Just got a new MacBook Pro. 1st day using. I am really impressed that a 90-min zoom session with video streaming from my side only consumed 5% battery. And best part of all, the computer stayed cool.

That is the power of M1. I can’t believe how powerful it is if Apple released M2 version in future.

Thinking of changing my 2016 Macbook Pro (the model before touch bar introduction).

Is it advisable to change now or better to wait for the new M2 processors?

If it isn't that urgent, with so many rumours swirling around for a new Macbook Pro, I think it would be worth a shot to wait for it.

Was thinking so too. Hopefully there’ll be some major design change.

Mine is before the touchbar models but even those look old and outdated now.

Yeah, the design hasn't really changed much over the years. The only hope that the new ones would have more ports and also a slightly newer design. But still with the current pandemic going on and supply chain being disrupted here and there, the wait might be longer.

I'm still using MBP Mid 2012... still going strong, I'm still editing video using FCP.
If no urgency i.e MacBook not break down, you can just wait... for better design sooner or later...
I don't know when.
The rumour always there for a newer model/design or whatsoever...
Once the new model come up, the next new model will be next year or 1.5 year... it will be always there..

i think the reason better to wait for now is because the new mbp rumoured to come in sept-oct, together with new iphone. that is just in 1 month time. imagine buying an existing model now & a month later new model comes out. biggrin.gif

But the 'New' design will stick for more than that 1.5 years.

The current design has been carried over since mid-2016. so, despite having major internal updates, the design is actually more than 4 years old.

Didn't know this. I did the same mistake in 2016. Bought the old design (2015 models) a few months before the 2016, touch bar design was introduced. doh.gif

Of course really looking forward for the new design...
See how will Apple make more out of M1 or the new processor...

We'll never know, as there was rumour also last June during WWDC...
We can consider from June to September, the new design should be released.
Time will tell, we just wait and see.

Heard that there will be one event in September 2021. If by then no announcement on Macbook and you need a laptop, then i think you can proceed to buy the laptop!

Without a doubt, a new 14" and 16" will be announced this year. But the pricing may not be to your liking.

With M1 chip shouldn't reach 10k for base model.

Else Apple really pricing it too far.
