it's true, on cpu, motherboard, not sure haha. But plenty of laptops running intel cpus is running at super high temps, servers too

it applies to AMD as well lolol. but not a cooler I would use, passive might be a bad idea.

I would trust intel more, plenty of intel cpus running super hot on intel macbooks and never really heard macbooks died from cpu failure, mostly from corroded connectors etc

CPU failure due to heat is rare for both AMD and Intel as they have built in protection mechanism that prevents this to happen (this is why CPUs throttle when overheating) tongue.gif

On the other hand however things like excessive voltage can really kill a CPU sweat.gif

Bonchi haha there was ryzen 3600 that died from sudden spike in temp right?

That being said though, CPU failures do exist, so that's why we have warranties and RMAs icon_idea.gif

Yeap, which actually makes cpu productivity kinda moot sometimes. But you gotta know, ryzen also runs really hot under normal circumstances including gaming, not really according to their tdp rating. Like my 3600 had a bug that boost to 4ghz all core when playing music on foobar running at 80-90C. It degraded in just 3-4 months because i didnt notice it was constantly running that hot and started to random bsod. Their high 40-50C idle isnt really helping their lifespan either.

At least for intel, it only becomes hot when you power on prime95 or cinebench... especially the 10900K, i noticed it actually runs cooler than 10700K during gaming load because of the core count so it boosts lower while still getting higher fps. Intel have a much more solid and reliable boosting algorithm.

I paid rm600 for my used 10600K leh laugh.gif
Running nicely sa/io 1.3/1.3V at 4266c17-17-17-37 1.45V right now... already passed an accumulation of 1000% brows.gif

Idle and gaming perfectly below 60C at stock with a 120mm aio. Looping R20 it goes to 80C, just about the same temp as my ryzen 3600 last time.. maybe the intel is lower. But OC different story... i can run games at 5ghz all core and r20 become 95C sweat.gif prime95 straight thermal crash.
*
even the 10400 at 4Ghz is faster than the ryzen 3600 when both had the same ram, now can easily run 4.7/4.8Ghz 10600k with good temp

Im actually matching or beating those online gaming benchmark of 5600X with 3600mhz ram with my current setup. Actually I noticed from online benchmarks 5000x series ryzen dont seem to scale that well with higher FCLK unlike that of the 3000 series.. maybe it's due to the new cache layout that made 3200mhz to 4000mhz seems like only less than 5% improvement. And I noticed that with GPU bound games such as most AAA titles, my 10600K easily pulls ahead... to compare with my previous Ryzen 3600 on COD cold war for example really is night and day. Used to average around 90-100fps at max 1080p settings on the 3080.. with current 10600K it is over 120fps... which is funny because this should be a gpu bottleneck situation.

will be even better on rocket lake, better min fps and 1%, alder lake would be interesting

does rocket lake have AI cores that can be used to run AI softwares like video2x and rife? Just curious.

Looks like Z690 belongs to Asus for now. Got LGA115x/LGA1200 cooler compatibility.

problem for alder lake ddr5 is the motherboard price i guess, 1500+ for cheapest ddr5 board, it makes 12600k kinda pointless. At least 12700k makes some sense.

Need to see 12600k with cheap ddr4 performance

150watt 12600k is probably still fine with this but do it with fans blowing on the vrm heatsinks lol

saw some 5 game bench ddr4 vs ddr5 12600k, seems current gen games have both results quite similar now, although 3600CL16 vs 5200CL34 iinm

but it means 12600k can go with cheap ddr4 boards for gaming, makes much more sense than putting 12600k on expensive ddr5 boards and ram (when should have used 12700k instead)

What's the highest speed ram that you have tried? I plan to buy ddr4-3600 on Z170 but many people said it will not work with just loading XMP profile. Even 3200 is luck. 3000 is doable.
*
honestly what ddr4 speed you are using now?

z170 kinda old and limited to 4 cores. Better to save money because even budget 6 core 10400 or 11400 already wat better even with slower ram

Valorant got the Vanguard anti-cheat running at lowest driver level. I suspek it doesn't play nice with E-cores atm.
*
but do people play at that high fps haha

i capped mine at 140fps for the gsync. or disable the ecores

They juz wanna test CPU max potential  bruce.gif

Funny you mentioned this. Some reviewers didn't test Alder Lake at 720p, saying anyone who upgrades PC won't play at this resolution.

So many ppl rage at them, replying that 1080p won't show CPU full potential.
*
haha should test at 720p because it is not real world use but to compare cpu performance
