targon

see adl content.
linus ddr5 quite straight forward. linus adl straight forward.
even with his ad segway. the info delivered, video length.

GN dumbo...again with that talk down dialogue with clickbait negative poster on videos. misleading info with very bias to his sample size of 1. hint go try fo find a 10600k that does 5.2.. or his rtx 3080 shootout.. which he favors the card with highest oc and attributes that to the brand...

negative posters that contradict video content works

just try making a video justin bieber gay? with poster of him with question mark but in video content just talking something totally diff will get u ALOT of hits

hardwarecanucks content now garbage also.

hardwarecanucks i love the reviews for headsets, only because he's a true headphone audiophile so i can know which headset is good for music (but my corsair hs70 is worse in music compared to good headphones but way way better for fps game positioning lol)

Another interesting read:

https://www.techspot.com/review/2381-intel-...otherboard-vrm/

VRM on entry level z690 boards. Sadly giga last on the list. So another use for them as door stoppers, eh. Some truth to that.
note: tested at ambient 21 C. but our tropical climate..........

still really good for 12700k and 12600k which makes more sense.

New price/performance champ. Core i5-12400.
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-core-i5-12400-review

Now where is B660/H670? You can pretend H610 doesn't exist.
*
no e cores, does it mean no problems using it in windows 10?
but this is the first time i5 k series and non k has big difference, 4 e cores.

can that do bclk overclocking?

hopefully intel won't force bios update on future motherboards to disable this since the K cpu is already have advantage over non K with the extra 2 E cores

does the B660 motherboard have the BIOS option to turn off E cores on i7 12700/12700F? So only left with 8 P cores for less problem in windows 10

Z690 time worse, late 2021 COVID still around and while that time I'm not onboard yet, IIRC the MOQ was very high.

Even now we still have stocks of Z690 ATX boards around.

For Z790 (and AMD B / X boards) the MOQ different already.

I'm even thinking of conducting group-buy.

Hahaha I guess its a different Malaysia that I knew... one that is complaining about how RM is shit, imported stuff (ie PC parts) are super expensive, inflation, and general unhappiness.

That specs above woulda cost RM 10,000 - 15,000 so its not ur typical Malaysian affordable level unlike in US or EU where is a lot more common.

But anyhow, if urs is not for incoming earning purposes or mining then kudos that you could comfortably afford for it. As for me, I'm gonna build a much more modest PC this 11.11 sale.  smile.gif

i would buy if it is 10-15k, seems more like rm20,000+

Thanks. I did undervolt to 0.080V. Now temperature is much pleasant compared with the first one i posted. I guess I will just stay as it is, as I don't think I will get this kind of temperature during gaming. More or less is during the video compressing.

Initially I was thinking of getting AIO cooler, but I seriously want to have a hassle-less setup without so much of worrying in the future. That's why I still prefer air cooler. But then, it seems like nowadays, air cooler is slowly cannot catch up the amount of heat that the new CPU dissipate. '

Anyway, thanks everyone for the help. Next thing I will OC my DDR5 ram and hopefully can play around 7900xtx OC next week.  Cheers!

what type of video compressing is that? Why didn't use intel quicksync for the encoding, unless you're doing AV1 encodes?

Good that you did some digging but nobody's blaming air cooler.

I had to go for midtower casing to fit certain requirements and the shop didn't have any other better air-coolers so no choice. Just didn't realize that the 13700k was such a hot beast compared to my old trusty 4790k. Would have gone for 13600k if I knew that.

Nowadays I'm way past tinkering and tweaking my rig. Just happy to game without dismantling anything. Hence the lazy-man methods.  biggrin.gif

Anyway, I am happy with current setup of putting the rig in power saving mode. Don't need much cpu power for normal gaming.

Maybe if I'm up to it, next time change casing and get a better cooler.
*
iinm if you're using z690/790 motherboard you can set tdp limit on the cpu, maybe you can set like 200watts max or any that you like. Though why not consider dual tower coolers, like mine fits no issue on my small atx casing, a 280watt tdp cooler

if 13600k/kf not planning to overclock, is a good b660 motherboard enough for it to run at stock specs? is there any limit for b660 ddr5 speeds

You will need to get it bios flashed if not updated to 13th gen but otherwise that 13600K has same max TDP as PL2 unlocked 12700 so a MSI Pro B660M-A or Asrock B660M PG riptide will do PL2 unlocked based on 12700 reviews (when paired with a capable cooler & airy case).

Then again if ur not going to be OCing, perhaps a 12700K with extra 2 P cores will last longer than that 13600K with only extra 4 E cores.
*
i like the 13th gen because the raptor lake cores has way more L2 cache for both the P & E cores compared to alder lake, usually faster performance & cheaper for the 13600k/kf
but i guess i'll wait till newer stock price that follows the new rm4.4 per 1 usd, else just cont use my old pc saja haha

12th gen have Intel's Thread Director that is optimized for Windows 11 Task Scheduler. It's not optimized for Windows 10, that causes it to assign task to incorrect cores. After some time later I think MS and Intel have fix it for Windows 10.

it works fine for windows 10 now? I had been holding on to old 8700k because lazy to move to windows 11...

Yeah, I might do that. Disabling 4 out of 8 ecores didn't help. Wanted to keep some ecores to do background tasks.

Finally managed to troubleshoot one of my unsettling problem. The rig sounded like a jet taking off when the cpu was at load. A high-pitch sound that I was not happy with. After investigating, it turned out that the fan behind the air-cooler was the culprit. Apparently, the back cpu fan emitted a high-pitch sound when attached to the cooler but the sound disappears as soon as I move the fan a bit out. Switching front fan to back also didn't help. No idea why there is this high-pitched sound for fans at the back of this SE-225 XT cooler.

Anyway, I was so frustrated that I took my old 12cm fan, remove the centre fan and used the frame as a "frame buffer". Drilled a lot of holes in many places to keep the weight down too. Then with the original fan clips, clipped the frame to the cooler and used cable ties to tie back the CPU fan.

As below.

[attachmentid=11396598]

Now even at full fan speed, the fans sound is much much MUCH softer at 100% even when the CPU is running hot at 70-80'c. No more air asia taking off every few minutes while gaming! biggrin.gif

At least one problem solved.  rclxm9.gif

if your casing can support air cooler height that uses 140mm fans, should really consider switching to it, something like deepcool ak620 or as500. The SE225 probably has no issue finding buyers. I'm using deepcool assassin III, it uses 2 140mm fans but I only install one fan in the center of the dual tower, and set it to around 900-1000rpm. No need for max fan speed and the cooling wasn't compromised much, and most importantly it's quiet.

Just need to remember the AK620 some people complained about resonance when running the two fans, either install just one fan and adjust the fan speed of both separately. But i had to say the AS500 is not expensive and still good cooling performance too
