Welcome to the Club, you are not alone.
Me too feel the same way when i tested dt880... got compared it with k701, dt770 and dt990 too.
And gotten myself the dt880. LOL laugh.gif

But, new unit of dt880 sounds very harsh at 1st. Haha...
Require good source and a lot of head time (burning) for it to sound good.

You must feed it with Good Good Quality Musics for it to Sing, say No to Mp3.
Are you testing it with Tube Amp at Jaben??? If not, then you might want to give it a try.

yeah tested at Jaben, the tube amp you mean is Maverick A1?
I tested it with Maverick A1 there, and I think that's the best pairing I heard in the entire audition.

I'm still thinking about DT880 and HD650, DT880 sounds cleaner to my ears, but both unit were not really burn in yet.
And the HD650 I test seems under power, and I haven't test the pcwork special cable yet.
really having a dilemma now rclxub.gif

Source is a big trouble for me, as I will need to re-convert my cd 1 by 1..... that gonna take me at least a few good months to years to do so.
But at least it's just time rather than $$$ smile.gif

Most of my cds were 80s-90s alternative / rock music (Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, The Smashing Pumpkins, Luna Sea, X Japan.....)
Basically I listen to nearly all music except pop, hip-hop and rap.
And I left all my cds in Johor (currently working in KL).

Yeah both DT880 and HD650 is very different, but I do like both of them for some reason. rclxub.gif
I enjoy DT880 when paired with A1. Those details were really nice and I felt it's balance (at least to my ears).
HD650 is dark, and for certain music I prefer to have dark signature.

Currently I'm using ms1, which is pretty good with most of my music.
But I starts to feel I need more detail on my music, and a different sound signature to make it more fun.

haha, 32ohm should be much easier to drive compare with the 250 / 600 ohm.
I read in some reviews, it mention that higher ohm version of DT880 the sound is more natural.
Not sure how big the difference it is, but trust your own ears.
The most important is still how it sounds to you, not others smile.gif

Which amp below RM1000 would you guys recommend?
I have the E7 and I plan to get the E9 if that's enough to drive.

i did a bit of reading on dt880, and seems like nearly everyone prefer the 600ohm version blink.gif
of course given the fact that it can be drive properly
and some comments mention dt880 is a bit sharp on treble side ......
this really makes me feel like going back to jaben with my own cd to test it.

during my audition last week, dt990 is incredible sharp on treble side.
I could barely put it on for 30 seconds (no offence to dt990 owner biggrin.gif )

Yes, 600ohm ones sounds smoother and more amp-able.

As for DT990, if you can tolerate its treble, take a look at its bass extension and soundstage expansion.

hmm, maybe i really need to go over jaben one more time, but need to wait i bring up my own cd to kl first.
any particular amp you would recommend to drive the 600ohm?
what I've tested that day was dt880 250ohm + Maverick A1, and it sounds pretty good to my ears

Just got myself a DT880/250 and GoVibe Peak amp from another forumer here. Can anyone suggest what soundcard and/or DAC should I get to improve the mids further?

EDIT: Nevermind. tongue.gif

What would you guys recommend if i don't want the amp with the source coming from either an ipod or iphone? IS DT770 sufficient enough? or should i take a look at DT880 ?

Thanks in advance. smile.gif

I have an iPhone 4 and I know that it can drive the DT880 Pro (250ohms) to relatively loud volumes.
