From my experience, the New Saga manual really surpasses my expectation.

I always drive at 120km/h on highway and even though it is high and thin, it is stable at that speed!

Actually max can go 130 but dont want kena trap.

Pickup speed is not disappointing.

Saga flex.gif

But the braking system is not good. Serviced for 2 times. Or maybe i use it too often..

RECENTLY, I called the toll-free "i.care" number provided by Proton Edar Sdn Bhd to seek assistance and to air my problems, but was instead advised to email or write in.

I took delivery of a Proton Saga BLM in April 2008 and I had a few matters I needed Proton Edar to handle.

However, there was no reply to my email.

The following matters need Proton Edar's immediate attention:

- The first batch of Proton Saga BLM had rust stains on the drive shafts, which were not coated.

Why does Proton accept sub-standard parts from its vendors?

Is Proton going to recall the initial batch of cars and rectify the problem?

- My Proton Saga BLM had noises coming from the rear brake while reversing slowly, after about 20,000km of mileage.

When I complained about this problem, the service personnel at the authorised service centre did not attend to it.

Recently, I sent my car for periodic service and complained about this problem again.

They found that the rear brake pumps were faulty and replaced them. But I was billed for them.

Brake pumps malfunctioning at such a low mileage and with no warranty?

I hope the personnel at the service department of Proton can address the issues I have highlighted, not just for my benefit but for the benefit of all Proton Saga BLM owners.

I faced this problem before (real brake issue) when i'm going to stop my vehicle (proton persona) at very low speed.

The foreman from SC told me that I can claim it from warranty. and it take around 4 weeks to receive the parts and just replace it to my car still.....there got sound but not tat serious like before. The foreman suggest me to put my vehicle at SC there for at least 1 day for further "investigate" or checking.

NOTE: anything not related to "rubber, plastic" u can claim for it ! ! ! sometime they just lazy to claim so they ask money from you....do not send email to them....the operator donno anything also....wat u can do is just call up or bring ur car to SC

Even sent my persona SE to the SC, they still can't solve the metal clanking sound at the right hand side in front of the car. The technician told me still waiting for the HQ to come out a solution and they will call you if they got solution, but now my car already bought for 1 year + and still no response from them.

Anyone having the same problem and already solve it, kindly please share... The noise is very annoying when turning on uneven road, felt like the tyre, spring or the absorber going to break...

Different SC different response? Well I guess the foremen are also very blur and sometimes can't be bothered to help you with tedious procedures of claiming warranty. Just ask you to replace and charge you for it.

If can claim for free....just claim for free and just let them check carefully. if they don wan to help you, just complaint or choice other SC lo...all the best.

You better try with another SC when you have time. Search around to see if any other good SC near your area.

In my experience, if you can reproduce the noise to the "good" mechanic sitting next to you while driving, normally they can solve that noise. Unless the noise only happen once in a few days or a week, then it will be a bit difficult.

Sigh. Savvy again.

i bought my Savvy (first batch 1.2 manual) back in August 2005.

1. someone accidentally hit my rear bumper in 2007 and had a really big dent. went to the service centre and they charged me 1.5k to replace the whole piece of bumper + spray. it's now cracking up and i can see really bad rusting about 15cm long.

2. first, the battery gave way, followed by the spark plug, the coil, the aircond, the brake rubber, timing belt, ... every major service costs rm700 and above. minor service will be about rm400, excluding those faulty part replacements stated above. aircond and timing belt costs more than 1.3k. i could have gotten a better car with the money i've spent on servicing and replacements.

3. last year, my exhaust pipe cover started to rust and fell off (i don't know when), leaving the pipe uncovered. had to replace the thing again, for another few hundred bucks.

i couldn't stand the pain anymore, and tried to trade in my car recently, and they quoted me RM10k (fyi, i paid 43k excluding interest for this big piece of metal). luckily i managed to sell it off this week @ 13k. my uncle sold his honda accord (15 years old++) together and they gave him 9k sleep.gif"

i'm numb already lah with that car.

my saga BLM M-Line barely 3 weeks old (1,200 KM++)... already showing it's "tail" / "belang"

M-Line comes with seat height adjuster, barely 2 weeks, it is now making irritating noises when pressure is exerted on it (braking causes body weight to exert downward + forward force on the seat) thus producing noise like "nget nget nget". I'd rather get B-Line seats without seat height adjuster!!!!!!!

Also, when going over bumps.. causes driver side door to produce "knocking" sound.. attempted to find the source of it.. but failed... told SC foreman to check but they said "NO PROBLEM, OK AJER I DAH CHECK"

sigh.. i guess that's what you get for getting a RM39,500 car..

Hi guys,

Driving a old Proton Iswara (1996'; Manual) and having several problems:

Fuel Meter not accurate, mileage and the "reset-able mileage" also having the same problem.

Fuel Consumption, I don't know whether it's okay or high. RM40 petrol 180KM ~ 220KM only. Mixture of town and high-way driving.

My friend said his Iswara (aeroback, Manual) RM60 can drive 400KM.... and my another friend's new saga (BLM; Auto) RM20 = 100KM

Hope to get some replies!
