Hello. Anybody here know which platform is best used for a Malaysian to invest in the US Stock Market?
I tried opening Fidelity, but then realized they only open for US Residents (Haha).
Opened up an EToro and Webull account but havent really updated my personal profile nor made a deposit yet because I got cold feet.
Right now, I'm just really tempted to buy at least 1 GME share to see where it goes. Maybe a few AMC on the side.
Can anyone help a newbie out?
Also, what are the Tax repercussions to us if say the GME shares actually reach $1,000 or $69,420 per share? It is my understanding that a 30% Withholding Tax will be deducted from our overall sell of the shares. Do we still have to pay Income Tax for this gain?
Go to Etoro Thread for the most of the answers. Alternatively, follow DividendMagic on insta or FB. He has useful information/video guide on eTORO.
Etoro doesnt have AMC.
Withholding Tax only applies to Dividend payout. While we malaysian(non-US citizens) are not subjected to capital gain tax. While i have not withdrawn from etoro before, this is the part where i am curious about. I guess if the withdrawal amount is not large enough to trigger a red flag from your account home branch, it will be fine. Your bank, by law need to monitor for any suspicious activity. How much is large? i dont know. More than RM100,000 perhaps?
