Direct competitor to the Triumph Tiger 850. Too bad it's 2.5 years late to the party, otherwise... hmmm... who knows...!

Yeah late to the party, and price jacked. Otherwise would have been a hit. I heard quite a lot of cancelled orders for the 800DE because some riders found it too tall. They should have just brought in the 800RE first. Most people don't do that hardcore off road after all.

Any idea where to test ride GSX 8S?

The guys at Gene Batu Caves said it will be priced at around RM58k, just under the 800DE's price (RM60k). That's definitely the Triumph Tiger 850 territory, just slightly above the CFmoto 800MT's price (RM54k).

Fast Bikes also said the Honda Transalp 750 is coming next year. Dunno how much, but being a Honda it won't be any cheaper than RM60k for sure.

Seen a few vstrom 800DE but have yet to see any 8s on the road yet.

I think the price is set too high. It's quite a lot more than the old GSX750s which I think many see as a downgrade from.

Then considering the basic z900 that is going for 44k and the upcoming NK800 below 40k. If anything the KTM mill on the NK800 is far better than the Susie twin. The Suzuki twin isn't a bad motor, just that the KTM motor has a little bit more up top.

I've tested the 8s, z900 and NK800 all recently and still seems the 8s looses out on quite some aspects....but mostly on pricing being a CBU unit.

If somehow Suzuki ends up down pricing the 8S, I'm hoping they bring down the upcoming 800RE as well.

Good wakeup call for Suzuki to mind the pricing.
The brand name and CBU status is not enough to entice customers.
