I upgraded it on the 2nd day i got my 838pro...
side effects? easier to use than ever.. and better looking than the original...
I suggest you read the official dopod 838pro v2 page 100 onwards to start picking up on the stuff you missed...

upgrading depends on you, but its not really a big issue,
just "upgrade" it using the original WM6 rom, and send back for warranty.
just have to becareful cos any mistake can "brick" your phone...

In Low Yat can easily get CAPDASE leather case, few months ago i brought for RM60++, no idea for metal case, but since the phone quite heavy, is it good using metal case?

Something to ask here, i plan to get a dopod 838 pro but cant afford for a new set so i find for 2nd set.. I wanna ask if a screen scratch(not protected by screen protector) and if i wanna change i need change whole screen?

activesync take long time to complete sync
somtimes keypad will hang, dial/end call button not working, need to reset.

re-flash the rom twice,hard reset twice still same problem...
feel regret ...but can't flash back WM5 d...

now want to try others rom but scared of warranty issue la...

I notice my unit with .ryan. v3.57.2 starting to lag a little.
Graphics load sluggishly, scrolls slows down as well..
restarted but still the same.

After search for a long time.. i finally found 1 info quite useful. All the touch screen phone come with a thing called screen digitizer which located at the upper part of LCD. Is this mean if the screen scratch, we can juz change the digitizer?

anyone know if im flash with ryan's rom using hardspl, can i still falsh back to dopod official wm6 which is not using hardspl ? will it void warranty?

yes u can flash back to official rom...wiht hardspl or without also ok................hardspl wont void....only putting "outside" rom will void......

Which ROM did you flash? If you did not use the official ROM, you have to configure your internet connection manually Sames goes for MMS settings

Not sure you guys need this or not. I've always have problems connecting using Internet Sharing.

I've just found that to get it easily connected using this way:-
1) Do not plug in the USB cable
2) Start the Internet Sharing -> Connect
3) When it say checking for usb cable
4) Then only you plug in your USB cable

With this way it will get connected easier
