understand what I mean then.

I suspect that the seller did indeed sent out the item however the it looks like the delivery guys decided to take it.

Even if the package was empty, the delivery guy has no business in opening up the package under any circumstances.

Which is the right course of action of all parties

Just wait for it, record of receiving and opening the package, then if confirm empty, then you can tiao everyone.

exactly- my frustration here is because the seller send fake empty package to delay, and now saying they already shipped the product via another delivery, in which shopee consider as a "replacement" product. So they will wait for me to receive and then close the dispute.

usually courier with have the weight record so no worry one

if weight already not correspond to ur item, or the weight only reflect the envelop weight, then its obvious what was going on


shopee can check trace these info and decide take ur argument/not one

They are not scared of kpdnkk these days also.
I find it weird also that the delivery guy interfered. By right their job is only to deliver regardless of the weight/content.

But anyways, Shopee CS is really shitty one.

the delivery guy did not open the packaging. This is not DHL fault. i received the package in good condition and open it myself - but it is very obvious it is empty even before opening - can feel using hands that the plastic packaging is empty.
the seller is also not disputing the DHL package is empty - he is disputing that he delivered the item via amway truck, and it's still in shipment. seller send the empty DHL package and shopee's platform update delivery status as delivered (via DHL) just to avoid my cancellation and while waiting for the delivery from amway truck

I don't know if Shopee check with DHL directly regarding this dispute - but Shopee is using the fact that seller has provided evidence with tracking number that shipment via amway truck delivery is on the way to me - they're saying that they will close the dispute once I receive the replacement item via amway truck (which I have not yet receive).

24 June - I requested refund/return via Shopee
27 June - Seller raise dispute
28 June - I provided all evidence to Shopee
29 June - Seller provided statement saying item is "shipped via Amway Truck"
30 June - Shopee agreed with seller and informed that request to refund will be rejected since item is shipped
1 July - I demanded shipment details because seller has not provided any information at all
1 July - Seller provided a tracking number which can only be tracked via Amway website in which the account user (the seller himself) can view the status of delivery.

So that's what happened - 3 weeks of frustration. I had to purchase the product from another seller (it's not cheap!!) because I urgently need it - got it within 3 days too.
And for this particular seller - i still have no idea when his item is coming.
Seller has abused the delivery tracking system setup of Shopee by sending fake empty package to ensure i cannot cancel.
Shopee has supported such seller by not holding him accountable.
I have done all I can think of in this dispute, and now I am just sitting duck waiting to lose the dispute. Maybe someone have advice for any further action.

Just additional information - I did check the reviews of the seller - they are all good reviews (fake or not, i'm not sure). I've always been careful about choosing which shop to buy, and never face any problem or dispute on Shopee until now - consider it bad luck on my side.

But bottom line is - bad luck can strike anyone in terms of horrible sellers, but we get the choice to determine which platform to use - so I am definitely banning Shopee from now on!!!

For those problematic transaction normally I will record it during collection/delivery and I will open it in front of the delivery person. At least I got eye witness.

Kana few times already like this in several platforms. I got my refunds accordingly but yes it is a frustrating experience.

Even right now I have one problematic transaction-seller keep pending sending the item that I already paid - already passed 6 days. I request for refund but he/she rejected it.

I don't have a lot of refund experience cause most of my orders are delivered but I think maybe got 3 times? All refund no problem. Didn't take a lot of effort tbh. 1 of them took about 3 weeks though. The rest was pretty fast. So far my experience as both buyer and seller really not much to complain about.

Just wait for the replacement and open new dispute if got problem with the 2nd shipment.

Even if shopee reject ur dispute u can always complaint to KPDNHEP if u not satisfied with the solution.

Filed refund after no longer seeing update from J&T courier since last Saturday. Shopee CS advised me so because the delivery date already exceeded.
But today both sellers refuted back asking me to wait until 6-7th July because my parcels already at J&T warehouse. Shopee agreed with them asking me to wait also. 😑

Totally fark up. If Shopee allowed me to choose Poslaju as courier to deliver I already received all my parcels last Saturday morning.

