Is the X90K(55-inch) still a top contender or the best TV to get in the RM4-5k+ range?
*
Must be FALD? I think some pages back there's the 55" A80J in 5.5k ish.

I'll check it out! Thank you. Doesn't have to be FALD, just want great PQ for movies and 55" since placing in bedroom.
*
I have 65” A80J for living hall and 77” A80K for bedroom. As long your lighting condition is ok, OLED works wonders. Most of the time I’m watching in dark condition in bedroom with headset Bluetooth 😂 don’t want to disturb the wife sleeping haha.

but sometime i can't stand the lag from in google UI

tried to limit background process in developer options but apparently it will reset to default after power off
*
I have 2 TV, one is connected via 1Gbe ethernet, another is on Wi-Fi... the one wired felt faster (A80J), while the wifi one is felt a bit more sluggish... (A80K). This is noticeable when just boot the TV up. I guess the connection takes time for wireless.

maybe everytime the tv start up then it will try to connect to wifi first before the home screen populated?
but the lag occurs everywhere for example when you change/exit to different apps
*
I'm using apps only mode for both TV. Pretty fast LOL. I think if you use full feature then it requires to wait for the rest of info to load and hence slow?

Definitely X90K. XR processor ftw, Sony TV is plus point is always the processor and in this case is the flagship XR.

Which YouTube app are you using on your Google TV Sony? One that’s better than the stock app and hopefully able to skip ads 😂 and keep track of the watch list.

After using SmartTube, felt like my processor got an upgrade in performance over the native YouTube app 😅.

I still prefer ori youtube layout than smarttube
But will go back to smarttube once my premium lapsed
*
This SmartTube is good that it even skips ads within the video… damn smart!

Layout wise I see quite similar, so I’m rather happy! This SmartTube is much more snappy navigating. I guess it is lighter than the native app.

Would like to ask, is there any remote control app for X90K TV?
*
Apple HomeKit? If you’re on iOS.

Guy, what is the best media player other than VLC to allow streaming movie  from local NAS?

I am try stream my mkv movie directly from my TV rather than playing it from my Zidoo player.
*
Can VLC on Sony Google TV output lossless audio codec?

I use Plex when I’m not playing those with lossless audio, if those with lossless I still use my Z9X.

Is it just me, or does Dolby Vision basically just make the entire screen warmer?

It's far too warm for my liking, but they say that's how the movie is supposed to be.
*
I’ve not compared movie with and without DV, however I seem to prefer the warmer profile (standard vs cinema).

cause a lot of people are very use to blueish white as opposed to real D65 whitepoint.
*
Could be, I noticed most of the monitors I calibrated before and owned are mostly blue-ish and when calibrated it more yellowish.

That could be it, perhaps my eyes are so used to blueish white.

So you guys usually set to Dolby Vision Bright or Dolby Vision Dark?
*
Depends on my ambient light condition actually. Just tweak accordingly.

Damn it, I have a bunch of Dolby Vision contents in my USB, but apparently DV is not supported(has green and purple tint) via USB?

I tried to play the video using VLC, Kodi and built-in player, they don't work. sad.gif
*
I play DV via Plex, it only supports the single track type.

Wait a sec, if you see green and purple tint means your display not getting the DV layer... I see that when I playback DV only files via PC.

Just (Video) Player is able to play the DV contents.
*
I googled this app, saw the "ExoPlayer" info. I've seen this on Plex... likely the same type of playback method.

Currently i am using lg oled c2 48... Planning to switch to 65 inch but budget only enough for 65 x90l or x85l... Is it advisable switch from oled to flad?
*
My personal experience, I own a 65” A80J and was looking for a 85” size for my living room. So I went to Desa Home targeting the X85J… but when I was looking at the TV, my eyes kept going to the pesky 77” A80K which was sitting beside, for someone who is used to OLED pretty hard to turn back 🤣

Hence I blew my budget and went with the 77A80K instead. Go to those big retailers and look at the comparison yourself so you know what you’re getting.

Yea out of warranty. It broke bcoz my kids. Accidentally swing a plastic toy over and ding the screen. Jst like a few mm ding enuff to destroy the panel 😖 the quote to replace/repair not worth it.

Now all toys or whatever is banned in front of the tv 😤
*
sweat.gif oh it really "break"... I thought some parts internally spoilt.

QUOTE(gebe @ Sep 11 2023, 11:17 PM)
I place the tv next to the main hall sliding door. For SDR content on daytime with natural light, its bright enough to watch even on 15/50 brightness. For HDR, maybe want to wait at night with less light to make the color really pop. But still good enough to watch on daytime.
*
If can watch with dim lighting, really nice biggrin.gif. And there's different coating from the different sizes... my case the 77A80K and 65A80J has different finish, the A80J one is more prone to glare from light source vs the 77A80K's.

Just got my Sony TV! I ordered 65X85K for RM4080 back in April and finally got the delivery last week. To my surprise, it’s a 65X85L that got delivered!
*
Senheng? Likely they ran out of older stocks.

Side note I just realized there’s one video codec that the chip in Sony can’t decode, VC-1 😅. Some older 1080p has this weird format tsk.
