Kesian. When I bought my Proton I purposely void the warranty and DIY everything. 8 years later still perfect, never needed warranty at all. Saved so much money too.
That's what happens when you buy a car for its looks and stupid FC. A Vios is way better than city. |

QUOTE(tahfeikei @ Jul 15 2020, 06:02 PM) 2014 city uses torque converter gearbox, these gearboxes even if passed the service mileage won't have much issues, but the new city uses CVT gearboxes which need strict service care. And CVT gearboxes cost a bomb, like that rm20k, considered a little bit cheap compared to last time's 2007 honda city rm23k. |

QUOTE(Suno @ Jul 15 2020, 06:04 PM) complicated case. let say got accidenct and death, I think manufacturer still can be liable since it's gearbox problem. The car is out of manufacturer warranty coverage already anyway. Even if anything happens now, Honda will not be responsible. better u dun let outside workshop repair. if anutjhiong happen ur family cannot sue them for refuse to repair ur gearbox. QUOTE(MR_alien @ Jul 15 2020, 06:17 PM) it's true on the cost That's the whole root of the problem. "Letting third party workshops service your car". I have been in this line for so long and I have seen so many errors made by so called "foremans" or "mechanics". For example, putting in ATF into CVT gearboxes. Another one would be, there are some special techniques and procedures to replace CVT fluid compared to normal ATF. Yet many mechanics fail to observe this. I have come across mechanics who would tell me that they measure how much fluids come out and then how much should be going in. I can only laugh at such statements. but this is only a 3 years old GB TS already made the mistake of letting outside workshop touching it or i don't know if he even service at all don't make the same mistake and let outside workshop touch his gearbox again later wanna resell big problem So yeah, even if you want to send your car to third party workshops, make sure you know the mechanics there really know their stuff. When in doubt, always request to use back the original engine oil and transmission oil and parts. You could never go wrong with that. QUOTE(MR_alien @ Jul 15 2020, 06:21 PM) there are t&c to comply if u want the 5 years warranty bro sometimes the service advisor tipu one, me also kena, say if use full syn oil can be 6 months/10000km. I needed that because I travel like 4000km a month and I don't have much free time even on weekends to service. When I went to service at authorized service centre nearer to my place, the service advisor say why skipped one service/passed the mileage by a lot, you can have hard time claiming warranty on the engine if u let outside workshop touch your car/gearbox, i don't even wanna honour that warranty already but i don't know what the workshop did to the gearbox the cost that TS has to bear for wanting to save money and let outside workshop touching it honda city is using CVT god know that outside workshop go fill it with ATF like the previous case for cars using CVT, it's best to use the manufacturer's oil or go back SC service(do not use compatible oil) luckily it is more of bulletproof engine and in other market was to be serviced at 6 months/10000km, no issues at all after 4 years now. These warranty claim is like claiming from insurance agent, they do their best to avoid giving you the claim. |

QUOTE(Suno @ Jul 15 2020, 06:25 PM) i know, but the t&c alos must fair. judge can revise it if its unfair. if ts no racing, normal use, no outside touch, then impossible will rosak de. but must prove it's manufacturer problem though. u can ask mechanical forensic to check for u. the moment u let outside workshop touch your car, the warranty is off alreadybut if u lazy and dun wan justice, jus pay 20k and let them repair for u ba. nobody is gonna spend time investigating it while others don't have such issue if your service record is according and your GB suffer premature failure, any brand would gladly change it for u QUOTE(terradrive @ Jul 15 2020, 06:28 PM) sometimes the service advisor tipu one, me also kena, say if use full syn oil can be 6 months/10000km. CVT should last a very long time, if it's being service religiously.
My 8 years old Jazz Hybrid CVT still runs flawlesly, 110k km and counting. Service on time / mileage due. Never miss. Use right CVT oil. TS want to play cheap, ends up have to fork RM20k. Better buy half cut gearbox. This post has been edited by haturaya: Jul 15 2020, 06:37 PM |

QUOTE(loki @ Jul 15 2020, 05:58 PM) to be fair to honda, all car makers hold by that rule not only honda. your warranty claim is voided because of your negligence... Only way out now is to repair them outside for maybe half the price You mean the moment you send your car to outside service, the warranty is voided ? Is this true ? |

If you can afford honda, that means you can afford maintain the car.
Want to be cheapskate, go use Proton or Perodua. Nothing to be ashamed using local brands |
