Intel GPU is the saviour? brows.gif

*
As I said, Intel Arc issue isnt hardware but software which needs a lot of optimisation & maturity. Game developers also not yet optimise theirs for Arc ecosystem unlike native support for NVIDIA & AMD. Both teams need only minor driver tweaks with 1st Day patches for games to run fine while Intel needs weeks to get a proper game driver out after launch.

Game development take 2-3 years to do so lets see in 1-2 year time when games also natively build up for Arc along RTX & AMD and if Intel driver maturity means can be quick to release 1st Day hotfixes, if Arc wants to stand on par with green & red.

Thats provided Intel still wants to do GPU business now that both pushers Raja & Pat is gone.

After reading reviews, my summarised take. Its a generational jump improvement similar to 20series -> 30series.

It beat A770 easily with that GPU being a tier higher. It did very well against current gens, but I think its still not enuff to beat 5060/8600 when they willl come out later. It still has a price advantage over them as I suppose Nvidia & AMD will price theirs from $300 (vs $250 for B580).

The 12GB VRAM is a good push for decent size in budget segment but I doubt both Nvidia/AMD will tweak their upcoming gen budget GPUS to counter, as GPU specs would have been baked in months before launch. Both are likely to stick with 8GB VRAM unless they finally realised its not enuff anymore for xx60/x600 class tier.

EDIT: Locally here, knowing that distros/dealers likes to price hardware according to their performance level rather than follow global market pricing, I am gonna expect B580 will be priced here closer to 4060/5060 local launch MSRP or maybe slightly higher rather than a RM 230 ($50) price gap difference.

is there any game that make a big difference from 6c to 8c (P cores)?

Its not so much a difference than a requirement for even medium setting in games nowadays

Thanks for clarified, so will grab a i5 14400 jump from 3rd gen i7 3770k , 12 years old never change my pc  innocent.gif
Still using my old GTX 1660S 6GB wait for next pay day only upgrade RTX 4060
*
Imho try wait for 5060 out and see what deals you can get. 1660S to 4060 isnt a too big jump that you might expect. To keep within same tier, try to get 4060TI 16GB instead.

Saw the reviews and benchmarks for B580, really tempting on the performance.

With that I need some advise. As I am near 40, i have been playing more indies and racing games like EA wrc rally. I am also looking forward to monster hunter wilds as well.

Is this sufficient enough for my current 1080p 144hz monitor ? And if I upgrade to QHD monitor is it enough as well ?

Thanks.

For indie games, stick to nvidia/amd. Most developers havent really optimise for Intel arc so performance may be sketchy or take ages for driver support.

Everyone kept avoiding Intel and hoping that developer would support Intel soon... LOL...

Your logic work that way?
*
Really?

So poorer 3rd World budget gamers who would prolly had to plonk in months of income for their shiny new GPU just to find out they made a bad choice with Intel when the games they wanted to play either is unsupported at Day 1, or buggy as hell and they have no way to return it for refund or exchange without massive $$ loss unlike those in the West, and now their stuck with a GPU that will take weeks or even months (heck even never for obscure indie games as mentioned) to be properly supported, ruing their decision to take the risks with a brand new player and contemplating whether to start saving money... again,.. to buy another budget GPU from more established brands, and never will listen to lowyaters cuz advice given was not with their money?

I guess its up to OP to decide which logic works better for them huh?

Look, if you know the value of RM, budget gamers arent in a position where its easy to buy a 2nd GPU or return for full refund. So until Intel up their software support & drivers game massively, I will still reco Nvidia/AMD to budget gamers for hassle free Day 1 ready gaming. If you have the money to try out, sure go ahead. But budget gamers rarely do have that backup.

Intel's latest microcode update fails to fix Arrow Lake performance issues.

The troubled Core CPUs are now even worse in gaming than they were before.

Update causes a significant performance drop in Cyberpunk 2077, reducing frame rates by approximately 20 percent.

MCM tech isnt easy to get right at first iteration, looking at Ryzen 1000series and Radeon 7000series. Software can only go so much to correct inherent hardware design mistakes. Wait for at least Core 300 or even 400 generation for Intel to get right.

Bad news for Arc, and as expected... its the software stack

For older & new lower end budget builders (ironically the segment that B580 is targeting) its advisable to wait until Intel gets it right. But it may never happen too (Nvidia never resolve their driver higher overhead issues but it was never this bad either).

Lets see how the fanbois try to deny this rclxms.gif

*
Imho RH1 & RM1 looks much more appealing & RM1 would be a much better cooler to keep it on if only the outer fins were made of metal like RH1.

