QUOTE(tmc @ Mar 27 2022, 05:09 PM) I split it and notice my 5G has only 2 bar, whereas the 2.4G has 3 bar. Only connection to 2.4G is successful. The 5G cannot never succeed. I guess your 5G is much less wall and obstacles. My 5G is upstair - downstairs. Maybe the signal is less efficient for vertical distance. 5G never succeed? Actually there's a trick to this. You can try manually select channel in your router. Aim for lower one around 4x-5x. It will help with 5G compatibility with cheaper wifi dongle as well. QUOTE(Topet @ Mar 30 2022, 02:38 PM) for everyone who wants to buy A90J backlit remote just call Sony Service Centre and ask them for remote. Just bought one and need to preorder. the price very affordable just MYR160. RMF-TX621P is the model here in Malaysia. I'm more interested to know if the new K series remote will work with J model or not.

QUOTE(tmc @ Mar 30 2022, 01:53 PM) The issue here is that my phones and pc are able to use the 5g connection, and an additional cheap router can also connect to it. Only Sony cannot. So Sony 5G wifi is sub par. Period. I could add a cheap router and use it as repeater it will work ( ie the additional router provides an ethernet for Sony and it connects WiFi 5g to the original internet router ). But that will require additional powered up device. My router has no such setting. Only can select 20/40/80 vs 20/40. Both setting making no difference. Cannot connect. I'm pretty sure most router would have channel selection. Maybe got advanced wifi setting?

QUOTE(tmc @ Mar 30 2022, 04:39 PM) Okay okay I changed it to channel 40 it is able to connect using 5G. Let's see how stable it is. Tq for the suggestion. Should be fine la... The problem is actually quite common. My hisense tv also cant connect unless I lowered the channel and so are my wifi dongle for my pc. Some laptop with atheros or realtek wifi card are also likely to encounter such issue.

QUOTE(otnuus @ Mar 30 2022, 06:26 PM) That also depends on our environment. Like my house, I think all my neighbor set their transmit power to maximum. 2.4GHz is almost not usable. I simply turn off 2.4GHz radio on my router. Even the shorter range 5GHz I still can detect many AP available. In my case, the lower 4 5GHz channels are more congested. I get better throughput with the higher control channel. Best is to test it out and use the best performance channel in your environment. By default, it should have been 3 digits channel unless they knew some stuffs about network. Moreover 5Ghz range is shorter and had poor wall penetration. More often than not, there won't be much interference from neighboring routers even when they were set to lower channel.

Recently found out can use Google Home to control X90J via WiFi. No need search for remote if just using apps.

QUOTE(writesimply @ Apr 13 2022, 05:02 PM) X90J has local dimming. That's it's key feature. The X85J does not. Personally for me, the FALD also not the main difference since 65X90J only had 24 zones. Personally I choose 90J due to XR processing vs X1 on 85/80J

QUOTE(shinchan5347 @ Apr 16 2022, 09:37 AM) Anyone have the update for the price in big home expo? I wonder if these roadshow can beat online offer... Unless they are not interested to carry them back or want to clear room for new stocks. This morning tried my usb dac from stoner acoustic and surprisingly works with X90J. I remembered it didnt work with Hisense Android TV. Now can hold back my urge to buy soundbar. This post has been edited by andrekua2: Apr 17 2022, 01:53 PM

QUOTE(tmc @ Apr 17 2022, 03:46 PM) Tell us more about this stoner acoustic usb DAC. I cannot find "stoner acoustic" in Lazada or Shopee. Stoner sold them in garage sale few years ago. Was using it as soundcard but psu broke down and still haven't replaced them. This morning hand itchy and tried it with X90J and pleasantly surprised to see it was working really good. Now can use my Edifier S730 instead of the lousy tv built in speaker. https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4391557/all

QUOTE(otnuus @ Apr 17 2022, 11:55 PM) Have you try connect your speaker directly to your tv audio output jack? Probably it will work too but not as good as your dac. It will work as well but SQ will be very different. Previously bought a ugreen bluetooth to pair to my speaker but didnt use because of stuttering in youtube with the Hisense. Was thinking trying with Sony but suddenly saw my dac and thought to try and see.

QUOTE(Barricade @ May 6 2022, 08:47 PM) My 7 years old 60” Sharp made in Japan still kicking…. I was waiting for it to conk so that I can upgrade… but it just won’t die. I have RM230 voucher in hand. Tomorrow last day…. Hmm…. Still got made in japan? The panel perhaps. Yeah, if no kong, then wait is better because mini led model just released in US. The mini led version should be superior but price wise would be slightly higher. Maybe you can wait next year for discounted X90K.

QUOTE(Puteih @ May 13 2022, 02:51 PM) Went through a quick stroll in HomeDec. Sony is one of the exhibitors there. They only showcasing 65X80K, while the rest are J series. If I'm not mistaken they are also giving out 5 years warranty (instead of normal 2 years warranty). Maybe already factored into the price... how much was it sold for?

QUOTE(FollowMeRogerThat @ May 16 2022, 10:02 PM) Went to Sony shop got told to try using 2.4 as they may not be stable with 5.0ghz. My first thought, why I need to choose lower band but ok la if need to be.. don't mind if no DC issue. But but.. their chip so ciplak? Most TV are using mediatek SoC. I have hisense 65A7400 and 65X90J Android tv. Both also had some sort of 5Ghz wifi issue. The most common is when left overnight on standby, wifi most likely don't work the next day. A simple restart by press hold the power button on remote would solved it.

QUOTE(SamD @ Jun 11 2022, 07:06 AM) TBM (Tan Boon Ming) offers a better deal I think. I bought 55" X90J last week with Sony official 5 years warranty and free 1 month Netflix card for RM4,550. The X90K compare to X90J not much difference other than these features 1. AUDIO POWER OUTPUT (10W + 10W + 5W + 5W on the X90K) vs (10W + 10W on the X90J) 2. X90K has BRAVIA CAM option and Core, not on X90j. Deal with Derek (branch manager) at their Old Klang road HQ/main branch. Good luck. Not bad but I think Lazada was cheaper couple of months ago. It was going for 3.4k++ and I think extra 3 years only cost extra few hundreds. Enjoy the tv... Desahome offering 55a80j for 5.8k last month on 5.5 (IIRC). Would have gone for OLED if I didnt already bought my 65x90j last year 12.12.
