Update: the spare has date...5121. For a March manufactured car, that a bit old. But it's a temporary tyre, T125/80R17, also China made.

3 Months old tire considered quite new especially for a new car.

The newest tire set from Tire shop I am able to get also more than 3 months old.

You've owned few cars before curious to know any of them came with manufacturing date shorter than 3 months?

FYI : British Rubber Manufacturers Association (BRMA) does recommend that new tyres that have not been used for six years or more should not be fitted to vehicles, and that all tyres exceeding 10 years from the date of manufacture must be replaced or disposed of.

So.. even if it came with manufacturing date of 1 year back, the tire is still acceptable in general, anyone who can't accept this is more of a personal preference rather than for it being dangerous for driving.

Yes. The Aruz bought in 2020 had tyres made 3 weeks before I received the car. Local tyres so presumably "JIT" supply.

Personally I won't care too much about the manufacturing date as long is less than a year is acceptable to me.

U can check with Proton SC if you're curious about their answer for the missing manufacturing date.

Sad to say bye to X50 and Hi to civic.
My SA that was supposed to deliver my car in March is unable to do so and hence, decided to go for civic with ready stock.

Anyone that need full windscreen sunshade, key fob cover, armrest organise and 10 inch tempered glass in PG area can let me know.
Letting go cheap.

Only starting few years back many car manufacturers give a better tyre brand for stock. All b4 this are either give basic tyre model, eco tyre only. Rarely car manufacturers give top of the line tyre brand from factory. A suprise move example by Honda give stock Michelin PS3, PS4 are a welcome sign.

I think like Toyota vios, current bookings already taken up all the projected production until end June, so I think any bookings from now will have to price in the excise duty. But may not be the full amount as I think the manufacturers will likely absorb some of the price increase....

Actually even if you found the manufacturing date not satisfying to your requirement, say 2 years, I don't think there is much you can do after u signed the paper upon car collection..

Just ask yourself if you're satisfied with the wheel performance or opt to change for a better set of tire earlier if you do not have much confident with the tire given, just make sure you actively check the tire condition from cracks and braking distance.

If you dislike the tire from start, the manufacturing date will not be able to convince you even they changed a new set for you FOC which is very unlikely.

Related to tyre, even owner of newer BMW rage against BMW Malaysia, as the oem tyre equipped, Goodyear brand, run flat will crack within 5k - 10k km. Bmw Malaysia dont give warranty or ask customer to communicate with Goodyear for claiming issues.

Someone from household is interested in this car. I'm curious about the aircon. Is the compressor driven by the engine, or is it electrically driven (can run aircon even when engine is off)?

Hi guys, I just got my X50 in December last year and within just 4 months, my car bumper got hit by a careless driver who was reversing his car next to my parking slot.

I've managed to claim his 3rd party insurance for this but as you would know, all this is being handled by an "agent" at the Balai who managed the entire process for me, including offering to do the repair works at his workshop.

Just wondering, for the sake of convenience, does repairing the bumper affect any of my warranty? Or should I have the repairs at a service centre? I'm asking because of the additional sensors everywhere which is different from my older cars, so just wanted to be sure how to maneuver around this.

Seems like its ur first encounter for such incident.

Next time call ur own insurance company first to inform. If can drive, the go lodge police report first. If cannot drive, call insurance to tow the car back to Proton Paint & Body Repair workshop. Proton officer will assist and help u from there for all the claims and repairs.

For ur current case, u probably voided all ur warranty from Proton as the third party workshop might not be using original parts to repair. Its common workshop practice to claim original from insurance company, but provide used or non-genuine OEM parts in order to maximize their profits margin.

Try ask if the repair can change to Proton Paint & Body for claim or not. Big chance they say cannot la, but u can alwis reconfirm with ur insurance company.

Thanks for the quick replies.

My car is still with me since the damage is minor while we wait for the official police investigation results (although the "agent" mentioned that the culprit has admitted fault).

The agent mentioned that his workshop would be able to claim the third party insurance as well, does that mean his workshop is also approved by Proton (btw my insurance is also covered by Proton)? Does that mean that it is still safe to be done by his workshop? If there are any risk involved, I would still prefer to go to a Proton centre to repair, but just want to make sure all grounds are covered since I'm not sure the investigation papers has concluded yet.

U got signed any papers with the “agent” already? Probably u need to pay him some fee as he ‘assisted’ u with some procedures ady, otherwise hard to let go. U need jnsurance company to step in if u wan ‘transfer’.

U need to ring ur insurance company regarding this issue and check if Proton Paint and Body workshop are included under their panel. If not panel, most insurance actually allow the repairs to be carry out under official car brand workshops. U need to ring up ur insurance company for clarifications. Prepare ur latest active policy number for the CS FAQ prior to the main communications.

It's driven by engine belt.
Only EV or hybrid battery is power enough to run electric motor for compressor.

I say from my experience having accident from behind. Call my insurance, police reports etc. Then straight send to body and paint centre. There, to make it asap, Honda B&P straight proceed order part under my own insurance. After 2 weeks, results from police come out and later my insurance company will contact the others car insurance for claiming purpose. Hence my ncd not impact.

Yes the thigh support not able to cover whole thigh.

But there is accessories available to extend the seat thigh support available online made for X50, not sure if anyone tried that.
