My family is planning to upgrade to a 32" LCD TV.

What I am interested is the Sony D series since it has what I needed:
100Hz refresh rate
HD 1366X768

I heard it has a built-in HDTV tuner too, is it true?

I have also found out Sony has a 50" Projection TV for less than RM4000, http://www.sonystyle.com.my/product/produc...ubcategoryid=31 anyone has experience in that?

Do recommend other 32" LCD TV with those features I mentioned above with a price not more than RM3500.

Thank you

By all means, avoid projection tv as the lamp life is way too short; abt 6-8K hours. Not forgetting that it costs over a grand to replace it.

For less than RM3.5K, there are many LCD TV that fit your budget.

For 32" w 100Hz motionflow in the market now, which one of you guys think is the better one:

Sharp A53M
Sony D300
Philip PFL9432

Any other models that I've missed? Checked out the D300 at sony centre, it seems the S-Force FRT SURR is quite good compared to the A53M model. Any feedback?

But come to think of it on the other hand, for the price we're paying for the additional features / slight boost of PQ, its not much diff unless we purchase original DVDs / HD / Blu-Ray, with good HDMI cable to see its full potential.

I think most people will have or eventually buy a HT system, so sound system in the TV not very important.

And i'm still not sure if 100Hz makes any difference. You can get a 50Hz 37" LCD at sub 4K price.

But one thing i notice, some how, the Sharp seems to able to squeeze more picture into the screen (just take note of the edges) compared to most models....dunno why.

I'm a user of Toshiba 37A3500E, I'm using GC XFX 7600GT for my pc. My LCD tv can display to resolution of 1360 x 760. I'm using VGA cable to view it. So far very satisfy with my LCD.

Astro? not worth it buy LCD just to watch Astro
Astro quality is not HDTV, it's satelite TV
the quality is bad
for watching DVD, playing games, LCD is recommended thumbup.gif

Dun buy from toshiba
toshiba quality is so-so laaaa

If wanna buy LCD, 1st choice, of course SONY
then go for SHARP & Samsung
after that LG, PANASONIC etc tec

Sammy and SONY has a joint-venture factory to share the LCD panels. The only difference i believe is the so called "engine"...DNIE, Bravia etc...

I thought SHARP is also a panel maker (in fact, SONY's 1st batch PSP used Sharps LCD...later changed to some other cheap LCD to cut cost, from what i heard).

I wonder who does TOSH gets their panel from...i think their METABRAIN PRO engine is superior to SONY's and Samsung's going by the test above...

What is Sharp's engine name ah? Don't think i heard of any terms...

Can you please confirm that you are connected directly from your computer VGA to VGA input on Toshiba TV? Not DVI/HDMI converter using HDMI input on TV, but directly from PC VGA out to VGA in TV? Also can you confirm that your 7600GT is set at 1360x768 resolution (VGA) and your TV (VGA/RGB) is also set at 1360x768 resolution?

I have been asking Toshiba users for feedback before but no one has responded. I even called up Toshiba technical people, but no one there even knows for sure.

The reason I want to know is because the specs for the old A3000E model shows only the following resolution through VGA :-

1) VGA 640x480 (60/75hz)
2) SVGA 800x600 (60/75hz)
3) XGA 1024x768 (60/70/75hz)
4) S-XGA 1280x1024 (60hz) - Compressed

The A3500 model also shows the following specs (refer to local Toshiba website -http://www.toshiba.com.my/servlet/svtUProductPage?func=spec&proID=7528037000 )

RGB
-----
1) VGA: 640 X 480 / 60Hz - YES
2) SVGA: 800 X 600 / 60Hz - YES
3) XGA: 1024 X 768 / 60Hz - YES
4) S-XGA: 1280 X 1024 / 60Hz - YES (Compressed)
5) W-XGA: 1360 X 768 (60Hz) - N/A
6) W-XGA: 1052 X 768 (60/70/75Hz) - N/A

So from their technical specs above it doesn't show that their TV support 1360x768 resolution through VGA.

I would appreciate if you can confirm that the specs above are wrong.
