Buy Geely if car price is below 80k. Similar driving experience, same safety level and get to enjoy at least 5 yrs of cost savings and satisfaction.

btw, Im going to plug my BMW into the conversation here

This is why 5 year service inclusive is important. Even drivng a Honda pun the owners cheapskate already, lagikan la driving a BMW. Warranty void after the owners send their cars for servicing at caplang workshops, then when rosak they want to blame BMW

So BMW Malaysia made their cars come with 5 year free services to tag along with the 5 year warranty, so you would have NO REASONS at all to not send your car for servicing, be it due to lack of mileage or lack of interval:

1. every 12k km my Sunset Orange computer will tell me to send it for servicing

2. if a year has passed and the mileage has not reached 12k km, the computer will alert me too

But then there are people who say that "BMW driver miskin, if they a reach they will buy Mercedes, true orang kaya, no free services, need to pay cash, shorter warranty too"

OK ok, you are saying that while driving cars with faulty gb and fuel pumps, and have to fight for warranty against the manufacturer... Ive done that with my Proton Iriz, never again

TS,
At 3 years old, the CVT fluid has to be changed. It's either 40,000km or 2 years whichever comes first. If you didn't change at Honda SC, you are asking for trouble.
My ride is less than 20,000km and it's due for CVT fluid change in the next service (2 years old). Am I going to skip this? Hell, no.

2014 city uses torque converter gearbox, these gearboxes even if passed the service mileage won't have much issues, but the new city uses CVT gearboxes which need strict service care. And CVT gearboxes cost a bomb, like that rm20k, considered a little bit cheap compared to last time's 2007 honda city rm23k.
*
2014 City uses CVT too. The torque converter you are referring to is the part that connects engine to gearbox. New City or the soon to be phased out current gen City also uses CVT with torque converter.
Edit: new City = soon to be phased out current gen City.

CVT's service interval is every 40k
but every brand's interval is a little different, not sure about honda but definitely not 50k
50k is too long already

Nissan serena dono what gearbox recommended 80k for cvt by manufacturer. I change it every 20k interval. Dont care, better safe than sorry.

When the cvt oil contains sands inside, it will start to fail.

Change it more frequently than recommended.

I am lucky Bermaz assisted me to claim goodwill warranty from Mazda Japan for my faulty gearbox even it is out of warranty. Gearbox and engine are the least expected components to fail, especially within 5 years of ownership.

that y i buy mazda.
where they listen to their customers & really let engineer design the engine.

all the other manufacturer design car based on EPA rating, how well it will score based on a fixed lab test.
mazda is the only manufacturer that design in stuff that benefits everyday usage, though it doesn't show in EPA rating.
