For external sound you should use HDMI (ARC) ,Digital Audio Out (OPTICAL) socket or Bluetooth. But, TCL is one of the favorite TV brands in the US maybe because it is cheaper and maybe because of its famous Roku TVs. Nevertheless, I just rely on reviews which can be biased. But so far, it has some positive reviews. Need to understand there is also a possible grade quality for the different regions? Nevertheless, not everything is perfect... for example, it has no support for Apple TV/AirPlay2/HomeKit (except for the Roku TVs)... may need to use the Air Screen app available on the Google Play Store to have this support.
