QUOTE(vincent09 @ Aug 15 2007, 08:06 PM)
rm 99 is normal price, i get 1 initial d set already, quite nice.
But for my opinion, u better try 1 set just 1 car with 1 controller, I'm not sure is it that u like the function or not, because the control feel abit small and quite hard to control.
Bit char-g got 2 type 1 is control car 1 is like tamiya 4x4 mini 4wd( this 1 hard to find nowadays, lucky get few pack of that), but bit char-g need to charge your car after playing few minutes,

Qsteer no need charge, just use 4 xLR44 ( small and round ) play until no battery.
*
POison.. yesterday at midv lagi. see it RM99.00, toy R'US also Rm99.. no discount. haih.. Oklarr.. if u all say that is normal price, then i will take the plunge, after work today. brows.gif . I have a few AE86 cars of different sizes mar. so this 1 is more for collections.

The LR44 batt is inside both the remote and the car? How come I see the video, maybe another model, he charge by touching the car and the remote together for 45 seconds.. then can play 2 minutes?

QUOTE(vincent09 @ Aug 16 2007, 09:07 AM)
Yap, is only japanese handphone only, the official web there got a list about that. Else maybe u can try download that programe on your handphone and try, but i no idea how to do it tongue.gif
*
oh.. got program also? can give the link? I will try it la and see if it will work on our handphone. Eh.. sweat.gif wait.. if i get the initial d set, that means it doesn't have the feature to do this rite? hmm.. need to read more. I saw an LED on the remote, so I think this runs on infra red ( like TV controller). Thus if your handphone has IR, then hardware wise it is capable to do it already.

I have the Rx-7, ae86 and rx-8 choro-Q. The pull back and release type. I think my floor dirty.. so the rx-7 spins on the spot a few times before going straight wink.gif) hahaha..

icic. okok. thanks. now clear adi.

Hmm.. about the Handphone control, have to research more. Except from a jap page:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

If i can get the program code, then maybe can modify and use (probably java), and possibly, you can use an IR usb dongle on your PC and control via keyboard.

If only the finished program is available, then perhaps can't already.

oh... comic shop sell it also and still RM90 +. Now wonder if the cost is really that high for this unit? .Hummer.

I reluctantly paid the RM99.90 for the Initial D set at Jusco today. (also bought a gundam HG Rx-79 ground type)..

The 8 batteries are included. 2 for the remote and 2 on the car for 2 cars. Not bad la, the range is quite far. I tried around 5 meters away and it still responds.

Initially it could not move, but looked at the japanese guide and found a tiny little on off switch. The tiny lever at the front is to adjust the front wheel alignment i think?? haha.. cause my ae86 pulling to the right and I tried the lever and it helps to correct it somewhat.

From tech standpoint, this is quite amazing. RC without an aerial sticking out. tiny size. AB or CD band.

hahah.. now just need an oily surface and try to make these cars "drift"..

or make a tiny diodrama of the 5 hairpins..

Tomy! next come out the Levin + green silvia S13 lar.

So far I saw it in Jusco Midvalley and I bought mine from Jusco IOI. I haven't visited other's so I am not sure. Toy'z R US bangsar village , midv has this as well.

I Visited parkson OUG, and Metrojaya Midvalley and both don't have this.

My friend in HK says the initial D set, he can find it for HKD178.

anyone tried already?
if it's working we can just buy the one car only.... for only rm19.90..parkson... hehehe

Thanks for the find. I think this is just the program file, and not source code file tongue.gif. Maybe other java programmers here can lend a hand. notworthy.gif

I am more to c# and not java. so I think i will research more how to do it on .net.
.net IRDA thingy.

QUOTE(bozerman @ Aug 21 2007, 06:24 PM)
I kindna like the idea of this new TOMY Q-Steer, coz is not
so troublesome like Bit-Char G, have to charge every few minute of play. rclxms.gif

But to me, the Bit-Char car model design is way better than Q-Steer.
The Q-Steer look abit ugly & the remote control are damn too small.
(But very potable la...)

1 Utama Jaya Jusco also selling, but i can't recalled how much they selling price is.
I'm looking forward to buy 1 as well to add to my collection.
Beside Bit Char-G, i also have TOMY Aero in my collection.  tongue.gif
Now wit Q-steer i can run the car until no battery & than only change it.  thumbup.gif
How i wish my bit-char can be like that...  cry.gif
*
qsteer 1 set of car + remote =Rm39.90. Just car without remote Rm19.90. Choro pull back release car Rm12.90. Same for both ToyZrus or jusco. Yaya, I'm glad that Tomy included batteries with the cars. Even the Rm19.90 one has batteries.

I bought the Skyline S-tune and the 08 RX-8. Yesterday bought the choro Subaru GDB, after that I painted the subaru rear lights cause it's ugly with the rear lights the same body color blue. Resprayed the gold rims so that it won't looks so plasticky.