RH2 & RM2 looks more like OEM solutions that you find in business PCs. Its design has regress backward despite its slightly lower noise.

I read Intel price cut certain processors. Does it affect the price for such processor in Malaysia?

https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-drops-cor...w-starts-at-284
*
Either will come much later or distros makan the margin gap and maintain prices with excuses of tariffs, RM getting shittier, USD getting stronker, petrol subsidy removal, egg subsidy removal, blah blah blah... (pick whichever they want to use).

TLDR; dont put your buying decision on expectation it will come.

I am for intel at first. My current pc lasted years under intel with no issue so was hoping intel would wise up with their price and give a competitive value processor. Looks like I have to go to amd for the next few years.
*
Dont have experience with AMD CPU but seems like its no longer as bad as it was before. Then again AMD CPU platform also no longer the value oriented as before and now even more expensive than Intel coz distros/dealers know its the hot thing today.
Still if you want hassle free and more stable system, Intel is tops but if your okay with lesser stability and frequent agesa bios updates just for ultimate gaming perf, then its AMD.

Depends which pros & cons you can live with.

if got intel that can compete with 7500f for performance and price i might consider but will also factor in motherboard socket long term support. i can resell cpu for path to upgrade but motherboard will be difficult.
*
12400F + MSI B760M Mortar Wifi DDR5. Have plenty of future forward features like DDR5, Gen5 GPU slot, and 3x Gen4 M2 SSD, wifi 6E on E-key slot so can upgrade to WIfi7. LGA1700 platform still can future upgrade to 14700K next time.

Also future AM5 support is not guaranteed like what happen to AM3+/AM4 until people make noise.

I like the 124000f but worry path to upgrade is 13/14 proc with degradation/oxidation issue and also 14700k consume a lot of power. Don't care about wifi 7 because i use cable all the time. Didn't amd say will promise support for am5 for much longer? Am4 start 2017 last until now and lga 1700 consider end.
*
Upgrade path is til 14th Gen which is still plenty powerful. Apa lagi mau? Normal users wont need up to 16 Pcores CPU wat. Degradation thing is still ongoing deswai I chose with 12400F, this no such issue. Wait it out until Intel finally fixes it. There are manual ways to prevent it too. AM5 CPUS are also dying so its not just an Intel thing.

AMD talk about longevity of Ryzen platform too but early gen AM4 mobos originally were deprecated from Ryzen 5000 CPU upgrades until people start making noise about AMD janji dicapati where they backtrack and found ways to support newer gen CPUS. So trust all these future longevity talk with jars of salt. No one can predict the future much less Lisa Su.

Imho Intel LGA1700 has flexibility to go either expensive (Ksku & Z790) or budget level (nonK & B760 DDR4) whereas AM5 is exclusive expensive anyhow. LGA1700 might have ended (unless Bartlett Lake?) but CPU tech has progress so much that even few gens old wont feel it lagging. So choice is depends what your budget and what you want to do with it. No wrong or right.

I'm using 13700k + Deepcool AIO

https://www.deepcool.com/products/Cooling/c...022/15564.shtml

The AIO radiator is side mount and blow air to outside. I naked casing make no diff
*
Its an old AIO, designed for CPUS predating LGA1700, yes despite it having the proper mounting kit after, it was meant for up to Rocketlake CPUS meaning only max up to 125W TDP. Your 13700K max to 253W so its overloading your AIO. Time to move onto a newer 360/280 AIO.

How can i know which AIO is suitable for my 250w 1700 socket CPU? the AIO just mention 360 and pump speed and it support intel 1700 socket so i just bought it.

btw the AIO is 2022 year and my 13700k is 2022 CPU also,
*
Some AIOS will state what its TDP capacity, but mostly those newer releases post 2023 are designed for 12/13/14 Gen 253W CPUS. Deepcool latests are LS/LT series...

Just bcoz you bought your AIO in 2022 doesnt mean it was designed in 2022. Here is a LTT post about your cooler in Jan 2021
https://linustechtips.com/topic/1297873-gam...2-any-thoughts/

Alderlakes only came out in Nov 2021. It was prolly sold cheap as it was clearing stock of those that could not support newer CPU max TDP.

the Core 5 120 and Core 5 120F.
both chips are nearly identical to the Core i5-12400 and i5-12400F launched in early 2022.
use the LGA1700 socket, compatible with 12th to 14th Gen motherboards.

Respinning of 12400. I am still waiting for mythical Bartlettlake for last hurrah of LGA1700

Too bad Intel fans have been conditioned to think; "more power, more FPS!" so when Intel pull back both, fans cannot accept their losing to AM5.
