it applies to AMD as well lolol. but not a cooler I would use, passive might be a bad idea.

CPU failure due to heat is rare for both AMD and Intel as they have built in protection mechanism that prevents this to happen (this is why CPUs throttle when overheating)

On the other hand however things like excessive voltage can really kill a CPU

Yeap, which actually makes cpu productivity kinda moot sometimes. But you gotta know, ryzen also runs really hot under normal circumstances including gaming, not really according to their tdp rating. Like my 3600 had a bug that boost to 4ghz all core when playing music on foobar running at 80-90C. It degraded in just 3-4 months because i didnt notice it was constantly running that hot and started to random bsod. Their high 40-50C idle isnt really helping their lifespan either.

At least for intel, it only becomes hot when you power on prime95 or cinebench... especially the 10900K, i noticed it actually runs cooler than 10700K during gaming load because of the core count so it boosts lower while still getting higher fps. Intel have a much more solid and reliable boosting algorithm.

Idle and gaming perfectly below 60C at stock with a 120mm aio. Looping R20 it goes to 80C, just about the same temp as my ryzen 3600 last time.. maybe the intel is lower. But OC different story... i can run games at 5ghz all core and r20 become 95C prime95 straight thermal crash.

Im actually matching or beating those online gaming benchmark of 5600X with 3600mhz ram with my current setup. Actually I noticed from online benchmarks 5000x series ryzen dont seem to scale that well with higher FCLK unlike that of the 3000 series.. maybe it's due to the new cache layout that made 3200mhz to 4000mhz seems like only less than 5% improvement. And I noticed that with GPU bound games such as most AAA titles, my 10600K easily pulls ahead... to compare with my previous Ryzen 3600 on COD cold war for example really is night and day. Used to average around 90-100fps at max 1080p settings on the 3080.. with current 10600K it is over 120fps... which is funny because this should be a gpu bottleneck situation.

Looks like Z690 belongs to Asus for now. Got LGA115x/LGA1200 cooler compatibility.

What's the highest speed ram that you have tried? I plan to buy ddr4-3600 on Z170 but many people said it will not work with just loading XMP profile. Even 3200 is luck. 3000 is doable.

Valorant got the Vanguard anti-cheat running at lowest driver level. I suspek it doesn't play nice with E-cores atm.

Funny you mentioned this. Some reviewers didn't test Alder Lake at 720p, saying anyone who upgrades PC won't play at this resolution.

So many ppl rage at them, replying that 1080p won't show CPU full potential.
