Hi guys. With the new T&C to spend MYR3000 and above to get full cashback on Affin DUO Visa, may I know if the cashback will offset the outstanding balance or the following month's expenses (if any)?

And for new card user, how does one entitle for full cashback in the first month?
*
1) of course! rm3000 balance is for WHOLE statement balance, not just transactions. that means, advance payments, cashback, reversals/refunds, BTs, etc would affect the statement balance.

2) maximize the card feature lor. what was the real reason(s) you applied Duo?

browsing thru the forum but still could not really figure how the affin cards work.
take reference as the "cardmember c" if spent rm1k can get back cb rm30, but what is the previous statement balance rm3k related to it? hmm.gif  hmm.gif
and for "cardmember b" if spent RM3K how come only can get RM50 cb instead of RM90? hmm.gif  hmm.gif

just curious any diff in affin card the way it cb method compare to MBB FCB or Amex card..in the case of MBB, is quite straight forward.
*
your PREVIOUS STATEMENT BALANCE === determine your FUTURE cashback capping/tier (RM50 or RM80)

so, if your previous statement <RM3k, no matter how much you spend, you only get max RM50 cb.

if your previous statement RM3k+, you "unlocked" your cb capping to RM80

I understand this now.

Just another concern here, assuming that: Previous month I did spend RM3,080 to "unlock" RM80 CB following month, but the next month I spent less than RM3,080. So do I still eligible for RM80?
Another question is about the effective 3% cashback rate. I read this article from RinggitPlus, author wrote: When you spend up to RM1,667 in a month, only can get the 3% cashback rate, does this still hold true?

https://ringgitplus.com/en/blog/cash-back-c...k-revision.html
*
because of the revision, you only choose 3% cb rate or cb capping (rm50/rm80), but not both

1) if target 3% cb rate, eligible spending would be rm1667. always get rm50 cb. no need to worry hitting min rm3080.

2) if target rm80 cb, then gotta hit min rm3080 spending each month. of course rm1667 on eligible txn + other spending to make up min rm3080 spending. by doing this, effective rate sure lower than 3%.

i don't understand why is still someone keep on asking the RM3k previous statement over here.

this issue had been well discussed months ago.

and the discussion recently is mostly the same as before repeating the same thing.

i suppose there is a search function in this thread.

just search "previous statement" and everything will be there
*
laugh.gif

what to do ...

1) some dont read forum, only come here asking questions when noticed didnt get expected cb
2) some dont use search, maybe dont know or lazy. posting question expecting direct answer.
3) some dont check their statement. didnt notice their cb already reduced if they maintained previous spending behavior
4) silent users now resurface after cb impacted --- related to 1+2+3 above sweat.gif

but if it dont require otp, i suppose they dont send otp sms as well
*
OTP SMS is sent by your bank (card issuer)

if the site (merchant) did not setup (obviously on purpose to do fraud) to initiate OTP challenge to cardholder, your bank doesnt do anything really (if that merchant not blacklisted or flagged)

this is why many frauds came from overseas.

Malaysian merchants/acquiring banks must challenge OTP so that liaibility is shifted to you/cardholder/issuing bank.

Malaysia issuing banks very very careful to allow merchants to skip OTP as the risk is very high and merchant/acquiring banks would bear all the risks (i.e. they cannot shift the liability aka blame the cardholder)

then it gives me a relief knowing that my phone is not on mirror access or fradulent apps that read SMS. This hacker does not know I already reach credit card limit coz it keeps on trying to swipe after I block my card.
*
your card number is just a 16 digit number

they just tikam all possible numbers --> see which one hits (charged) --> which one didnt file dispute --> profit

so you mean as long as I dispute it, the bank can reverse the charge?
*
yes

if the txn not posted into your card account, that fraud txn will be flagged by the issuing bank (affin). dispute time is shorter since the money not yet transferred to the fraud merchant/acquiring bank. affin/issuing bank stopped the fraud txn on its track.

if the txn already posted into your card account, you still file report to issuing bank but the dispute process will go through chargeback process. reason because the fraud merchant already gotten the money after debited from your card. affin need to claim back > scheme (visa/mastercard) > merchant/acquiring bank.

usually we can win the chargeback challenge because fraud merchant/acquiring bank CANNOT PROVE legitimacy of the transaction! so, they lose the challenge, and scheme will clawback the money from fraud merchant > credit back to affin > your card account.

hence, the timing is important.

Ooops forgotten about that. Haven't use banking mobile web for ages.

The Aladdin seems interesting. Tried to login, failed. Tried to sign up, need IC and selfie. Apparently Aladdin don't talk to AlAffin.
*
yalor, they need a general banking app

they launched aladdin app few days ago, purely as a standalone aladdin-account app doh.gif

sooner or later, they'll face problem to reconsolidate their apps into single banking app

So I spent RM1500...

Gotten RM44.49 instead of RM45 for the cash rebate... which transaction here isn't eligible? Reverse calculate likely 1483 only considered. I don't have a RM17 transaction though.

Actually, I haven't gotten my e-statement  laugh.gif but I was checking to see if my cash back is out then I noticed an amount missing. Oh well, for sure is that RM17 in this case. I usually don't maximize the CB for this card one... but this month all other cards maxed out (or went over the limit due to the ongoing home fairs haha...) laugh.gif

22 Nov estatement already available for download from affinonline portal.

Hmm. Is it me or I've lost the way to view my real time available balance?

Usually it's located in the same page you can see the transaction record, below total credit limit.

Unless it's been a thing all along during weekends and midnights?
