Finally, DBS's 1 month Eurodollar deposit yields a positive risk premium over US 1 month T-bill.

https://www.dbs.com.sg/personal/rates-onlin...d-deposits.page

1 month USD uninsured deposit at DBS yields 4.39% p.a. (link above).

Using 30/360 day count convention in US T-bill market, converting 4.17% p.a. discount rate* to bond equivalent yield (i.e. comparable to DBS FD convention) will result in 4.18%, thus approximately a 20 bp counterparty risk spread has emerged between DBS USD FD and US 1M T-bill.

*4.17% p.a. discount rate quoted from CNBC: https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/bond/...?countrycode=bx

The risk spread has widened even further. DBS now quoting 4.52% p.a. for 1 month over 1M US T-bill's 3.9x % p.a. About 60bp spread.

UOB and OCBC USD 1 month rates are around 4.2-4.28% p.a. respectively.

Btw, CIMB SG allows Malaysian to have FD too (I think), but other banks.... Seems like not
*
If you mean Malaysians in general, then no, I can place an FD in DBS for example. Maybank SG allows Malaysians to place FD too.

In general, if saving account is opened, then FD should also be fine. Not aware of any exceptions for SG banks.

I only have CIMB SG to test it myself, that's why I could only confirm for this sweat.gif

Ah, you mean open without pass. Ok ok.

Without pass, choice is indeed limited, only aware of CIMB SG and Maybank SG, same situation as opening a bank account in SG.

HK overnight HIBOR spiked to 4.81% p.a. yesterday, a 16-year high. HKD liquidity tightening.

Small-medium banks all upped their short-term FD rates.

Even virtual banks followed suit. PAOB 3-month FD rate raised to 3.7%, upped 50 basis points. Welab's rate upped 110 basis points to 3.6% p.a.

FIVE PERCENT?? Damn, how to sign up as Malaysian? 🤤

lol those promo FDs are meant for new users/fresh funds only. The starting amount isn't small either. 10k-30k USD in some cases.

You will need a HK address and HK identity card to open an account at most HK banks. For banks which require online account opening, their apps may not be available at other jurisdictions like Malaysia (i.e., you need to connect to HK VPN of fly to HK and connect to Internet there for the app to be shown on your phone's app store).