Now have 4 Qsteer and 3 choro pull back cars smile.gif) haha.

HEY!! I found this. It looks like the Qsteer design and electronics was done in HK.

Fast fast go.. Jusco Sunway.. 20% off all the Qsteer sets. Damn.. so those RM99 sets are now RM79.20 only. I couldn't resist, so I bought the red RX-8 for 20% off.

Then back home, i unplugged the back and cut off the front part to remove the body from the rx-8. I took a working LED and started to touch here and there tongue.gif ahha.. then it lighted up without any shortcircuits or burning smoke. icon_rolleyes.gif

It's quite easy.. as you look at both sides.. the metal plate from the battery compartment goes all the way up to the bottom of the circuit board. So just by looking at this, you can identify which point to solder on the top of the circuit board.

The LED will turn on when u turn on the switch at the bottom. I thought the LED will light up only when you move the car or turn the steering. Hmm, this surely will eat up the battery faster. Probably need to read more on how to solder it so that it will light up only when u press the controller.

Ok, done using the Red Rx-8. I soldered the LED to the car already. Was glad that the car can still move around after adding the LED. Had to cut off the round head of the LED and sandpaper the sides to reduce it's size to fit into the body.

Then I cut off a small portion from the transparent glue tube to help transfer the light to the front headlights. Can see I stuck it to the red car body just infront of the headlights using clear drying glue.

Next I plan to cut out the back lights and cover it with plastic transparency. Then cut strips of transparent glue tube to reroute the light to the back. Not sure how bright it will be though. The general idea is just to use 1 LED and route the light to the front and rear. Maybe my next 1 I will use 2 leds..

Yay! it works and still moves. (before resizing and positioning the LED)

After cutting, the LED is now square shape. Transparent pieces glued near the headlights.

I did it at 11.40 PM, finish 1 am something. hahaa.. I'm not going to go midnite hunt for led so I used the existing one's I had. But yes, I will buy the smaller one's for future use.

vincent09, to be honest I have not tried to do the swap but probably it's easy. For Qsteer, get a knife or light saber and cut the just behind the front bumper, then can lift up the front already. Then at the back there is 1 tiny latch just below the coin slot, so just lift the front and use your fingers to loosen the back. Only the front is glued. Still got to figure out how to stick it back though hmm.gif

Soldering on the left side, i added too much pateri and probably contacted something near. The car lighted up even with the switch turned off doh.gif hahah. stupid.

Haih.. need to find better camera than my phone 1. Then can see which contact points to solder. You guys got learn soldering in kemahiran hidup in form 3 rite???. Soldering should not be a problem for you guys to do 1 mar.

Dun be afraid to go out and experiment lor. gundam/car model building, I also use toothpick, nail polish, wires, jewelry beads, plastic plates /pla plate. (not for eating 1), plastic forks, .. try all sorts of stuff.

So I read in another place, the kwai lou's using ZIPZAP mini RC motor into the Qsteer. They claim it's faster, but need to modify to fit. Maybe you guys here can try to fit in different types of things onto that tiny car and snap some pics to put here icon_rolleyes.gif

Another thing, I found that the LED brightness increases when the NOS button is pressed. I think normal speed, there is a resistor that drops the power and hence the speed. When you press that Nitrous button, the resistance is less/more electric flows and the car runs at it's actual speed. So imho, the Nitrous button doesn't actually mean overclock or overspeed of the motor.

wish list:

- A replica of Akina DH or Akagi DH scaled to allow qsteer cars to run on it.
- Rims with hollow spokes
- PC IRDA control. So that we can program a set of movements to be sent to the car.

my talking kok here... sweat.gif ignore if you want :
Hmm... drifting the qsteer.. haha it seems like a natural thought when the AE86 is concerned. I think some things that apply to real drifting cars need to apply here as well. But real cars will have more brakes to the front than the back which makes it easier to lighten the rear. qsteer brakes are all at the back or ahemm.. NO BRAKES!! HHAHAHA.. just engine braking. Need to set up camber and toe.

Qsteer drift vs real drift car

1. Qsteer no brakes | real car have brakes and can adjust front back balance, can initiate drift with handbrake.

2. Qsetter have no camber/ toe adjustment (maybe can simulate this by cutting the tyres at an angle?) | real car can adjust these values to make it easier to drift.

3. Qsteer , we can change the weight distribution of the car with coins, sticking stuff on different points | real can also but harder to do.

4. Qsteer, we can change the grip of the front and back tyres | real car can as well including rim sizes and tyre types.

5. both can do feint.

So theory, walaue.. feel like keisuke in the white FC doing analysis
- we need to put alot more power to the rear wheels , wheel spins and loses traction
- Reduce the grip of the back wheels
- Careful weights distribution to the front.
- find some slippery surface to drift the qsteers.
- change camber/toe.
- tie string to front and let it force drift the car around a circle??? ??? ??

end of my tok kok.. shocking.gif
