Was also abit upset on not able to watch Cruella or even the upcoming Black widow. Seems that all hotstar will only get access to this movies 3 months later. Even the India site will not screen same day as in cinema unlike the western countries. Right now i can see trailers for Raya which is releasing soon but 3 months after its theatrical release.

So those plans under hotstar whether will be 3 months late always (and must subscribed to premium some more).

You’d still have to pay additional fee for early access though, i think it’s 29.90 usd for each movie on top of the disney+ subscription
Not like same day premier like hbo max with no additional fees

If it really is then this assteruk really damn chee bye. Can't compete with them so they decided to monopolize.

Symptom of our country. No competitive advantage and cant compete globally.

Thats why nowadays content is king (not infrastructure or worse distribution service as this is so easily copyable). Why amazon prime, netflix all wanna acquire content companies. Only thing astro can do is provide local content but market is so small. Hence India can still do because of bollywood industry and China will be same as well. Not sure how big is other ASEAN markets.

Anyway i already discon astro since Feb. Ask me to give back the box tapi never come and collect. Save 1800 every year. was waiting for disney+ only and hopefully come with the Fox Sports but looks like have to wait a bit longer.

Ayam very sad and angry because Malaysia ALWAYS gets the shortest end of the stick.

In the U.S.:
- Disney+ with Premier Access
- Hulu (can be bundled with Disney+)
- ESPN+

In Australia:
- Disney+ with Premier Access
- Star (which is basically Hulu but for international market, not to be confused with Hotstar which is totally different)

For Malaysia?
- Disney+ WITHOUT Premier Access
- Hotstar (which we all know by now, is hugely inferior compared to even India's own Hotstar, let alone Star in other countries

To rub it in our sad faces, here's Singapork:
- Disney+ with Premier Access
- Star
- Hotstar as a standalone service (WTF)

I don't really mind that much if we don't get Star (sedarlah kita 3rd world country), but why the fuck is Premier Access excluded from our Disney+ la??
You can try VPN to US, or Australia, or to Singapore D+ website, you should be able to see Cruella being made available in Premier Access. Ours xde.

That means when Black Widow comes out July 9th, these countries can stream the movie immediately, while us Msians will have to wait between 45 days to 90 days before the movie gets trickled down to the standard Disney+.

Fuck this shit.

Singapore > Malaysia since 1990s. Amazon ships some stuffs to Singapore not Malaysia, even though it is just next to it. Many services are available in Singapore but not Malaysia. Biasa lah. This kind of treatments from western countries.

So answer is Shopee. whistling.gif

Market size is not truly the issue. Korea is doing pretty well nowadays. It depends on how you want to market it and how much the government wants to control it.

Hulu and ESPN+ only available in the US. Other countries get Star (not Hotstar) as a Hulu alternative.
Here's my understanding:
- Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ are all standalone services, not bundled.
- As such, many users in US subscribe to the standard Disney+ without Hulu and ESPN+, and then VPN to Canada, login to the same Disney+ account, and then enjoy Star that offers more content.

Wow! Never knew about this, thanks!

Confirm Astro is involved, just like how they did with HBO GO.
HBO Go initially launched exclusive for Astro subscribers. Only 1 full year later non-Astro subscribers can join in. Really damn chee bye this Astro. Fuck them.

Monopoly loh. What else.

Last time cable companies all have big monopolies over contents rights, but netflix has disrupted their grip and now with Amazon and Apple also coming in, soon we will be going back to old school bundle deals like Astro.

In future to get a complete movie library we will need to subscribe to many online streaming providers, and probably will have one aggregator like Astro again.

Sorry, that was my US Disney+. Subscribe since the beginning but never knew about the extra content. I thought it was 100% the same everywhere. 🤭

From 10 minutes of browsing, I think Disney+ with Star really can challenge Netflix.

About premiere access. Yes, with an extra 29.90 USD per movie.

Was it a genuine US subscription, or from Shopee?
After what's been going on with Hotstar here, I'm seriously contemplating for a US account.

Most of the streaming options we have are shittier than what is offered in US. It’s all because of Astro.

Look at our HBO Go and Amazon Prime. The library is pathetic compared to US. Even our Netflix library is smaller than US.

Actually not much difference. Disney+ library is not that big compared to Netflix but they are slowly adding Fox contents. A lot of the Star Wars and Marvel movies are not something we have not watched before.

The main reason I am subscribing is for the new series like Mandalorian and Marvel series. Also the cartoons library for kids are more popular stuff compared to Netflix.
