The Avira free edition usually will have slow FTP transfer rate, but ocassionally I can get 40kB/s.

You may need to rerun the updater a few times just to get into the FTP download queue, but usually it will not take more than 3 tries, otherwise I just try again the next day.

If you consider this as a "problem", then too bad for you.

Lets clear this once and for all.

AVIRA AntiVir DOES NOT Use the Kaspersky Engine. Neither does it use its Updating Modules, thus the EXTREME Slow Downs in Updates.

Why is it slow? The explanation is simple. If you are downloading almost the whole 1-3MB worth of files, it ought to be slow some how.

Thus, For those with high speed connections, refer to these sites to download a full package of the updates. Remember to use a download accelerator or download manager to make the experience more bearable.

I use the second link more often. Less corruption, less traffic too.

The file should come out to be almost 16MB, but rest assured, the traffic there is far less, thus not needing to wait for FTP Line up.

Cheers!

I'll still continue using AVS until the trial runs out. Till then only I'll shift to others. Meanwhile use it while it's still running.

I don't think there's a need for me to update as I can still update without problems... The only thing is if I reinstall it with my *.key and my subscription turns to 2008 then I'll be more than gladful to do so... tongue.gif
