any feedbacks from 805's user reporting audio delays or unsynchronizing with video? heard from an AV guys pointed out to me,make me undecided of purchasing 805...

If lazy to DIY (like me),buy a laptop 7.5" single fan(low noise) cost < 50, solved    ( if really lazy and dun wan to spend any $$$,leave it as it is,not an issue also,brother aiman04 did explaint that b4)

Just to share,last night my hand gatal a bit so i finally tried to calibrate all the spks with the provided microphone,Audyssey MultiEQ XT thingy. B4 this i set all the spks manually,including the spk distance,level,EQ for each spk......know what, I SHOULD HAVE START USING THE AUDYSSEY FROM THE 1ST DAY I BOUGHT THE 876 !!!      

After completed,i try out stereo music.....the different is so clear,improve at least by 20-30% of the original set up ( dun worry,this might only apply to me which cause by my lousy hearing during 1st set up    ).The different i can hear is :

1) very well balance from front LR,the focus now is more "solid",the seperation between vocal and instruments are clear,which make the singer like "come out" and imagine u can "see" the face/mouth of the singer ( hehe,this is what some audiphile's kaki oways said,i just "borrow" their cakap )

2) The DynamicEQ is enable now. The Dynamic EQ only enable after calibration done by the Audyssey mic.This EQ setting is much more better then my previous EQ setting for each 7 channel.I can easily hear more umphhhh even at lower volume. ( u can review this with ur previous EQ setting and Dynamic EQ cos the previous EQ preset still there)

From the spk review after auto set up,i found it change my previous spk's config,distance and also level.
1)For spk config,the main changes is the surr and surr back which change to 150HZ and 100Hz(my previous setting is 100Hz and 80Hz).Also,it change my sub to THX .
2)For spk distance,it change the front LR to 11ft and 9.5ft ( my previous setting was 13 ft each ),sub to 17 ft ( prefious was 14 ft)
3)For spk level,it change almost all spks level to "-" (negative),which my previous were all "+".
*** For those who still not using the Audyssey thingy to auto set up ur spks,i strongly suggest u should give it a try,who knows u will get a big suprise like me.If u really dun like it,no harm,u can oways goes back to the orignal setting.

..but can 876 set the spk to large/small? and all crossover should set to 80Hz as well? set the sub level to +5db,not too loud kah?

My 876 must be fake china make one,cant adjust the spk size to small/big but only cross over level for each spk.

augustinesoh,thanks for the link.Non of my spk is THX certified    so i just follow the auto spk set up cos i quite like the sound,esp compare to my previous "manual" set up without the DynamicEQ.I retry again with Audyssey last night up to 6th position but i found i still prefer my previous auto set up with only 3 postion ( 213 ).

been stuck at ur stage back few months when i 1st saw this combo at Seng Q when i 1st see it. i almost bough it, but then i chat with a few of my frenz who are into HT, they brought me to his frenz house to check out since he is selling high end HT, and now, i have changed my shopping list. this is what i m getting on june when my new house is ready :

so my advise is head to a professional shop, listen to their setup, and then decide on your budget. coz at the beginning, i was thinking, well, that RM5k combo would do just fine for me, but then when u seen and listen to better ones, u would just feel so lucky that u didn't bought that at 1st. Maybe its just me being greedy, and my opinion. hope it helps. thanks.

oh, just one last info maybe for beginner, if budget allow, try to pick a receiver (or what we call amp) with I/P conversion or up scaling. (this one i only realise when i audit my frenz demo unit). it basically convert and upscale ur normal pirated or downloaded movie to HD quality of about 70%. It took me quite some time to distinguish the difference on this.

oh ok then. haha... but astro video output is rather bad, and there is no way to do I/P conversion for it since i think got only component cable (1 yellow cable).

anyway, decision is up to how much u willing to spend. thanks.

my front spk respone only 38-200Hz but i want some bass from LR cos most of the time in stereo CD listening mode i didnt switch on the sub.Also,only in FullBand i can set the "Double Bass" on.Anyway,i will try to change my center to 60Hz later.

Btw,lastnite re-watch Ice Age BDs....wow,so nice the colour.Aslo the bass very geng,esp when the ice start to crack,the story still very interesting even after watched few times on DVDs,the little animal looks so funny

Hi,just bought an RS SPL meter.Need some advice on calibrating my HT system from all the HT master here.First ,what volume level should i set on the master volume knob(i usually listen at -25 or -30)?Second the speakers level trim,should i set it to odb?Really appreciate all the advice>

Was in Desa last weekend and got the onkyo 606 plus the jamo 606, combo sale. today is the 3rd day enjoying every bit...maybe because my prv set was a complete all in one...the sound fm this is a blessing.

yesterday found out, in the av, there is a fan kah? when the fan starts, its quite loud(did not switch on the air con yesterday, only the ceiling fan. does anyone face this sound. the volume watching movie, i have turn up to 45 and the sound fm the fan is noticeable.

just want to ask before i bring this issue to Desa. Thanks,

ur fan is it blowing into the amp or blowing away?

didn't know it has an internal fan. you must be running it very hot.

btw, where's the fan located? did you know that you can check the temp?

Cool...thanks for the info. I will get 120mm fan this weekend. Usually still quiet when run at 12v or can mark down to 5v if too noisy. My marantz running quite hot but not elite enuf to have built-in fan like onky

Ahem...am no tech savy here but i know of the fan which run on 12V noisy. Please confirm am reading it correct. I go buy 2 inch notebook fan, maybe modified into casing but am totally clueless on 3.6V power, means do you get the adapter(the one can change voltage at the charger) and hook up both fan wire?

Movies was fantastic or basically playing DVD but CD music...ahem maybe if got space to get 2 bookshelf speaker(for music one) to add in.

Horny, I copied ur DIY using a h/p charger and after 3 months it nearly fried my AVR!

The set-up tripped while I was watching a movie & after much tinkering around much to my relief only the charger & surge protector were got fried. (mind u everything is connected to my AVR) Now lookin fr a safer alternative... don't wan another heartattack. There is a usb port in the av and its written in the manual that its 12v, wonder whether it will be usable to power a usb fan

Bout the fan in d onkyo.... heard bout it but never seen it in action. Sometime watch 5 hours of Astro upscaled via AVR oso fan never activate. Is it only available in certain models?

how does 3.6v charger look like. i am seeing using handphone charger!!! did not take notice but if handphone charger is 3.6v, means the tip hv to cut off and split the wire to the 6" notebook fan?

our house dimmer(some used for fan speed control), will it work with 6"notebook fan hook up to the dimmer and dimmer using the normal outage?

sorry to ask silly question as tonight plan to go summit subang(low yatt too far) and get whatever to power up the fan tonight. tmw kids come back, difficult to do any diy.
