QUOTE(jazzy939 @ Sep 3 2007, 12:41 PM) Yes. I think so too. Oh well, there goes my DIY project. And for my other 18v requirements, I'll just link 3x6v SLA batteries in series together. Simple old fashioned solution. Looks like I'll only be able to meet up with you and MadZiZ when we get the iBasso D1, eh? |

Sometimes 'simple old fashioned' solution is the easiest way to go...
Oh ya.. the iBasso... according to yuheng, it may be coming next week! I can't hardly wait! QUOTE(March05 @ Sep 3 2007, 05:31 PM) Oh well, there goes my DIY project. I made calls to my close friend, also an audio/electronic nut, and guess what, he has a few units of.... 12VDC to 18VDC voltage converter! Assembled, ready to go! He made this for some of his projects. Size: Imagine a 16 sticks of Gudang Garam cigarette box... 1/2 that size It's gonna cost u! PM me for price... I dare not listen to that PK1 for too long.. like I said earlier... poisonous stuffs! Hope to see u again.. Glad to help you out with your project. hey, don't mention it. i should be thanking u anyway. btw, i've changed the whole circuit and atlast get the desired output. alhamdulillah.
later i upload the pspice simulation. actually i just play around with the resistor at base. and it seems like the resistors at emitter plays no role at all. i wonder why? it suppose to equate as a Thevenin equivalant but nothing seems to differ when i plug in/plug it out from the board. neways , nice knowing ya. i'm going to jalan pasar today. getting transformer and maybe if i'm free this weekend, we can meetup for the voltage regulator tutors (sila tunjuk ajar). |

Hey I am glad that your project did worked out for you. Like I said earlier.. the initial circuit can further be reconfigured for better/optimum space/components position.. what I did that night was really 'rough'
The base resistor actually controls the 'trigger' base voltage.. still I could not understand why the emitter resistor, R8,kan? Plays no role there.. it's the 'load' for that Q2 transistor. I want to have a look at the circuit again.. may be I missed out something... sudah 'karat' la lama tak buat macam nie.. Surething! Would love to meet up with u and the others (MadZiZ only) for more 'discussion'.. Enjoy your JP shopping! Definitely sounded better than last night after a 5 hours burn in period.. Took it to the office for further burn in.. should be in position to 'perform ' tonite! anyway luckily my lab instructor didnt check the VBE or base voltage. coz it's roughly around 0.58V for first stage and 0.705V for second stage amplification. LOL. one is low the other is too high. i still not satisfied of why i get like dat. if only i can buy myself a function generator , oscilloscope and a dual voltage DC source. sheeesh alakazaaammmm...KAPOOF, may money grow on trees!!!!

I m baffled too la. We have to look at it again.
Actually you can build a function generator (DIY).. oscilloscope, there is a freeware program that used your soundcard for input.. dual voltage DC source.. well this one also can DIY mah! PS.. Tell me where this money tree is growing k... Yes.. exam is above everything. Make sure you work hard, make that very very hard to pass your exam k. Good luck and all the best!
I have to go home and check. I'll email you the s/ware. Its not that huge. Be good! For the voltage converter IC, i found a replacement for MAXIM chip at Jln Pasar the code is ICL7660 if not mistaken. The drawback of the IC is the output current is low.

Its a pretty good voltage inverter or doubler. Yup, like you said, the current handling is kind of low.. infact too low ler... thanx for the input! You have any interesting projects to share?
