I just go budget i5 just to play around for my ITX rig. Its no big deal.

Z690 time worse, late 2021 COVID still around and while that time I'm not onboard yet, IIRC the MOQ was very high.

Even now we still have stocks of Z690 ATX boards around.

For Z790 (and AMD B / X boards) the MOQ different already.

I'm even thinking of conducting group-buy.

Hahaha I guess its a different Malaysia that I knew... one that is complaining about how RM is shit, imported stuff (ie PC parts) are super expensive, inflation, and general unhappiness.

That specs above woulda cost RM 10,000 - 15,000 so its not ur typical Malaysian affordable level unlike in US or EU where is a lot more common.

But anyhow, if urs is not for incoming earning purposes or mining then kudos that you could comfortably afford for it. As for me, I'm gonna build a much more modest PC this 11.11 sale. 

Thanks. I did undervolt to 0.080V. Now temperature is much pleasant compared with the first one i posted. I guess I will just stay as it is, as I don't think I will get this kind of temperature during gaming. More or less is during the video compressing.

Initially I was thinking of getting AIO cooler, but I seriously want to have a hassle-less setup without so much of worrying in the future. That's why I still prefer air cooler. But then, it seems like nowadays, air cooler is slowly cannot catch up the amount of heat that the new CPU dissipate. '

Good that you did some digging but nobody's blaming air cooler.

I had to go for midtower casing to fit certain requirements and the shop didn't have any other better air-coolers so no choice. Just didn't realize that the 13700k was such a hot beast compared to my old trusty 4790k. Would have gone for 13600k if I knew that.

Nowadays I'm way past tinkering and tweaking my rig. Just happy to game without dismantling anything. Hence the lazy-man methods. 

Anyway, I am happy with current setup of putting the rig in power saving mode. Don't need much cpu power for normal gaming.

Maybe if I'm up to it, next time change casing and get a better cooler.

You will need to get it bios flashed if not updated to 13th gen but otherwise that 13600K has same max TDP as PL2 unlocked 12700 so a MSI Pro B660M-A or Asrock B660M PG riptide will do PL2 unlocked based on 12700 reviews (when paired with a capable cooler & airy case).

Then again if ur not going to be OCing, perhaps a 12700K with extra 2 P cores will last longer than that 13600K with only extra 4 E cores.

12th gen have Intel's Thread Director that is optimized for Windows 11 Task Scheduler. It's not optimized for Windows 10, that causes it to assign task to incorrect cores. After some time later I think MS and Intel have fix it for Windows 10.

Yeah, I might do that. Disabling 4 out of 8 ecores didn't help. Wanted to keep some ecores to do background tasks.

Finally managed to troubleshoot one of my unsettling problem. The rig sounded like a jet taking off when the cpu was at load. A high-pitch sound that I was not happy with. After investigating, it turned out that the fan behind the air-cooler was the culprit. Apparently, the back cpu fan emitted a high-pitch sound when attached to the cooler but the sound disappears as soon as I move the fan a bit out. Switching front fan to back also didn't help. No idea why there is this high-pitched sound for fans at the back of this SE-225 XT cooler.

Anyway, I was so frustrated that I took my old 12cm fan, remove the centre fan and used the frame as a "frame buffer". Drilled a lot of holes in many places to keep the weight down too. Then with the original fan clips, clipped the frame to the cooler and used cable ties to tie back the CPU fan.

Now even at full fan speed, the fans sound is much much MUCH softer at 100% even when the CPU is running hot at 70-80'c. No more air asia taking off every few minutes while gaming!

At least one problem solved.