I have fully moved on exclusively with Lazada now, despite spending a lot on Shurpee before. It seems that some Shopee sellers are 'intentionally' not sending products in good condition. If they want to mafia, then so be it lor. The 10-15% cashback is no longer interesting la if service is shiet. Lazada shipping so efficient man, I get my products within 2 days nowadays, so surprised. As what Bezoes said, very simple, it's the three qualities any eCommerce should have:
1. Selection (depends, China products Shurpee still better, but local one mostly on par)
2. Price (all same same la, just look harder in the platform)
3. Convenience (Shurpee no longer)

To answer the above on why Shurpee is siding on sellers:
Usually on a platform, you usually serve either the seller or the buyer. it's hard to focus on both, or aligning both together, because of market forces. For eg. if there's less sellers in the marketplace, of cuz they want to serve them better first. Initially when they are ramping up, buyers are prioritised, but now, you know la. and also, do you think they're really earning from sellers or buyers, although buyer is forking out the cash? Because of wide selection, buyers' decision are more fragmented, but there are products which are popular, and not many sellers for the same produk panas. Since there are other ecommerce competitor out there as well, it's better to keep the sellers within the platform, and generate the sales for them. Since the buyer has been scrolling on the platform regularly (their coin programme), it's easier to get a buyer to buy something on the platform when the eyeballs are already there. When the stickiness is already there, and since price is elastic hence you're easily swayed by price, Shurpee will just shoot out promo and your hati gebur liao. So essentially you're trapped because you're convinced that they're offering a 'better price' when in actuality, they're trapping you in the illusion. In other words, they're incentivising you to "don't bother checking on other platform, you get the best price here" until of course when buyers are tired of their shiet, while at the same time pressuring you to purchase with their cashback which is time sensitive.

The step is, ensure do not click package arrived until you received and open the package and confirm all in place. Good to have unboxing video, but I never had to go through such length. If not satisfied, immediately click refund and provide picture as proof. As long you have strong evidence, you'll win.

I did all of that and thought I have a strong case of winning the dispute. However, not only did Shopee not hold the seller accountable for sending an empty plastic to me just to prevent my initial order cancellation, they're allowing the seller to "send replacement product" via another logistic company that couldn't be tracked. And now I have to continue waiting to "receive the product". I have complain that how can I just be made to sit and wait - but the dispute agent is not replying.


I have previously been cancelling and requesting refund through shopee with no problem also- most sellers are reasonable, and if got any dispute also, it's usually solved via photo of defective product.
This is the first time I encounter receiving an empty plastic packaging....and Shopee is allowing the seller to get away with it.

Lazada has improved a lot recently. I find that the sellers in lazada also higher quality than shopee especially China sellers.

The irony is that all the previous lazada exec jump shop to shopee when bought over by Alibaba. Lol.

the seller could have provided me with the 2nd shipment details much earlier on to prevent me getting more and more frustrated - but no - after many messages back and forth, only the seller provide a tracking number. But when I try to check - the tracking number can only be tracked using amway's website in which only the account holder (this is the seller himself) need to login to track.
I ask for details when item shipped, what is the current location/status of delivery etc - but the seller until now refuse to give.

all this are red flags and Shopee is still not supporting - still saying wait for item to arrive. in the meantime, my money is stuck there, and i had to pay to buy from another seller the same product.

Today my staff penign kepala, she just want to change address as EMCO is coming, but Shopee revert it to the seller, and seller say kenot even when the item is not even shipped out yet.

Shopee said, sorry, nothing can be done.

Mampus. Now nobody will be in office and I wonder what's going to happen to the item.

I bought a portable hard disk from a shopee seller and proven its a fake. Thumb drive with metal bar inside casing as weight.

After raise dispute seller agree for me to return and refund, but the return address is very obviously fake.

Ask seller to change the address, keep saying that is not their address, when ask to change to a valid address, quiet...

Write email to shopee complain, the usual "yes we will pass to relevant party to investigate" then quiet...

I kena bought imitation item from a preferred seller. I raised dispute but shopee sided with seller. The item wasn't expensive (RM30-ish) but I was irritated because I was making an effort to find the original one and the imitation one was being sold at roughly the same price as the original.
After kena liao only I thought to check the comment section (I didnt think before to do this because I thought sellers with 'preferred' status are safe. Got like another 2 people calling them out that it is a fake item but they gave good ratings anyway because 'it still works'

If me,I always check low ratings first regardless of the status of the shop (Mall/Preferred etc). Then see the screenshot from reviewers how seller packed the items.

