QUOTE(crazychris @ Feb 8 2009, 01:47 AM) did u hang ur bass too low... did u use too much strength and strain ur fingers... is ur bass setup at very high action? i play sitting down most of the time... still not use to standing up playing, so i guess the hanging part doesnt apply... as for the action, i didnt touch it since i brought it back from the shop... any good guides to tuning this? QUOTE(Bassix @ Feb 8 2009, 04:13 AM) which joint is the pain at 1st 2nd or 3rd (1st being the knuckle)? 2nd and 3rd... it also hurts when i pinch those joints with my other hand...

QUOTE(PVCpipe @ Feb 13 2009, 09:21 PM) do they sell the thing that hold the string in the place, between headstock n fret board.... how much? i suppose that's what u call a 'nut' btw guys, anyone has this problem, where whenever u play the A string (standard tuning), any fret or open string, the E string also rings? it's annoying me that i get this sound from the E string even though i dont touch it at all... QUOTE(Bassix @ Feb 14 2009, 04:57 PM) You need to learn to mute your strings. There are many ways to do this. In this case of open A open E, i use rest stroke so my plucking finger rests on the E string after plucking the A string to mute the E string. Of course there are other ways to do it as well. thanks for the tip, im still new to bass anyway... QUOTE(Thalmes @ Feb 15 2009, 12:38 PM) How long do you guys practice in one day ? i play at least an hour a day... since im also determined to get my hands/fingers used the playing...

yes, it plays the tabs... u can also set a speed trainer... like 0.5 speed or 0.75 speed then train slowly to play fast... it has a built in metronome too... but i personally dont own one (u can turn ur mobile phone into one with custom software) PS. im currently addicted to playing the pink panther theme This post has been edited by ptewee: Feb 15 2009, 09:33 PM

QUOTE(Thalmes @ Feb 26 2009, 09:01 PM) What bass are you using again ? An Ibanez SR series ? Nice shirt hahaha . What did you use to record your process ? The song is too low ... Hard to hear whether you sync with the song or not . But your fingers and frettings are good . Just the song is too fast for you still . A bit out when you go for the fast fretting part ( IMO ) OVerall is good =D yeah i admit it's a rather fast song... cant really play fast yet... mine's an ibanez GSRX300 (dont bother looking through the website.. i cant find it on the official site) probably cuz it's a china made version... i recorded with my digital camera, a fujifilm f100, and the songs are played through my desktop speaker system + bass practice amp... recorded through the camera's mic... QUOTE(PVCpipe @ Feb 26 2009, 09:22 PM) dude... i add invite u for friend... add me k ok, i saw it This post has been edited by ptewee: Feb 26 2009, 09:34 PM

QUOTE(Bassix @ Feb 27 2009, 07:38 AM) Be careful of your left wrist. It looks pretty bent. If you're comfy then it's ok, just a point to watch out for. You can tilt your bass more so your fretting hand doesn't have to bend so much. thank you for the note, i didnt realize it myself

thalmes: black strap, white bass, thus, silver locks just my 2 cents , cuz black locks wont be obvious with a black strap im still in dilemma on what string to choose for my bass... the shop didnt have just the E string, so i need to spend on a whole set... and their bass strings costs rm80 and above... if d'addario, there are cheaper ones on ebay (including shippiing) compared to over here, which are abt rm9x per set... anyone has any opinion on ernie ball strings? oh and... i suppose a plain strap is just enough... IMHO fancy ones sometimes dont worth the money (well unless one day i feel like spending) This post has been edited by ptewee: Mar 6 2009, 08:08 PM

QUOTE(Thalmes @ Mar 6 2009, 08:32 PM) My friend is using Ernie Ball , String wise , Produce warm and bassy sound and have a smooth texture and bright color. But the smoothness , You gotta play for quite some time to make it smooth . The first few times is very rough. i bought the cheapest set of strings in the third shop i went today... only rm35... the brand is Olympia, and the gauge is .45-.100... too bad it's steel (not nickel) it sounds bright and... steel-ish...
