ok after reading 80% of the discussion here, I am still skeptical. C716 65" is RM4199 like everyone mentioned, I heard many online reviewers say that HDR, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision have little to no effect at such low peak brightness and you have to nit pick to actually see the differences between HDR and DV content so i'm going to disregard those "features". That being said, would all of you still go for C716 or a Sony/LG/Samsung?(Mainly for the brand name reliability)

More specifically,
LG 70" UN7300 at RM3999 (300-350 nits+- brightness, IPS panel with Magic Remote)
Sony 65" X8000H at RM3800 (400-530 nits+- brightness, IPS panel with overall better picture quality than LG)
Samsung 65" TU8000/TU8500 at RM 3800(300 nits+- brightness, VA panel so better contrast ratio than both above)

Based on Rtings.com all 3 brand models above lose to the TCL series 5 but we can't definitively say C715/6 has the same picture quality as series 5.
So with HDR/10+ and Dolby Vision being disregarded (at least to me) would you guys still go for the TCL C715/6?
*
I bought my TV because of the price of QLED TV. At the time I bought C716 50in, RM2199. The cheapest QLED TV at the time. Furthermore, it's an Android TV.

I don't like Tizen and LG software as it restricted app installation.

So, if I have the money: I choose Sony 65" X8000H at RM3800 from your list because of the Android TV and brand. LG and Samsung I am not interested because of their software.

Did anybody successful enable Dolby Atmos on external soundbar with TCL-C716?
I have a Samsung HW-Q900T, so far I am only able to get 5.1 on Netflix app or Netflix (Kodi).
*
Currently, Netflix app on TCL C716 can't get Atmos. They said after upgrade to Android 11 (dunno when) then Netflix can enable Atmos on C716.
This apps I manage to get Dolby Atmos on TCL C716:

Prime Video: Jack Ryan
HBO Max: Godzilla vs Kong

I use new Chromecast with Google TV to get Atmos on Netflix.

So, in V625 you have Dolby audio icon in Astro?

Btw,
a few things from your post...
V631 is buggy and V634 is replacement.
You can anytime go back to V625 , all setting and apps remain.
Android 11 is targeted to Q4 2021.

Edit:

Go back to V625...
Dolby audio icon in Astro is back..... nod.gif  , done Reset shop and initial setting done by Google in my phone ,
so WiFi also working properly.
*
Sorry for late reply.

Yes, on V625 Dolby icon is visible.

Last year also TCL said that C71 will get Android TV 10 in December 2020. However, it's not coming to our TV.

So, I hope this time TCL really delivered Android TV 11 that they said for TV model 2020.

Go for TCL for Android TV. I don't like VIDAA unless you wanna hook up with Chromecast with Google TV.

Refer to history, someone mention this C716 netflix app not support ATMOS.

Netflix got many 4K movie?
Worth to subscribe 4k Netflix with this C716?
Many app require to subscribe with payment.
*
Currently on Android TV 9, Netflix on C716 is not produce ATMOS.

TCL mention that when updated to Android TV 11 in future, ATMOS will be enable. You can see new TCL TV C825.

Regarding 4K movies, there are many Netflix movies and series in 4K, HDR and Dolby Vision. Best of all, C716 support Dolby Vision which enhance the video image.

I have upgraded to 100Mbps Unifi last 2 weeks. Before this I am using 10Mbps Unifi Lite. So, these problems are not notice.

Here are the problems:
1) When I use my Ethernet Cable on C716, maximum speed is 20Mbps, average 18Mbps when test using speed test app and Netflix network test. I have not notice this when using Unifi Lite.
2) When using Wi-Fi on C716, I am able to achieve 100Mbps when test using speed test app and Netflix network test.

So, is it only my TV get this result or anyone also has this behavior?
Or is it one of bug/limitation in Android TV 9?

I am using this speed test for Android TV (post #99):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?....rma.netpulsetv

With LAN ,I can get arround 80Mbps (same with WiFi 2.4).
With WiFi 5 can get arround 160-170Mbps.
*
Have you use Netflix network test?

Settings -> Get Help -> Check Your Network

When I use Analiti speed test, Ethernet can get 60Mbps, Wi-Fi 5G 100Mbps. But only max 20Mbps when test using Netflix network test, or this Internet Speed Test-FiberTest for Android Smart TV

1Gbps.
Check you LAN cable also or reset router.
In TV setting check Proxy, IP setting and Internet connection.
My TV IP is 192.168.0.150 (IPv6 is on).
*
I have check my 15 meter Cat7 LAN Cable with my PC, no problem to get 100Mbps up, 50Mbps down.

I also has set my IP as your method.

Solved I guess; when I use DHCP instead of Static IP, the results is far better.

New TCL TV have Android TV 11 out of the box. However, 2020 TCL TV is expected to get Android TV 11 beginning middle of this year.

The lack of support for Dolby Atmos on C716 Android TV 9 is a bit let down. The TV is capable, but the app (Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV) make restriction.

Because Prime Video can produce Dolby Atmos for Jack Ryan.

Hi All,
Finally got my ASTRO-DISNEY+ ID activated yesterday evening, app felt bit more lag compare to Netflix, more buffering time as well.

I tried to play a 4K HDR or Dolby Vision movie, can't get the HDR/DB Vision icon pop up on the top left corner (like Netflix), did any sifu got the same issue like mine, and how to fix??

Best regards,

Happy owner of 65C716  cool2.gif

Last 2 weeks I noticed that my previous problem about the LCD screen has occurred again. I WhatsApp TCL Service informed about the problem. I told them about the previous repair and now the screen problem occurred again.

Since now MCO, their worker can't go around attend customer support. However, this week the technician come and collect the TV for repair.

Today got the TV again. To my surprise they replace my tv with new unit. Since they can't figure out how the LCD problem happened again, they replace it with new unit.

Thanks.. Got my TV yesterday. Will use chromecast with google TV later for watching fully atmos audio..

So far this TV is excellent TV.. I can watching my Netflix, hotstar,Disney+, Plex and also direct streaming from my NAS.
Quality picture also excellent. Enjoy watching HDR video.

As of now, Prime Video app can deliver ATMOS from our TV to ATMOS sound bar/HT.

Yesterday I watch The Tomorrow War, it delivered ATMOS to my sound bar. Jack Ryan is another title that deliver Dolby Atmos right from our TV to sound bar/HT.

If you have Prime Video subscription, you can test it yourself.

If you are using Plex, https://forums.plex.tv/t/workaround-no-dts-...-tv-9/724288/12