For harddrive and micro USB I always buy from official stores,no local or shady China shops which usually sells 10-20% lower than official stores. No problems so far.

Those who gives 5* memang cannot pakai sometimes.
Received item incomplete/poorly packed - it sokay,seller already refunded my money. 5*
Received fake items (it's very obvious fake B&BW items) - memang original guys. Wangi wangi wangi sangat bau tahan 5 minit je sbb ni body mist bukan EDP. Serious barang ori ada bar code murah pula. 5*

SHOPPE only takes care of sellers. Personal experience. Never got my refund. Seller still happy selling in shopee.

Customer service is like Mentri Takoyaki. bloody useless and will reply something every time and NEVER INTENDS TO DO ANYTHING to RESOLVE the matter.

it came different from picture - and with one look, i knew it will not fit

1 ) raised dispute, seller ask for evidence
2 ) post picture evidence, item vs picture ..
3 ) tested it = and did not work (as expected) = seller say i have no experience handling sensitive stuff (electronic chip) - and that i might have damage it myself
4 ) shopee agree !!! (????)

go to lazada buy, although more expensive .. part came, matches and fit and it works .. cant take picture and show shopee cause case already closed (they very fast want to close case)

it seems that for shopee and sellers there = they are the king .. customers are the useless prick

at this point, if the amyway truck has not deliver pass the delivery date. u call & raise voice at shopee call centre & ask for refund. since u have give 2nd chance already. if they wana delay just say nvm, i will proceed with police & kpdnhep report.

kpdnhep really helpful. more than 10 years ago i apply for BIG Prepaid Visa card. i pay like rm20 but the item never arrive. i report to big prepaid they say i need to pay for another card. i say its not my fault, but they say its procedure. i make kpdnhep report & later big prepaid send me another card for free.

as long as u got proof u not in fault as buyer, kpdnhep will surely help u.

And I notice they have changed their shopname - when i bought it, the product, it's also still called Secret_honeywithu but now i try to link back to the shop - It's now called Honey_
How come Shopee refund you and yet not supporting me? I also took photo of those evidence to show.

Can i ask for your help? can you provide me with a snapshot of your order number with Shopee? I can include it in my dispute and say this seller is a total scammer and has been scamming more than just 1 person. Would be so grateful for your support!!!

Apasal don't find preferred seller... normally those sold online are from Amway China de...for filter ok la..but the supplement...I macam doubt at bit...

I suspect that the seller did indeed sent out the item however the it looks like the delivery guys decided to take it.

Even if the package was empty, the delivery guy has no business in opening up the package under any circumstances.

Patutla when I requested to provide my own delivery to customers on Shopee my request was declined. Kononnya ada spesial agreement involved.

I now having problem with Shopee. I purchase from official store, Unilever. Item was shipped out on 18 June. Item received at J&T LDC subang Jaya since 19 June. From 19 June till 30 June, nothing happen. Suddenly on 30 June, status changed to delivered. But I did not receive anything.

Raised refund, took them 5 days to respond. Sent me email, but the email cannot reply, keep delivery failure. Chat, no respond. No other alternative email to sent to.

Shopee's customer service is useless. I purchased some tea last month from a reputed seller and during transit (courier was Shopee Express), the package was contaminated with something smelly like detergent or perfume. I raised a dispute with Shopee since it was their fault the packaging was contaminated but they refused to take responsibility. Luckily the seller was kind enough to replace the affected products. Stupid Shopee.

shopee dispute agent always side with seller

I apply for a Return&refund , seller accepted but after that he dispute and claim he dint received , but true is He trying to resent back the item to me
and after that Shopee agent decided to reject my refund because he think seller already send a " NEW" replacement to me , this is so fked up ....

Now myself also kena from an irresponsible Shopee seller called FullCoverMart.

They made a mistake by advertising a misleading product and claimed haven't receive after I sent it back. Now even kena blocked when asking for a refund.

Stupid useless seller from some East Coast state.

Now I hope Shopee will refund me in 2 days. If not, gonna spam the asshole with negative reviews.
