Also, they have 2 diff sets of 5 str. One is with the low B str and the other with high C str. |

QUOTE(qarlkross @ Feb 26 2009, 04:56 PM) Yes.. 1) Wind them up and boil them on high heat for 5 - 7 minutes(boiling water). Take them out and let it cool off. 2) Then unwind your strings and have a clean cloth. Hit the strings against the cloth and you'll see the trap water comes out. 3) Then take another cloth and wipe each string by holding the cloth with the strings tight and then, pull the string. After pulling the string, you will see dirt on the cloth. Do as many times as you need till you see no dirt marks on the cloth. Do the same to the rest of the strings. Before you proceed, make sure you buy a simple cheap cooking aluminium pot cost Rm 6-8 (picture below) and also a unused pair of wood chopsticks(Those mamak stall chopsticks). You dont wanna use the house cooking ware to boil those strings because after boiling those strings, it leaves dirt marks on the pot. What bass are you using again ? An Ibanez SR series ? Nice shirt hahaha . What did you use to record your process ?
The song is too low ... Hard to hear whether you sync with the song or not . But your fingers and frettings are good . Just the song is too fast for you still . A bit out when you go for the fast fretting part ( IMO ) OVerall is good =D This post has been edited by Thalmes: Feb 26 2009, 09:08 PM |

A bit out when you go for the fast fretting part ( IMO ) OVerall is good =D mine's an ibanez GSRX300 (dont bother looking through the website.. i cant find it on the official site) probably cuz it's a china made version... i recorded with my digital camera, a fujifilm f100, and the songs are played through my desktop speaker system + bass practice amp... recorded through the camera's mic... QUOTE(PVCpipe @ Feb 26 2009, 08:16 PM) QUOTE(ptewee @ Feb 26 2009, 08:41 PM) Sadly, it does not get rid of rust. Basically, we are reusing them and after you boiled them, it does sound like new strings and maybe last for a duration or 1 month or longer depending on how much you play. |

davidgary, is dipping the entire string into methylated spirit a better idea than boiling? Gets rid of most dead skin, daki, and all those gross stuffs.
Anyone here tried before? |

QUOTE(Zax_imtiyaz @ Feb 27 2009, 08:22 AM) Thanx Flat position on amps and on the bass, i have my EQ's set flat and start adjusting the sound i am looking for and i go from there. Hey, just wanna ask, how you set your EQ on your bass n amps? Or you just left them in the flat position? I use EQ on the amps only when it's a bad amp and also using Sansamp DI Bass pedal to help. For Ampeg, Hartke, Eden amps, no problems with flat EQ's. I have seen lot's of V shape bass EQ's and some pretty extreme EQ's where you have only the bass boost on the amp to the max. So what do you hear? Muddy notes and sloppy sounds. For example: Boost a huge amount of 50Hz to 250Hz on the amp. You have lot's of bass frequencies but your notes are not clear and not define. This is just my observation. As for Victor Wootens EQ, it's flat on his Ampeg amp. Cheers This post has been edited by davidgary73: Feb 27 2009, 10:44 AM |

well its hard to cut thru the mix with a V or a smiley. for me i do the
especially with cardiac necropsy, 2 heavily scooped guitard, i got lost in the mix all the time. so a reverse smiley on my eq pedals works well for the mid growl |

QUOTE(ptewee @ Feb 27 2009, 01:57 PM) Get your fretting hand more solid and accurate first . Go to this link << Watch the last video that someone post it up about someone giving a cover . See his fretting hand .And guys , Do you think I should get a hardcase for my bass ? As I'll be bringing to school ... Everyone in the school bring hardcase to protect their guitar from being bang or anything . I notice that if bring soft case / bag ... Once you bang people or something , Might hurt your guitar . It's around $150 for a hardcase . Do you think I should go for it ? School is a place where a lot of people will move around and will bang you if too crowded if you get what I mean . |
