No, that is normal. Chin toe look like that. smile.gif

Hair loss can be cause by fungus(red skin), fur slit, diet, fur chewing and stress. Just take it easy, chinchilla is very hardy animal, provide them with right diet and enviroment, they will thrive.

You have not show us your chin picture, we been waiting for so long....

O... the toes indeed look abnormal now, i thought it suppose to look like just a bit of hair lose on toes.

did you change your bedding recently? you can try to apply fungus powder on her toes. just monitor is her eyes and pee pee area got hair lose or not, cause the toes will transfer the fungus to the eyes area if indeed that is fungus. Allergy to bedding will also turn out lose hair on toe. Other then that, you chin look fine. smile.gif Great picture, he look tame when you hold him. smile.gif

that's why i'm sooo worried last night when i saw the toe like that. not sure if he's allergy to bedding. i got him for around 1 month++ already been using living worlds pine shavings.
or should i change?
is he grey? and i think he don't really know how to bath or he don't like to bath. i did what you taught me leave the dust bath in for 15min but he only go in once. n take 1-2 rolls then come out and never go in again. how can i teach him to bath longer or to bath properly?

Added on January 17, 2010, 1:03 amand he's so tame staying on my hand because he's busy eating something hehe.. the only way to lure him close to me. but when ever i walk pass his cage he'll surely have lots of action jumping here n there, climbing the cage to catch my attention. last night after playing he was making sounds in the cage. sounds like trying to talk or what. when i ask what's wrong he'll reply with the same tone. so funny.. but i can;t understand what he's tryign to say.

Yes, he is a standard grey. what is the colour of his belly? can you take a picture? Should be white, very white.

Dont use PINE shaving, unless it have processed to remove the oil n aroma. Use others brand, like chipsi, or any softwood, timber wood base bedding. You can also use a toilet for him, easy for you to clean and you can use wide range of bedding like breeder celect, back to nature, woody pet, kaytee softsorben bedding, and many more. that will give you a good control of what she step on. She definately is begin infected with some skin bacteria before you get him, do you mind tell me where you get her from? Get some fungus powder to apply on him first(APPLY DIRECTLY). Soon I will have some medicated dust powder to help disinfect chin have those skin problem, soon. smile.gif

You can't understand what they trying to said, but you can understand the tone of they emotion soon.smile.gif

Since you take the picture from chincare, they have show you how to treat fungus as well. If you no bath sand, first thing you need to do is get another dust bath.... Then get the anti fungus powder... mix it and give your chin a nice bath.

If you have the fungus powder on hands, you can put a little bit on the infected area, it can clear up very fast.
