The screen protector is more expensive than you think. For the S10+ model, the cost of making it is $5.70 USD. Yes, it is only the cost of making it, not the final selling price. I guess its material works well with ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and it has an oleophobic layer which makes its price higher.

this is why I previously asked, why people take off this original SP and go for others and having headache with fingerprint scanner. I find the original SP perfectly useable.

This is so confusing.

Some say it does not come with a SP, some say it does,

some say it's just a wrapping plastic which you need to peel it off.

There's two layers of plastic film. A tpu screen protector that is good enough to use for long term; and a wrapping plastic on top of the tpu screen protector.

after peeling off it does feel high quality, i agree with that

but its still plastic in the end and its still scratchable

best to install a tempered glass for those who needs a piece of mind.

at the end of the day no matter how much you feel it works great for the ultrasonic sensor, its still plastic film and easily scratchable.

some tips:

1. for those who installed a full glue tempered glass, reset your fingerprint, start all over. it will read better
- it works better after that as the sensor will now read the accurate fingerprints through the glue on top of it.
- for those fortunate enough to deal with sakurazzz, you will know why he had to press the sensor there a bit. making the tempered glass to have a minor bump if seen from an angle.
- i guess those who DIY will probably not press the sensor area and let it dry as is. hence reducing the sensor capability.
- i've let sakurazzz installed my note10+, s21u.. no issues with sensor.

2. wash your thumb, clean it a bit, and wipe it dry while being a little damp, then set up your fingerprint
- no need to use soap, as it will only dry your finger's skin faster (especially if its dettol)
- by doing this i noticed it works well when both thumb is either dry or wet. however, when the finger is very very dry, then it doesnt work most of the time.
- one thing about ultrasonic is that it doesnt work well with dry fingers.

3. try to set up based on how you imagine you will hold your phone most of the time, the angle, how your thumb or finger will be
- instead of just setting it based on one angle.

this works for me, so im just sharing flex.gif

Sadly it's hard to find a tempered glass for S21, big brand such as Spigen, Ringke etc only make film type protector.

Spigen recently released their uv tempered glass for the S21U. Seems quite pricey though.

I think is due to the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, it won't work with typical tempered glass.
