Bro @convict, Motion Flow technology and 100Hz ... they are actually related to frame rate (correct me if I am wrong) ... the faster frame rate the clearer picture ... so 100Hz means 100 frame per second compare to conventional TV 50 or 60 frame per second ... another thing is that response time ... conventional TV response time is 8ms ... some TV in the market has less than 8ms ...
so Sony KLV-46W300A Motion Flow technology = ??Hz ... I heard some people said is 100Hz ... and Sony KLV-46W300A response time is 8ms ... Samsung LCD LA46F81BX is 100Hz and response time is 6ms ... here is the useful reading ... Motion blur is a fuzzy concept This is often referred to as a "smoothing" feature (eliminates motion blur when viewing fast moving images, resulting in silky smooth pictures), and companies have come up with different marketing-friendly names for it. Sony calls it Motion Flow, Samsung's is Motion Plus, Sharp's is TrueD, and Toshiba's is Film Stabilization, and some work better than others. Even some plasmas, such as the Pioneer, offer this type of smoothing feature, though people didn't think it was implemented as well in Plasma as in the LCDs. anyway, stick to your Sony KLV-46W300A, you won't regret it ... go get it now ... ps: buying new LCD or Plasma TV ... now also need to know the meaning of 1080p24 and 1080p60 |

Yello!
i was also torn between those two... but in the end i bought Sony 32D300A because for Sony, a lot of things can be manually configured (e.g the 100Hz can be set to Off, Standard or High, and you change the backlight settings..where as for Panasonic the 100Hz is permanently on and you cannot change the backlight).. But of course, if you're the kind who just wanna watch tv/dvd as it is then you dont need all these configurations control la.. Also for Sony, you can have different configurations for different input .. i.e different settings for DVD, PS3, Astro etc.. Another reason i bought Sony is that after discounts, the sony ended up being RM100 cheaper than the Panasonic.. cheers Darth Maut QUOTE(lapaq @ Feb 16 2008, 07:22 PM) Was at the shop today and saw the Panasonic Viera TX-32LX700MK...The PQ is very nice IMHO.... How does the above compare to SONY 32D300A? I'm now torn between the two...Price is about the same...only 200-300 diff (sony more exp of course)....but I'm leaning towards SONY because the below reason... 1) D300a accept 1080p signal. > I know both are not a 1080p panel 2) D300a uses 10-bit panel 3) D300a output in 24p mode for BD Movie 4) D300a have 3 HDMI input (great for my PS3 and XBOX ..then have another one extra What makes me think twice is the 100hz implementation by Panny is very good compared to SONY...What Hifi magazine give both TV a 5 star rating but I haven't read the full review.. So l need you guys, the great gurus on this thread...pls help me here...my money will be here by end of feb and hopefully I can enjoy my TV by that time... Oh and my main use of the TV will be ranked from most usage (1) to less usage (4) as oer below..... 1) PS3/XBOX games 2) Blu-ray Movies 3) Movies from PS (anime and other downloadable movies) 4) Astro (not very mportant as I'll be using my 29" CRT tv for this mostly...) Thank you in advance... |

QUOTE(convict @ Feb 29 2008, 11:13 AM) hi to all sifu, over priced and less feature! Sony LCDs come from the same LCD factory as Samsung. As Philips with LGs. Just need to clarify something. Im kind of pretty sure of getting this Sony KLV-46W300A 46inch FULL HD LCD TV. The only thing that holding me back was it didnt have this 100htz feature....they call it Motion Flow technology. I wonder if is really make a lot of different on thePQ. Only 2 model has this feature, the X(f ullHD, way too expensive.) and the D(HD ready only) series. help? try getting sharp or toshiba or panasonic instead of the overpriced Sony. you see plenty of Sony LCD ads everywhere right? How do you think the pay for the advertising cost? they charge more for the LCD TVs lah. |

QUOTE(g5sim @ Feb 29 2008, 03:27 PM) over priced and less feature! Sony LCDs come from the same LCD factory as Samsung. As Philips with LGs. Sony is clearly higher priced than some of the others, but do note that same LCD factory and even same EXACT PANEL does not mean that results are the same. try getting sharp or toshiba or panasonic instead of the overpriced Sony. you see plenty of Sony LCD ads everywhere right? How do you think the pay for the advertising cost? they charge more for the LCD TVs lah. The electronics that drive the panel do make a difference. Having said that - I'm not here to claim Sony electronics better - just pointing out that same panel does not mean everything will be the same. In terms of 100hz/120hz - It's something that you have to do some detailed viewing to see if you notice (which most likely you will!! haha) - but of course - it is ANOTHER feature to consider and not the be all and end all. If motion smearing/resolution is a problem to you - plasma is the way to go. If not - go for the LCD. W series looks very tempting actually - but don't forget to check out the Sharp 100hz 1080p screens. Should be in that price range as well. |

har? no le... last year was rumour only, i dont think it is merged since they also not comfirm yet, so far the sharp will produce the lcd panel for pioneer and sony, pioneer no longer will produce 42" plasma while will getting some oem for plasma panels from panasonic or other plasma manuf's... while sony and sharp have signed the joint venture for the lcd production (merging gua), pionner dunno what agreement they are still on yet, if these three are really merging, then it will gonna be pioneer + sharp + sony....
like u said, mampus to some certain brands especially samsung as they lost the deal with sony, no more sony lcd from samsung panel on next year onward while byebye to 42" kuro plasma QUOTE EXCLUSIVE: Pioneer Electronics will officially announce on March 7th that they have cut a deal with Sharp and will start selling Pioneer branded LCD TVs by the end of the year. Among the LCD TV models to be rolled out will be a 42" panel which will replace the Pioneer 42" plasma panel that the company announced this week would be discontinued. The move is also good news for Sharp who are also set to manufacture Bravia LCD TVs for Sony. The announcement is set to be made in Japan on March 7th to coincide with the company's 4th quarter 2008 financial results which are not expected to be good. Under the new arrangement Pioneer will sell a range of LCD TVs up to and including 50". They will also sell a 50" and 60" plasma and next year an 80" plasma TV which insiders say will be manufactured by Panasonic. This post has been edited by jasjas: Mar 3 2008, 07:13 AM |
