Got la.

Sir, Duke, Duchess mana ada you refer by name saja.

But of course not as perasan as those here, because here banyak get title by way of purchase with purchase ala Watsons/Guardian.

But why you dont consider them as your real friends after they get titles?

I said, I would avoid schoolmates, not real friends. Real friends, I would stick with calling them by names sweat.gif

Yup Malaysia only. In overseas they will said they got an honorary title given by the king. If you are a foreigner when you hear that, melompat tak? Ingat Knights of Round Table...

Itu Java pun ada including one cinapek with Tan Sri Datuk Dr (Cam Soh). Open mouth speak english, worse than my sampah man from Bangladesh. Even the cinapek can't read contracts, hire PA from chinese school to read and indicate where to sign.

Honestly don’t know why or what a dato is.

Like people be addressing them as Dato instead of their first names, but i could never be fucked.

They acted like they were speaking with royalty but i never got it, maybe i’m dumb.
When i was a kid i just called my parents’ dato friends uncle, and now i just call them by their first name.

You ran into email addresses that incorporate honorifics ?

As in DatoDrKnives@glcxyz.com.my

I've seen it a few times

Cringe like fark i tell you, like what you say taken a few notches up

We're a feudal society with an unhealthy obsession with titles

Close friends with Dr got a few , medical doctor and academician. Usually the Dr is tongue in cheek mostly i refer to them by their name.

Dato i seriously know none personally. Zilch. Those that are acquaintances arent close
