if you want vista, you will have to fork out a much higher end system. Things like minimum 1gb ram, large HDD, directx10 support and so on.

With macosx, system like celeron D with 512mb RAM is already good enough.

BTW, updated my project log here.

It's such a fun project. At last mac on PC!!!!

I've installed and it looks great - a few problems though.

The following are not working.

Broadcom BCM5789 on board ethernet is not recognized
Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB
82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio

I'll work on getting the nvidia/titan drivers fixed if i can move past the network and usb problems. any help is appreciated!

I love the way it looks, seems very fast.

I'm writing this from OSX86!! I found the ktext for my ethernet, now onto sound and usb.

titan installer worked great btw, used Natit_1.0.pkg.zip - running at max resolution my monitor supports at 85 Hz.

New Intel/AMD kernel

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=32827

Current Feature List:

CPU autodetection
Kernel detect now if you run AMD or INTEL and will select proper code for each manufactor. No need for diffrent kernels anymore.

VMWare support
VMware autodetection feature included. Very relayable on any cpu AMD/INTEL.

FULL AMD support with GUI
The new kernel provides everything needed to run a full featured OSx86 on a AMD SSE3 compatible processor. To run GUI you need to get the rufus patched bins, they include special opcode for a function in kernel which enables the AMD support in them.

Settings autodetection
Autodetects your setting like FSB and CPU speed.

Advanced Math
Uses a more advanced math technique to determain CPU speed up to ~1Hz accurate.

Multiple Core Problems fixed
Some machine crashed because of wrong detection of cores available, this issue has been fixed.

Video/Audio Problem solved
We solved a minor issue with general playback on AMD/Intel.

The clock is runing "in time"
The clock is running very accurate now.

Serveral additional bugfixes
Some bugs from original Apple source were fixed, not even Apple is perfect.

hope you enjoy it! And there is still space for improvements. construction.gif

SSE2 is in production, please don't ask for a eta, this is not like munching magic cookies. sorcerer.gif

Just make it simple for you. Firstly, you do need dvd-rom/writer to read and burn mac osx iso. Then, get the latest iso, 10.4.8 with sse2 patch, cos' your processor is SSE2. Boot the dvd and install, similar like winxp installation. And remember to go customize install, tick only the component you need to install for your machine. If everything is fine, it should be able to boot after the installation.

If you get stuck at the (/) apple logo, restart your pc and press "F8" before booting to the apple logo to get the console screen. Type "-v -f " without the quote, and press "enter". Right now, you need to edit the NV40 kext (.plist) in order to let mac recognize your gc. After editing, remember to repair permission. Check the insanelymac forum under tutorials(the genius bar), i forgotten those codes to repair the files.

Basically that's it. You might encounter some driver problem, like network card driver, sound driver and so on. Check the forum for more helps or details XD Btw, anyone can feel free to correct my rough guide thumbup.gif Merry Xmas, Hackintosh cool2.gif

iso = a dvd/cd image file.

normally we use a real cd/dvd to install an OS, but this this we're dealing with image file. wic u have to burn on to a dvd to use it.

dualboot : erm.. try read here -> http://www.mytechforum.net/forum/index.php?topic=90.0
(me myself prefers GRUB 2.0) these software are normally called bootloader or boot manager. (still study 1st before u make a move)

VMware is a software used to emulate another PC in a PC. or.. virtual PC. with a hardware high-end enough, u CAN run the Mac OS VMware image. smile.gif [it's NOT a booloader]

"edit:i only found os x86 10.4.8 upgrade, can i use this? " <-- erm not sure... mind refer it to the source at which your downloading? (there is too much distro anyway (for me) to keep track to) if is = just an update .. i do think you must have a previously OSx86 or OS X installed. (not sure also.. refer to your file source is better. tongue.gif )
all these = IMHO. btw mods, nice (VERY NICE) thread.. biggrin.gif

After you type -v -f, it still won't boot to desktop? You might want go to single mode by typing -x

Either you type "-x" or "-s", i kinda forget which one is single mode or console mode. doh.gif doh.gif If you cant even load into single mode, i guess you can try boot into console mode before you re-install hackintosh. biggrin.gif Remember, you need know some basic command in the console mode.
