Hi Lefty,

I actually posted in another ID thread but didn't get a reply. So was hoping you could help me out as well. I'll reproduce the post here.

I'm trying to figure out how to best place a walk-in wardrobe in my master bedroom.

I'm leaning towards putting it on the marked area (12 x 6, or more like 12 x 6.5), but my questions / concerns would be:

1) Should I take up the whole space? Is it possible to have 2 rows of wardrobe side by side, with walkway in the middle? (e.g 2' wardrobe, 2.5' walkway, 2' wardrobe).

But this means I have to go thru the walk-in wardrobe to get to my bathroom. Would the hot water vapor get into the wardrobe and cause issues? Secondly, the side window will also be 'in' the wardrobe. What do you think?

2) If instead I opt to not to take up the whole space, but rather 12' X 4.5' (meaning 1 row of wardrobe, and another for walkway within wardrobe itself), therefore leaving another 2' for the 'walkway' to the master bath - does that make sense? This would mean I would not have to cover up the side window. Would the walk-in wardrobe be too narrow?

3) For either option above, where do you think the sliding door should be to get into the wardrobe?

4) Lastly, without any consideration to my earlier suggestions, can you let me know what would your original ideas be for walk-in wardrobe given the current master bedroom space and layout? If you can include the bed, study and TV that would be awesome! Feel free to go wild!

Hi Lefty , this place will be home for 2 working adults with 2 children below 10 yo. Occasionally, our parents might come over for a short stay. Yeah was thinking of study/working area but not using any of the room, was thinking of using the family area in between the first floor rooms.

Hi, can i ask for some suggestions for my backyard porch. I have already built metal aluminium roof and tiled the area.. the size is 30 ft X 10ft. Now, we feel like closing off so that the area is more usable. But we don't want to have a permanent building ie concrete walls (because we don't want to have extension permit/ or pbt approval), looking for a panelling with glass to make it bright, and use it with the existing roof. any ideas?

The Era will be completing Q3 2021.

I am a single 28-year old male hoping to move into there upon completion.
I expect to stay there for ~5 years either alone or with girlfriend.
After that, will either continue staying or decide to rent out.

Hence I don’t want to do anything too drastic.

I have 3 major questions.

1) Kitchen.

I don’t like the existing wall that hides the kitchen.
Its 6 ft long.
I would like to break down 3 ft of it.
This new 3 ft will serve as my entryway to kitchen.
Remaining 3 ft will have a high cabinet that will serve as my pantry.
The current exposed 4 ft I would like to put a kitchen island.
I want an island opposite the fridge.

The current 10ft of kitchen wall will be used as pictured above:
2 ft fridge, 8 ft countertop.

2) The study room.

I plan to convert this into a storage room.
Can I use a bar cabinet/alcohol rack to partion between the dining room and storage room?
That means there will be alcohol rack to the right before entering the kitchen.

3) Closet space.

The bedroom is small. I see myself needing at least a 6-ft wardrobe.
I can’t put it facing the bed because the gap is so narrow!
So either
• I place a full 8-ft wardrobe in the second room (I don’t mind this)
or
• Build a walk in closet in front of master bathroom (no idea how)

Need suggestion for the curtain and sofa color. I found it hard to match with such a striking timber flooring.

Thank you!

Hi Sir, if RC but not load bearing, can hack partially? My management told me my wall inside is RC, but there is a door and window so I don't think it is load bearing, I intend to hack the bottom part of window to make a door.

Sorry better check with your management. My case is management not allowed and i need to get a professional engineer to justify my hacking is acceptable.

Hi Lefty, thanks for sharing all your great ideas here so far.

Was hoping you could help me with a few things please.

1) My main challenge with my condo layout is that for the dry kitchen, i would like to have a peninsula (similar to this developer floor plan... but maybe just a straight one with no curve at the end)

However at the same time i would also like to create some shelving for shoes etc once you enter the unit. This is the rectangle in green.

My concern is that this would make the entrance and dry kitchen/peninsula area very cramped. Any suggestions on a better layout for this area?

2) Second question is regarding the master bedroom, was wondering if you had any thoughts on how to put in a walk-in closet if possible?

Thanks alot in advance, and look forward to hearing your advice.

hi I am new here .
Isit possible for some suggestions / ideas / brainstorming. This condo comes with such a small kitchen space and awkward layouts I am not sure how to maximise the space as my mum cooks. so we kinda need a standard fridge and proper hood / hob.

Hi, I am wondering if this sort of kitchen layout is ideal?

The apartment comes with built in cabinet already, so I cannot modify that bottom area.
To accommodate for the fridge and an island, this is the layout I have in mind.
My only concern is that the back of the fridge is not against a real wall. So I'd need to put in a thin wall behind?
I am also thinking of having a cabinet on top of the fridge, to make it looks nicer.

Hello! Need some advise here, my house is going to be ready soon and I'm in the midst of planning some renovation works. My master room is quite small and I would like to convert the first floor living area into my walk in closet. I want to close up the second floor living area by putting in a wall and open up a small door in my master room to connect it to the walk-in closet. In my walk in closet, I will put two rows of closet on each side without door because it will be quite tight.

One more thing that I'm not sure of is the ceiling height. The ceiling is quite high up and the access to the water tank is also through the living area. It's on top of the stairs area. Will this pose a problem? If this is doable, can you advise roughly how much will be I looking at?
